Family Farm & Home in Kalkaska is my go to place! I get most of my animal feed here and bedding. Pam is the biggest chicken enabler you will meet. Last year, I went in there to “just get dog food” and left with 30 chicks! Hahaha. The people are always friendly and helpful, and they keep this store nice and clean and organized. The ones that handle the chicks keep the chick area nice and clean and make it easy to take a good look at the chicks. I can’t say enough good things about this store! Go check them out!

Nice to have options for farm supplies local ad ot have to go to Traverse CIty or Cadillac. When we need that "odd" item for a project they usually have it. I think the clothes can be overpriced, but the chain saws are priced right in line with everyone else. Always nice cashiers, clean store!

Just visited Kalkaska MI location. Couldn't find an advertised sale product. Tried to ask employees. First I was ignored by the clerk at the register area. Next I waited at the customer service counter in back. 3 more employees looked at me but all continued on about there day without so much as an acknowledgement I was standing there. Finally I left the store in disgust. I guess customer service doesn't exist in the Kalkaska store. Everyone one of those employees should be sent packing.

Just wandered through as there is not one of these in my hometown. Our local similar retailer is Tractor Supply TSC). This place had a good selection and seemed to be very reasonably priced.

If I could give this zero stars, I would. Their assistant manager ignores customers and when she does acknowledge you, she's rude and nasty. According to the store manager, it's ok to do this. Even after multiple complaints, no reprimand to be found. Take your business and money to where they actually care about customer service.

This store is too good and too close, I can easily spend all my money if where to casually drop into this store too often. The place has exactly what it's name implies, things a farm-family would shop for. It combines elements of a Tractor Supply (hydraulics, chains & sprockets, engine block paints), with a scaled down Manards (minus the lumber and concrete).The staff at this location is knowledgeable and exceedingly helpful.

I was having problems with my squash and tomatoes. I was looking for lime. This was the first time I was growing my own plants. With being this time of the year the store was out of lime. I really didn't know if I needed lime or if something else would work for my problem. I was telling a lady employee about my problem and she told me what worked for her. What she told me totally made sense. Now I have hope that my plants will live. I had three employees helping me and they all were very nice and helpful. I wished that I didn't live so far from the store. I hope to see your store in TC soon.

It was an ordinary day until I found a dead baby chick in with all the live ones running all over it. Poor thing. One of the workers scooped it up and threw it in the trash. Oh well,the circle of life. Sometimes it's shorter for some than others.

This store has the best prices and great stock. Hardware sold by the pound. I've even bought Dewalt tools here that Blains had on sale for a better price. There is a lot of stuff for pets, too, which helps.

This past weekend I was headed north to camp with a car full of kids when a huge thunderstorm hit. I also was pulling a trailer with all of our camp stuff and a lawnmower for the first time. As I was driving, my windshield wiper on the drivers side started to come off. We came into Kalkaska and I quickly got off the road by turning into the Family farm and home parking lot. Feeling very overwhelmed and stressed in the pouring down rain and lightening, I went into the store not knowing if they even had vehicle wipers. Thank God they did! As I was standing in the aisle trying to figure out what size I needed, an employee, Lance asked if we needed help. At this point I was near tears. He helped me find the size I needed and then said he would grab something to put on to protect from the rain and come and help. I could have hugged him! I payed for the items and by that time I was tearing up. Lance came out in the rain with lighting and thunder around us. He changed my wipers in less than two minutes and we were on our way again. Thank you Lance for your kindness! You truly helped this mama out! Thank you Family farm and home for having what I needed! Great service and great employee!
