Amazing shelter with such caring and compassionate staff. I just adopted my new fur baby from here and she’s adapted to her new home so well. I wouldn’t have gone anywhere else. Adopt don’t shop! I can't tell you how upset I am with this shelter. I lost my cat from cancer less than a month ago after having her for 12 years so I was looking for a little girl with a similar, sweet personality. I had my eye on LuLu and went to pay her a visit. Right away I noticed a lot of the animals were in poor condition. Lulu had weird chest breathing and I asked the people there about it and they just said they had a vet that came twice a month to see the cats and I'd need to get her checked by a vet if I adopted her. Of course I was going to do that anyway, but after great discussion with my fiance we decided to adopt her. She had an extremely long car ride but I noticed the breathing was worse. Long story short she had a vet look at her the next day and after $2,000 with of tests and treatment, we had to put her down. I had her for two days! Now I am even more emotionally distraught. Stay away from anywhere that doesn't do anything but feed and water the animals like this place. I forgot to mention she came home with ear mites as well. I feel so bad for all those animals there.

Love the staff and volunteers! They do an amazing job caring for the animals. The facility is the cleanest shelter I’ve ever seen and the animals are so well cared for! Keep up the great work everyone! A++++

Dropped off a stray that came onto my property. Staff was very helpful and friendly, I'm hoping the kitten gets a good home. Couldn't ask for a better establishment for our community. Keep up the good work!!

I’m leaving this review at two stars and not one as I believe the animals are well cared for. However, we called ahead of time and asked if they had kittens. We made it clear that we were driving from over two hours away and wanted to get a kitten the day we made our appointment for. They said they had a ton of kittens. However, when we got there, there was only one available. The others, which had already been posted on their website, were not available yet. I was told that a few kittens had been adopted in the days before our visit. While I understand that, from the way I was talked to and the look of the website, it seemed like there were many more available. It was suggested that we come back in a few weeks. However, due to the distance and time the drive takes, this would not have been realistic. If we had been more aware of the situation, we would have simply waited a few weeks to get a kitten. Instead, we left without one. The kitten that was available was adorable of course, but it simply didn’t feel like the right match. What I can’t understand is why the shelter doesn’t operate like some others where you sign a contract stating that the cat isn’t legally yours until it gets neutered/spayed. This would allow kittens who are no longer nursing but not old enough to be fixed to get adopted. Again, I think this shelter takes good care of their animals. However, their policies and poor communication got in the way of me actually adopting a cat. I am not writing this review with any malicious intent, I simply don’t want others to experience this in the future.

After seeing so many strays and abandoned animals in the area it’s nice to know there’s people looking out for those able to be brought in. Please consider donating so these poor animals can get a second shot at a healthy, happy life!

Thank you all so very much!!! Buster is now heading to his forever home. He and Barney are doing great side by side in the back seat of our car. You all were so wonderful, and very helpful. Buster will be well loved, I will keep you informed on his new transition and will be sending pictures. You are a wonderful group of people, thank you for rescuing Buster so we could bring him home. 🐾🐶🐾

People are nice. Shelter is clean. This is a no kill shelter unless there is something very wrong with the animal to my understanding.

Great shelter, Wonderful staff and the dogs have huge kennels with large area outside to run(even got a pool for them when it's too hot) ; the cats have a great playroom adequete size cages with plenty of help ( volunteers) giving them extra love.Of course Jeff makes sure they get out every day to play in the spacious playroom.Very clean well kept.Always a beautiful cat and or dog waiting for that special person to take them to thier home.❤️❤️ Always adopt never shop❤️

I just popped in the other day and it made me cry😧 My baby ol Trooper had just passed and coincidentally they were painting his old bench they made in his name..Trooper had Cancer and he lived a good life and didn't have to suffer for long. He had the best vet care and Thank you wonderful people for taking such good care of him for so long so I could adopt him❤️❤️He thanks you too!! He loved Jill❤️❤️and all of you..RIP TROOPER..Fly high ...The Rainbow Bridge got Brighter...

An absolute joke. First off, animal control in this tiny little town never responded to my call for help on an obviously abused dog roaming my neighborhood. When I and some neighbors were finally able to get the dog in our arms, it was trembling and had obvious marks of neglect all over it's body. Thinking it was best to get it to the shelter for help, the dog was transported and dropped off in what we thought would be an environment with people who truly cared about the well being of animals. WRONG. Less than 24 hours later, the owner was identified and simply given back the dog. I would think that when given an animal with the need of serious help, the proper people would be contacted and not only would the animal be taken care of, but the owner investigated as well. Instead, the dog will most likely continue in an abusive home. I truly hope these people do not have other animals. Imagine if they have kids too. Yours truly, a person who really does care about animals.

Great experience, Back on Dec 31, 2014 l adopted a Beautiful Male 4 yr old cat, great mouser, great friend, never thought I would have a indoor male cat, but always have, Doesn't bite, scratch, loves his belly rubbed,Pinked nose Tucker came with a great staff that knew just what I needed, Thank you Northwoods

Called ahead to see if they had kittens over the phone the woman stated they had four or five. Drive over an hour the next day to come see and possibly adopt one, come to find out, they had absolutely no kittens whatsoever and the woman on the phone blatantly lied.

Friendly, only complaint is that there's no on call vet. We had to go to another animal hospital in the next state, 45 min. ride speeding.
