this humane society facility is really great. More like a labor of love by the people there. Employees, volunteers, everyone is helpful and friendly and willing to go the extra mile for you and the furry friends you can tell they care deeply about. If you get Elizabeth or Erin to take care of you, you will be impressed. Others were equally adept at taking care of interested parties but I didn't get their names. Their level of knowledge is quite impressive and the facility warm and clean.

A couple months ago my brother and I came here from Howell by chance and decided we wanted this little guy to be part of the family. Since Tigger has joined, he’s an amazing addition to the household.

Definitely a necessity to have our town is lucky to have this place, a no kill shelter. A loving place for animals to be placed to find living forever homes, and thank God for the help of the foster homes for their wait to their forever homes. They have a spayed and neuter program for the feral cats for next to nothing. It's worth the few bucks to keep the cat population down. Please make donations to help these Angels keep going, and a great big hug and thank you from me.

Both of my cats got spayed here. Both had infections from a result of the surgery. I called them for help because i had no idea what to do and they were so rude. If you care about your pet please do not get any services here for them.

We came to Cascades today after getting the run around at another shelter. I wasn’t confident when we went in that this place was going to be any better, but I was wrong.First thing I noticed is that it was very clean. We visited with many of the cats and all had very clean cages. We looked at many dogs and their areas were clean too. Each staff member we encountered was very friendly and helpful. The dog we chose to adopt was surrendered by the previous owner because they had to go into an assisted living facility. They told us how heart broken the previous owner was. They gave us all the belonging for the dog that the previous owner packed. When I asked if I could send them photos of the the dog in his new home to share with the previous owner they were so grateful and said how meaningful that would be and how they would make sure the photos were passed along to the previous owner. You could just tell they truly cares about the dog and the poor owner who hated parting with him.Overall a fantastic experience and I would recommend to everyone!!

This place is great. It’s the only one I’ll take my dog to anymore and she loves it. It has a nice fenced in area, separated for big and small dogs, has lots of play options and even bowls of water for the dogs. Even the kids love playing there!

Went to the Cascades Paw Playground off leash dog park for the first time today. The pups had a good time! Took our 2 yr old labradoodle, and our parents 3 yr old Weiner dog and 4 mon old GSD. There are 2 large fully enclosed areas complete with designated time out enclosures. 1 each for small breeds under 40 lbs and another for large breeds 40+ lbs. There's water faucets in both areas but neither were turned on today. There's smooth peat gravel that covers both areas. It was odd but didnt stop the puppers from running and playing. The Cascades Humane Society grounds outside surrounding the park are well kept. Inside the park not so much! The small breed park is uninhabitable! The 5 ft. weeds have overwhelmed the whole area to the point that you cant see the gravel underneath. It's pretty depressing. Their are trees with flower box enclosures in the large breed area, but they are overwhelmed by weeds also. This is an enormous space with soo much potential! It seems it has gone out of site and out of mind by the community and volunteers needed to maintain its upkeep.

I was sad to see they will not fix brachycephalic dogs. They don't have the equipment if a emergency. What if a long nosed dog stops breathing ? Are they just out of luck ? Preach spay/ neuter low cost but leave many breeds out. Sad.

Nice, big fenced in dog park. Has separate sides for large vs Small doggies. Supplies plastic doggie bags too.

This place sure is great! The staff was truly helpful and kind in my search for a new buddy. Their passion for the animals and their jobs was clearly apparent. I got great advice and tips on how to make my new friend transition to his new home. The vet care their is also wonderful, and the prices are so nice! The shelter manager even came and talked to me about classes they offered to help train and socialize my puppy. I'm definitely going to sign up! Highly recommend them for all your animals needs.

Inexcusable scam to charge people $10 per pet to email copy of pets surgical procedures of spay and neuter. Sadly pathetic you claim to care so much for animals that you want to charge such a fee to EMAIL a copy that cost you nothing and hinders animal getting immediate treatment from another veterinarian. You are the reason animals suffer and make it hard on people to care for their pets. SHAMEFUL.

Go to Jackson county animal shelter instead. Months ago I adopted a dog after our older dog passing. we gave the dog a good amount of time to adjust. He was dog and human aggressive we loved the dog but couldnt keep a dog who was aggressive in our living situation. They told me to bring him back which when I did they were not only rough and mean with him but also myself while I was crying they snatched his leash and DRUG him into the back I wasn't even allowed to say goodbye he was just snatched and drug. We loved the dog and wanted to keep him so bad. My cat who I adopted YEARS ago from them just passed away and I went in to adopt a kitten they had. They were rude and informed me even though THEY had me bring the dog back that we can no longer adopt from them at all even though they are over run with kittens and cats. And our contract never stated we couldn't adopt again nor were we told until now. I wanted to trust them one more time after a very hurtful experience with the dog we adopted and how they treated him and us and now we couldn't even give a kitten a good home. I had my original cat from them for 7 yrs... I wasn't going to write about what happen with the dog but it's time it came out. They treated him so poorly when we returned him it was heartbreaking and he sat there for months after being returned. They knew we had a child and other dogs and lived in a community so they knew with the aggression he showed we couldn't keep him. They even had me lie on his surrender papers about his aggression and had me just put he wasn't a good fit so setting another home up for failure and the dog up for failure. I've never had a experience like this at Jackson county animal shelter and I've adopted 2 cats and 2 dogs there over the years, I've also never seen a animal mistreated there. I was never rude or anything to them and now we as a family can't even adopt a cat who really needs a home? After having my one cat from them 7 years which was my first adoption from them. Sad they are denying taking in cats because they have so many but refuse a adoption over a situation that was out of our control..... OH AND THE DOG WE ADOPTED HAD KENNEL COUGH THAT I PAID TO TREAT.

We use Cascades Humane Society for their low cost spay/neuter program for the stray cats in our neighborhood. After signing up and paying the fee, the appointment is scheduled. On the day of the appointment we drop them off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon. By that evening the cats are back to their normal selves. They also offer very affordable vaccines which are very important so the cats can live a long healthy life. It's a great essential program that helps control the cat population in our community. I highly recommend them for these services.

Cascades has always been my go to place. If I could take each and every animal there home with me and give them a better life I would do it in a heartbeat 💓. I love animals. This place is amazing. They not only have great animals to adopt out, but they also have other services such as the Spay and Neuter program as well as the food pantry. I just wish they had enough food to give out. My last visit, I wasn't given enough cat food for three cats. What they gave me was 3 small trial size packs of food. 1 pack would last 1 cat a day, could of possibly pushed to 2 days but that's really pushing it as all 3 of my cats are huge. The bag of dog food would barely last 4 days. My dog is a big dog. Luckily I didn't need rabbit food, as I have plenty. But, I still give this a 5 star rating. The staff really are amazing.

Great time at Trunk or Treat 2022, with a huge turnout. Hopefully we will see a lot of new homes for the beautiful creatures at this shelter very soon!

I took my cats here for the vaccine clinic and we had a great experience. The staff that were there were all very friendly. The vet was also friendly and helpful. Thanks for taking good care of our fluff muffins.

Shanna explained to me that surrendered animals are only accepted at this shelter. Don't waste your time calling them about strays or feral cats. I am here to save you that time.

This is a great shelter for animals they do an amazing job. All the animals seem to well cared for once they get here. If you are looking to adopt an animal I would not hesitate to recommend coming here. Alternatively if you can't adopt but love animals come a see them and possibly inquire about volunteering so you can spend time with the animals.

I adopted the best dog ever. Only complaint was the puppy was incontinent for a while and the vet said it was due to being fixed too young. But the issue resolved. They've fixed my other pets for cheap as well. I'll gladly adopt again!

Large off leash park for dogs. Overgrown and not kept up well. Back entrance is locked but the front is still open. Two areas for large and small dogs.

I adopted "McChicken" (since renamed "Pumpkin") last weekend from Cascades HS. He is AMAZING--healthy, affectionate, social, and cuddly. I was seeking a cat who would happily coexist with our dog and not only tolerate, but actually thrive, living in a home with 3- and 5-year old children. I really appreciated the support and time the shelter staff took to suggest possible cats when I told them about my family and the qualities we were seeking in an animal. My son is autistic and will often become overwhelmed quite quickly. The fact that we could meet and hang out with potential cats in a private room was a game-changer in the cat search and adoption process. The smaller size of Cascades compared to some other shelters in the region was also really helpful for us. Thank you so much! We feel so lucky to have our new family member!

Ran by teenagers that don’t have any people skills, seemed annoyed to have to talk to anyone. Had an appointment to get my pet neutered, was never given any paperwork on how to prepare my pet before the procedure. The woman I spoke with to make the appointment was barley present in the conversation, paying more attention to a dog in the reception area than the people actively making an appointment. Wasn’t told he couldn’t have food, and wasn’t given a receipt. When we came in for the appointment (that had already been paid for) they told that us that they couldn’t do it because he had eaten the night before (we might have known that he couldn’t have food, had we gotten the paperwork). The kid at the desk blamed US for not being given ANY information from THEM about what needed to be done. She claimed we were lying when we said we were never given paperwork with information. Go to a real vet, this place used to be a great way to save some money but they seem to have lost all of the good staff (it used to be a LOT cleaner too). I’m out $200 and my cat still has his balls.

They do a wonderful job of taking care of the animals. We have adopted several animals from here. See our last two additions below. We have also dropped off donations on may occasions.

A very unprofessional place to be honest, the only upside is the low cost clinic and even then- sometimes they make that a hassle. I haven't personally had any problems with the surgical part- just the communication.Overall? They are great for some of the animals in our community- but SO MANY of the new volunteers and employees are just rude or unknowledgeable. Had a rediculous exchange with one lady during a rescue transfer.. that had been set up several weeks prior. They also have the audacity to switch up stories on people all the time and think it will just go away.
