I had to get my dog a license and a gentleman there when I called was very polite on the telephone made sure I knew the time of service and hours of operation and once I arrive there was so helpful very kind was a sweet to my dog understood the fact that she was being trained and did not overstep the boundaries I had sat I would definitely recommend this place for anybody looking to get their animal a license vaccines or chipped very nice very helpful and very clean

Even if they can't help more then willing to offer resources & advice. I'm extremely dissatisfied with the new "rule" for loose dogs. I'm told to take a picture and submit it before they will approach home owner?? I don't lie. Gee, I didn't have my phone on me when they(dogs) were in my driveway two days ago. I'll take matters into my own hands, I'll lasso them, haul them off to Saginaw animal control. I'm fed up.

i had the BEST experience here!! everyone who works here is super nice and helpful. all the animals seem to live in great conditions at the shelter, i recently adopted maui. a beautiful tabby cat who was only 5 dollars! the adoption process was very transparent and simple! highly recommend!!

My understanding is this county does well with animals they are already holding, however I had found a lost puppy and reached out to them to make a post. I had multiple people reply on it and she was an expensive little thing so I wanted to make sure I did absolutely everything possible to make it back to the correct home. The lady I first spoke with was so kind, however I called back after a second reach out and spoke with the director Tom. I kept trying to ask questions and he continued to talk over me, and made me feel as if I was an annoyance to him. He shut me down so many times I never actually got to finish my questions to him. I gave her to a family that at this time I’m questioning if it’s their dog due to some statements they made to me at my home, however I decided to wash my hands of this matter as I was not interested in potentially getting that man on the phone again. Tom, strays being fostered outside of your shelter matter too😔

Such an AMAZING group of people here. We had to have one of our girls put down. They allowed me the opportunity to sit with her in a quiet space while the process was performed.

They had a event where you could get rabies shot for 25.00 and the 5 and 1 shot was free. I even had my puppy chipped very cheap at the event. Staff did and excellent job vets where fast even came out to my car for her. Thank you I just saved alot of money for her to have other things she needs. I was from another county called first.

Tom and the other officers were excellent in locating the owners of a stray dog I found on my property. Very grateful to have their services available to the county.

Alright, 2nd review of all time. Went to Ithaca Animal Hospital initially after finding an injured kitten, was denied service, and found myself in close proximity to GCAS. GCAS was the only option, and although it was not a vet, they were incredibly helpful.So, I had a small found (4 week old) kitten who appeared injured, lame, and could barely keep her eyes open. The tech here immediately noticed the issue (botflies) and expertly removed them. With supernatural efficiency, all in one swoop, the kitten could now breathe without visible exertion. She was on the way to recovery.This lovely woman then talked through what my options were in helping the cat, and was honest about the limitations of their services. We drove home with a cat who could now wait for her vet appointment the next day without fear of her dying overnight. These folks were wonderful.

Great place to adopt a dog . I have adopted three dogs in the past four years. The last one we adopted had to be put down. I was so happy that I decided to adopt him . He had a great three months with my other dog. I wish he could of had more time. But I learned that we are put on earth for whatever time God put us here .For Captain Mac he got to live his last days in a happy home . I intend to adopt another dog when the time is right. RIP Captain Mac I will always be thankful you came to stay.Thank Gratiot County Animal shelter .

I have the Best Doggy in the world. She's meant for me, definitely my companion. Bailey came from Gratiot County Animal Shelter and I'm so Happy That I gave her a chance. she's with me in the home and all around the yard and sleeps beside me, she's very protective and deserves too have all the love and a good home. I don’t recommend coming here. I got 2 dogs from here and they told me they were good with cats. As soon as I brought them home, they instantly started devouring my cat as soon as they seen her. It broke my heart. I didn’t let these dogs into my home to come murder my pets. Brought them back instantly. It killed me watchin my baby get ripped to pieces. And having to watch my girlfriend cry her eyes out because she has to watch our cat suffer all of this. And I fully blame this shelter. I won’t ever come back here again.

It just would have been nice to receive a call after they found my cat instead of him being euthanized. They had all my information. It was more my fault for not having a tag on his collar with my digits. But still, why wasn't I notified when they found him? Guess I'll never know. R.I.P KIKI

Very good at making sure that the parking lot was safe to drop off animals. Dropped of cat for neuter clinic and was signed in and ready to leave very quickly.

BEWARE!!! I took my dog there to be put down, (she is considered a aggressive breed) I wanted to do the right thing since she is a 12 year old dog and is sick and has stared to be aggressive toward the people she has always lived with, ( has not been aggressive to her family in the past) I was informed by Mr Clark that it would be $40.00 for the service, ( would of used my vet but he was out of the office all week) I took the dog there, paid the money and assumed the service I had paid for was going to be performed. My child told my ex-husband in conversation that we were having the dog put down, he immediately contacted animal control and Mr Clark gave the aggressive dog to him ,also transferring my current license to the ex-husband, he was not charged any fee for adoption or for license. So now my children are still around the dog that has been aggressive toward them and I am no longer able the be involved in their protection. I am very concerned for the safety of my children and anyone who would come in contact with this dog.( Mr Clark sent me my check of $40.00 back) So I guess just because you try to do the right thing for your family and even pay for the service you can't be assured it will happen.

They know their animals and they take care of them. They allow you to take the dogs on walks around there property and play with them for a little while. If you don't want to or can't get an animal at least go and volunteer. It's a great place
