Independent grocery, Foods for Living, has been an integral part of our lives. With abundant product, pleasant management, some employee owners, great comforting music. We are very sad at the coming loss of this wonderful shopping experience, 20 years for our family. Their business plan may not have been able to survive the new neighbors. Foods for Living will be sorely missed.

They are expensive on some items. That being said, the employees are very nice and helpful and I can get Bell & Evans Gluten Free chicken items cheaper than BH! They're harder to find but so appreciated. They carry many things I can't find anywhere else.So I will gladly shop there.

Foods For Living has a great selection along with a knowledgeable helpful staff. It's enjoyable to look around at their vast selection. Hands down they offer the best non homogenized chocolate milk in glass jars! I went out of my way to purchase Ghee & MCT oil for making bullet proof coffee. I usually shop at Better Health as I live near Frandor. However, the last time I went there they had signs posted informing me as a legal CPL holder I can't carry in their store. Disappointing as perpetrators target such establishments knowing they won't be defended. Therefore, my wife doesn't feel safe there. With all that said, I'll be shopping at Foods For Living even though their prices are higher for supplements. Maybe it's a COVID shipping issue as their stock on vitamins were disappointedly low as well.

I bought some CBD oil in there, the staff was kind and friendly. I had a question and they answered it easily. The organic s were great. I got some grape tomatoes and they were delightful. I’ll go back again.

I am going to break down my rating. The workers are not friendly. They stare when you walk in and don't say hello. I feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed in this store....because of that I took one star off, customer service is important. The prices are high. Foods For Living need to be competitive with Whole Foods and soon to be Trader Joe's. Whole Foods gives you the amazon prime discounts, if you have prime. The deals are goods. Foods For Living have sales, but still ridiculously high. Most stores sell healthy and vegan. There was a time you had to go to speciality stores like Foods for living and Whole foods to buy healthy organic foods. Now you can find most of it at meijer or kroger for half the prid. Each time I walk into this store, it's empty. No other shoppers. I am shocked they're still open, but with Trader Joe's coming soon I wonder how long they will survive. I gave a star because they are local. I gave another star because they still use the machines where you can get food from by the pound. I looooove that. I gave another star because the store is very clean and organized. They do sell items you might not find in other stores, also another positive

Excellently curated selection of food and nutrition products. If you are interested in getting HEALTHY food and some LOCAL staples, short of the once/week farmer's markets, THIS is your store.in mY experience Strongest Sections are:1 Best milk game in town easily.2 Every Bread is a winner fresh and frozen, all winners.3 Baking flours, oils, jams, are superb, i know no other quality/value in town better than here.4 Dry/Bulk Good Sections Quite Large, very good quality. If your into organic cookies and chips, this is it.Produce is very good, much organic stuff, some is a bit pricey by nature, but nothing too bad, and there are always some organic vegetables whose prices are very good here( Collard Greens, Carrots, several others) One thing i notice, the produce here is never damaged, spoiled, they stay on top of this.Cereals and a few packaged goods slightly pricey, but the preserves and BASIC ingredients(flour, oil, spices, ....) are great quality and good prices too!!!So ifyou like to actually COOK,/BAKE with real healthy ingredients, this store is perhaps the best resource.I get my Organic Flours, Oils, from here.Large Nutrition/Supplement sections with only good products.Lastly, this store is run well, very very clean. Employees are positive and helpful, many are long term employees who know their store inside out.

I often get groceries here, I enjoy the selection of local foods and specialty (allergy friendly) brands. I went specifically to pick up a Kleen Canteen lid and was pleased to find them well stocked. The staff is always helpful and friendly.

Love this place! The selection is great and everything is well organized. The produce and ready-made foods are always fresh. They stock more well-known high quality brands but there’s also plenty of hidden gems. By FAR the best bulk spice and grain/legume section within a 60 mile radius.. You have to try the vanilla macaron granola and carrot cake. SO good. Great employees and management. To everyone complaining about the pricing: it’s an organic health food store, and prices are comparable to a certain other place down the road. I’d personally rather spend my money at a local business that doesn’t funnel my money to a large corporation who doesn’t give two **** about me. Also, they have tons of specials going on all the time.

Best natural grocery selection around. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. Some of the employees have been there a long time and really know their stuff. Their 100% organic produce section is unique and reassuring. They have a high-standard for what ingredients can and can't be in their products, which is something you just won't see the bigger competitors do. I love that because who has time to study and figure all that out every shopping trip? Great bulk selection. Lots and lots of locally made products all over the store from wine to soymilk. Best of all (well, maybe worst for some), they have mini-shopping carts for kids, which is more than exciting. For health food, this is the place. For a great variety of local foods (milk, honey, chocolate, bread, beans, etc.) this is the spot. For families looking to have a fun shopping venture with lots of free samples... Yup.

Amazing selection, especially for Gluten Free and Vegan options. This place stocks so many things from brands we love. Such a treasure. ONLY PLACE I have found in a 50 mile radius that has Gluten Free Vegan breakfast sausage. I have been looking for months. The staff was super friendly and it was such a nice environment. Even the music playing was very welcoming and right for the situation. Can't recommend this place enough.

Best place locally to buy homeopathic and herbal medicines. Great bulk section for nuts and grains, and a BEAUTIFUL bulk spice and herbs section. You can also find some frozen meats and fish here that are hard to find elsewhere. We like their employee-owned business model and the incredibly respectful and engaged way they have of interacting with customers. Care just oozes out their pores. Foods for Living is an evolved Food Cooperative for the 21st Century, and they seem to be openly living the values.

This is my trusted herbal supply store. Their medicinal section has the largest variety of quality herbal remedies and self care products. The layout of the store is very open, and pleasant to walk through leisurely. Whole foods and herbs are sold by weight for reasonable prices. Also look for fresh items that have been reduced. Produce always has great deals, and all is organic! Some of the specialty items can be pricey, however I find it well worth the visit because of all that I listed. When I am feeling like splurging I go to the kombucha selection, which has craft brews as opposed to the brews sold at other grocery stores. A wonderful, local, health food store!

This is my favorite place to shop in the greater Lansing area. The quality of the produce is always excellent, shelves are always fully stocked with healthy foods, and the staff is super friendly and courteous. During Covid, they have been extraordinarily conscious of safety for all and I really appreciate that. The dried herbs and spices selection is unrivaled and I highly recommend Foods for Living to everyone who supports local businesses and health.

Great local grocery! They have a pretty robust selection, especially considering the size of the place. If you buy produce a lot or bulk, it's not so expensive either. The supplement card is worth it. Great selection of and quality spices and dried herbs as well. I love this place!

If I lived closer to this store, I'd be there weekly if not more. They have a wide variety of healthier products and all their produce is organic so you don't have to check each label to figure it all out. It's also important to me to know that it's employee-owned. I like supporting them, and I know my investment will stay and help the local economy.

Used to be a nice store. Went in recently and a girl started turning off each individual freezer light 25-30 minutes before closing time. I could only take this as a sign to finish my shopping at Whole Foods. Thankfully WF is very close by in the same block with a lot better service and prices. Can't support local if local doesn't want business.

Best homemade potato salad and coleslaw and chicken or turkey pies. Carrot cake etc. And vegan blt. They make it in their kitchen and it tastes better than you think looking at it rather than the other way around. They label and carry gluten free for easier finds.Have many health minded employees and products with a medicinal section.. It is a relaxing atmosphere to be in. They work well with local businesses and customers. . All reviews I read here are 5 stars so Google needs to recalculate that number.

I always love this store. Lots of interesting foods, snacks and meats. The employees are some of the best you'll ever find and it's also just a lovely, big, clean location. Highly recommend checking this store out.

They have local organic apples and a nice selection of organic meats, both national brands and locally sourced. Nut butters ground on site weekly. Very friendly service. A nice personal care selection of healthier personal care products and non-traditional cleaners. Bulk organic Frontier teas and spices that you dispense in the size that's right for your needs. Bulk foods, cosmetics and wellness items.

This store is one of the greatest gems we have in Lansing. I'm someone that normally does a lot of research into the food and products they buy but I know that no matter what I grab from this store that it's already been vetted as excellent. There are lots of local products from lansing sellers and local michigan products. The bulk section is great for snacks, flours, nuts and spices. I've started going here more often than all other stores in the area.

Looked all over town for dairy free milk chocolate for my daughter. When I came in, I ask a couple of employees, they happily jumped to help me, and pointed out a few options. Amazing service! And they have dairy free milk chocolate!
