I've been using BJ's since this location first opened, and, back then, it was great. The associate's were extremely friendly and helpful - they'd go out of their way to ensure best experience. But, since then, the interaction quality has gone down greatly to the point where when we went to checkout recently there was no one in self-checkout as there usually is, and when someone finally showed up when we were done paying and ready to leave they tried to chew us out for having too many items at self-checkout. The limit for self-checkout is 20 items, we had 18. Instead of apologizing, he redirected to it to there being a unmarked weight limit with the machine, but our heavy items never left the cart because we used the handheld scanner. And if they were around at any other point during the checkout, they'd have known. So this interaction and declining quality of the store is what's making me take advantage of the membership sale Sam's club is offering and go somewhere else.

This review is based entirely on the food. Specifically the condiments offered for the hotdog. The first sign was the relish was almost clear. Upon further inspection this isn't even pickle relish. It's cabbage based. I didn't even know that was an option when the standard here in the US is Pickle relish. The mustard seems to be right(ingredient wise), but it was watery and not quite solid. Almost like the mustard was mixed with water.I gave three stars because the hotdog and bun were good, staff was friendly, and everything was sanitary. Everything else was concerning.I will not be switching to BJs from Costco even though the it's 7 minutes away compared to 25 minutes.Edit: I have downgraded this to 2 stars because the soda machine wasn't working and it tasted like sprite flavored water.

Pretty middle of the road. Less variety than Sam's Club, better bakery and typically cheaper gas than Sam's. I lose about 5% fuel economy though, I believe the gas is 10% ethanol. As other reviews have mentioned, look closely at expiration dates on perishables, I've been surprised by chicken thighs or milk set to go off on the day of purchase, seems to be a staffing issue, as they now have a goofy robot going around checking stock. I usually stop in 2 times a month over 2 years, and in that entire time I've seen the concession area open 2 times exactly. Prices aren't as good as Sam's unless you luck into some coupons in the app, so always check the coupons prior. Won't renew this year to try the Costco now that we moved a little further east. Overall it's an alright wholesale club if you live in Grand Ledge or Delta Township as you don't have another option. If you find yourself in Eastwood or East Lansing regularly Sam's or Costco are just better options.

Extremely underwhelming.Lacks so much for a wholesale club.Their brand products are pretty pricey and quality looks mediocre. The outdoor wicker set is so poorly made I was astounded they want $2200.Pricey, lack creativity, lack product and looks like a dead zone. The employees were kind and the club looked clean. Cannot beat the gas prices.I wish them the best of luck.

I called customer service over the phone about a lost receipt. An associate by the name of Amanda answered the phone, she was absolutely very very rude!! She wouldn’t even answer my questions! I’m not sure if this was just a bad day for her, but it made me feel like not wanting to shop there again! I genuinely would not like to leave a negative review, but considering the amount of money I spend at Bj’s, the least that’s expected is good customer service!

Great hours of operation for anyone who needs to get out and buy something g in bulk kind of last minute since the other bulk stores open late and close early. There are plenty of different things they sell. There popcorn and cookies are really good. Once I got bacon and it was already upon its enervation date and they were good about letting me return it. Stuff happens nothing is perfect. I still stop in and shoe for certain items they offer that the other guys don’t.

It's ok, nothing spectacular. Ok prices, selection is much less than Costco. Usually has better priced gas than anywhere else.

Not loving it so far. We signed up for the gas savings, but it hasn't been any cheaper than Shell down the street and the pumps are SO SLOW! I am talking like over 15 minutes to put gas in our truck. They are brand new, but the slowest pumps in existence. The entrance and set up for the pumps is horrible. If someone blocks one of the front pumps, you get stuck there waiting in line while people just pulling in go through the "one way" or "exit" the opposite direction and drive right into the pumps. No employees to do anything about it or help the flow of traffic. The prices are not any cheaper than my normal grocery store. The only way it's a good value is if there is a coupon for that product, and then you have to literary rip a coupon out of a huge book in the store. The app doesn't work for me. I signed up and signed in just fine, but now when I open the app it keeps making me reset my password, which doesn't work, and the link to reset my password doesn't get sent to my email. The products that have coupons are hard to find. They aren't marked in the store like they are at Costco. Often, I have to ask for help to find items or the items on promotion are already sold out.

Very poor inventory control, especially in the cooler, frozen, and meat sections.Be absolutely certain that you check expiration dates on all consumable items. It seems to me that most items are very near these dates. It’s almost like BJ’s purchases old food at a discount, perhaps? I won’t purchase the BJ’s brand of food, as I find the quality/taste to be below grade.Trying to exit the store is far too inconvenient. Checking every item in my cart against the receipt (even if I check out via cashier) is complete nonsense. I have been known to leave my full cart in the exit line, rather than be subjected to this lengthy “pat down”, and simply gone across town to shop at a real wholesale club.Sorry BJ’s, oh, and thanks for the putrid baby back ribs I went to smoke on memorial day!

Wow, I don't usually do reviews but the ones here are so bad. I have had a great experience with this store and the savings both with merchandise and gas. I appreciate having this on the west side of town, I also have Costco and Sams and go to whatever one I'm close to. They all have something that I like. This one has Stok cold brew coffee that I buy regularly along with eggs, almond milk, frozen fruits and vegetables. I have gotten more than my membership price back, I am on my second year of membership.

No nacho cheese for the soft pretzels. The most expensive prices on groceries, go to Walmart across the street. It's always empty when I go in. I only get gas here. They seem to have a minimum price on everything. So, no matter what I get, I can only afford 2 items on my limited grocery budget. Sams Club is way better. I can get 4 items for the same price. Sams also has cheese for their pretzels

I’ve saved over a thousand dollars at this store and have seen gas prices at 25-40 cents less than surrounding stations. Definitely paid for itself!

Okay I was thinking about not renewing my membership. But I’m so glad I didn’t go though with not renewing! So far this year I have saved several hundred dollars on everyday items. I saved 300 dollars alone on tires (Goodyear) when compared to Belle Tire and Discount Tire. So much money has been saved on everyday items ranging from toilet paper to laundry soap. You really just have to look around and think outside of the box. Even water is so much cheaper! Yes I love this place better than Sams! I even bought my eye glasses here recently! No I’m not an employee or paid by this place but just thankful that they have saved my family so much money in this inflationary economy. God bless!

I like that gas is usually around 20 cents cheaper than down the road. But people pull in and block ALL the pumps to make sure THEY get the next one available. Ends up being a traffic jam and you’re stuck waiting.Today, they had samples but all the sample people seemed done with life and not very nice. One guy was “handing out” gummy bears (lol) but was hunched over staring at his phone, not acknowledging anyone around him. So we just took some and walked away. If you don’t like your job, find something that better suits you.Their little snack shop is almost always closed now. They intentionally understaff this store but it does a disservice to the customers. There was a sign saying to grab an employee if you wanted a cookie or drink but the only employee around was checking out a long line of people. Their popcorn machine has been “broken” for weeks as well.Food isn’t too bad. There’s isn’t much of a selection in the bakery compared to Meijer. We bought chicken here but it tasted like it was glued together. You couldn’t even pull it apart fully cooked. It just seems like this store could be something amazing and those in charge couldn’t care less.

I would give zero stars if I could. Found a Cuisinart set of pans at Canton BJ’s that I wanted. It was 15 piece set, a BJ’s exclusive. Unfortunately, they didn’t have any and it was discontinued. However, the Lansing club had 5. Great! I called the Lansing club and spoke with Daniel. I told him what I was looking for and he told me they had 1 on display and 4 in the rafters. I asked if I could pay for them over the phone and have them shipped to me. He didn’t’ know if that could be done, but said I could buy them on line and have them shipped. Again, great! He gave me the item number, and it came back no such item. He couldn’t get a manager because they were having a “hiring event” and they couldn’t be bothered. So, what do I do? I use my only day off to drive 1 and a half hours to Lansing to make my purchase. I go to the counter to ask for help on the floor (I need someone to get something out of the rafters) to which she says oh, I don’t think we can do that during the day, let me call a manager. The manager comes over, and again I explain to her what I’m there for. About 10 minutes later she comes back to tell me that apparently I was given false information. I saw the set on display. The computer says they have 5, but she can’t find them. I was quite upset. Why do you still have the product on display if it’s discontinued and you don’t have any in stock? Unbelievable - the only good thing I can say about that club was that Daniel was very helpful on the phone. Too bad he wasn’t working on Monday when I went in.Zero customer service there!

Very deceiving when applying for a credit card, was not told until it was to late that this company's credit card agreement is thru a 3rd party...where we already have a card thru... so a hard inquiry could have been avoided... In addition, every time Ive been in this location, I've gotten this inclination that they only like salt, not pepper..iykyk

Employees including Katie the manager very rude. Empty shelves even though products on racks above. Wasted time and gas to go there and couldn’t buy items I wanted even though they were on racks above. Some meat in coolers looked like it was starting to spoil. The prices here are high. They have coupons but often don’t have those items to buy. I don’t think this store is worth the fee to be a member. I probably won’t renew this membership. I am going back to Sam’s club. Sam’s has better and more professional service, better choices, better meat, not outdated food, and better prices. Sam’s is a little farther from me but worth the drive.

I purchased a membership in Feb 2022 after receiving a flyer that advertised a $40 store credit after paying the $55 membership fee. I had to call customer care several times to get the credit because it did not come as described by the salesperson in the store. My family shopped here several times and were generally satisfied with the store and products, but we didn't use the membership. BJ's sends multiple emails to me weekly advertising their products, but I am concerned as to why they did not send me an email about my auto renewal as a reminder. I realize that ultimately, it's my responsibility to keep track of, but it would be a nice customer service move to receive a notice ahead of time. Now I have been chasing down a refund for over a month, and have called their customer care at least 4 times because the information about my refund that they've provided has been false every single time. I am currently on hold because a customer service rep hung up on me when I was attempting to get answers once again. My advice--DO NOT GIVE ONE RED CENT TO THIS COMPANY! I would give a minus 5 star rating if I were able!

I called the store yesterday to schedule an eye exam and they told me it was all done through online so I went online and made an appointment for 10am today. I got there at few minutes before my appointment time and when 10 arrived the optical people still weren’t there the lady finally showed up fifteen minutes late holding coffee in her hand from biggby and than began to explain to me that she couldn’t see me today for my eye appointment because I made it online and the person who does online appointments was out today and the lady that was there today only does walk in appointments. Told me I would have to come back next week but that nothing was guaranteed. Absolutely wrong and just lazy when my membership is up next month I’ll be leaving BJ’s and going to Costco. This isn’t the first bad experience I’ve had with bjs but it will be the last.

Was excited initially, close to home. Very clean, ample Amigo's was great to see. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Just couldn't find help in the different departments much less knowledgeable help...but staffing is tough right now for everyone. I was there 2 hours. Not quite a Costco yet but do hope they "work out the bugs". Asked for a Store Manager who was very nice but didn't have the electronics knowledge to make me pull out my cc card. Prices were definitely higher for most items I needed. Bought only a few things. Sad clothing choices or variety.Would like to see more choices all the way around. But providing weaknesses and strengths as consumers should prove fruitful. Going to give them a second chance the end of April. Then I'll decide about membership or not.

I kept my membership only for the gas prices. However, every time I try to get gas here the pumps will not work. They shut off after only pumping pennies worth of gas. The person that works the service station is always rude and won’t help you out. The blinds on the service station are always pulled down so you can’t see that anyone is even in there. Definitely done with my membership.

So far I am liking it. Its nice to have different name brands to choose from. The staff and customer service have been excellent. I think it’s about the same if not alittle more expensive than Sams club on certain items. I like the clothes. You can definitely get a good deal on gas. To get deals they aren’t instant, you have to clip them on the app or actually cut them out of the mail flyer. Some items do give you more points on gas. The one thing that disappointed me the most so far which is IMPORTANT when you do clip your coupons on the app make sure to use your store card that is under the account you used to clip your coupons. It has to be YOUR card! I have my son on my account, and he used his card and I didn’t get any of the savings. It took me awhile to figure out what went wrong. I assumed I could use either account card, but if you want your savings you have to use the one you clipped coupons on.

I used the scan and go app when shopping. What a waste of time. When you stop at the exit, they have to scan every item in your cart. Terrible waste of time. If you don't use the scan and go app, then when you get to the exit, they glance at your cart, possibly sount the items and yoiu arae quickly on your way. Yesterday I bought two things and didn't use the app Unfortunately when I got to the exit the person in front of me had a basket full of stuff. It took for ever for the person to be able to move items around and scan everything. So annoying. BTW, I also have a new membership and Sams. They have a scan and go app that is wonderful. After scanning your items, you walk through a special exit at the end of the cashiers and then at the Exit, they merely scan the QR code on your app and you are out the door. WAYYYYYY easier and quicker. I will likely not renew BJs and keep Sams.

Extremely disappointed with the Wholesale Club. They advertise High Octane Program. Yet when you wanna buy those products a great majority of them are not in stock. Products listed at wrong prices. On a few occasions I bought High Octane items and the .10 cents did not register on my account. That and it takes more than 30 minutes to upload to the account so you cannot fill up after leaving the club to save on the gas rewards. If you are gonna advertise make sure products are in stock or offer a comparable product for the High Octane rewards.

I signed up before they opened, in the trailer they had set up. When I went in today and shopped they did not have the $40 credit on my card for signing up. After a long wait in the customer service line they said that the manager would have to credit my account which was not available for my shopping today. I was not happy !!!! Wasted my time and gas going in. The service attendant said that this was a common problem. The prices of the items in the store were good but not great , about the same as shopping at other local stores without the membership . I have been a member of Costco before and must say I prefer them. Would not recommend them to anyone.

Generally OK. Clipping coupons is a bit of a pain but not the worst. Definitely not Costco but I buy in bulk for my large family. Would be better if they would limit cookies to 5 per customer so we had a chance of buying them during our shopping trips.

Just a knock off Sam's or Costco, but way less car and professionalism. They mislabel things, then argue with you when you tell them. They over charge then make you wait around for 20 min for a refund. They are unorganized and nobody knows what's going on. Stuff is scattered and all over from too many customers and uncaring staff. I found good that looked to be frozen, unfrozen, the frozen again. Some of the shrimp I was looking at buying was litteraly not frozen anymore and almost to expiration. Just a bad store in general. Better off going to the better whole sale stores.

I would’ve given 1 stars if it wasn’t for the guy at the door and Bob handing out toilet paper samples. They were really kind.Go to self checkout and I ask the lady does she know when produce comes in. No one was in produce so that’s why I asked her. She looks at me like ‘how would I know?’ As if I shouldn’t ask her a question that’s not related to her specific department. She then proceeds to ask another lady (with shaved head) at the small desk to the right. She too looks like she has no clue and says we can get a truck any day. That’s understandable. So I have three large cases of water and grapes and I’m the only one in self checkout. Instead of the lady offering to scan my waters, I have to ask her to scan them. Before I can even finish my sentence, she cuts me off and says, ‘I’ll scan it for you.’ Well oompa, why didn’t you just come over and scan my damn waters instead if staring at me?I’ve never received this type of attitude from this establishment, so I’m a bit annoyed.
