I went to get a friend for my Shar Pei in July. They let her “ interview “ several dogs and we ended up with Rosie, a boxer/Husky mix. She’s been a great addition to the family. Healthy and energetic.The people at the shelter were very helpful and even provided a harness and leash. Good people. Clean shelter. Well cared for dogs.I’ll just add one thing. When I got Rosie in 2021 I thought I was getting a full grown dog. It turns out I was getting a large dog puppy. She’s up to 70 pounds now and I’m even happier with her than I was when I posted my initial review.

This place is full of KINDNESS, an overall love for animals and appreciation for those bringing in their feral animals to be fixed while we stop the over population of animals. Thank you for always being kind to humans and our animals who don’t have a voice, but in there, they have love & protection. Linda is fantastic along w the 2 ACOs. I will always come back 🐾❤️‍

Clean building and kennels. Helpful and friendly staff who really do care about animals in their facility and county. Wonderful Director who is honest and real! Really looks like she really turned this place around since taking over a few yrs back! The shelter really tries to find owners and Furever homes for the dogs and cats ending up here. Thank you Rudy! Thank you to ALL the staff at Clare County Animal Shelter for caring for our lost and strays!

They had to put down one of my old dogs. The staff treated us kindly. Gave us time with our dog and let us stay in the room as the injections were given. A few months later I went back and adopted a dog. Everyone was great

We visited there in May and the staff was very friendly and well organized. We adopted a pit mix named Tyson, poor guy had been tossed around shelters for a long time. He is the best dog we have ever had, not 1 incident. ❤️

VERY clean well kept shelter, animals well cared for. Workers were helpful explaining what the info on the sheets meant and honestly explained why one dog might be a better pick for our family than another. I APPRECIATE that kind of honesty. We got a dog that fits in perfectly with our family. Needs training of course and not sure how it happened but we left with a cat too .. 🐕 🐈 I would recommend that if you aren't looking for a new companion a bag of dog food, cat food , litter or money would be appreciated . We had gone to the Midland County Humane Society and our experience there was nothing like this one.. if given a choice, I'd choose Clare again hands down. Go in and look around.. see for yourself!!!

Animals are taken care of very well. But the people that work there are true animal lovers. And good people. Took a friend there to find a dog and she fell in love and now the dog is spoiled with love and Toys and lives on a bunch of land on Suttons Bay and Traverse City. So even if you don't need a good friend. You can always donate to help them out. The money goes straight to the animals and it shows. Very clean , very professional and even enjoyable to go see all the cats and dogs. The animals just are craving to be loved it's sad actually but they appreciate the attention. I might volunteer if I can. The guy I met I think his name is Bob, really is a cool man and does a great job also for the County. I can guarantee he's busy all the time.

So very nice people they seem to be really good with the animals the animals looked good and healthy all of them I know many people that have adopted animals from here and have been very happy with them I have found Strays and lost dogs that I have taking their find good homes also when my dogs were lost they help me find them and because of that my two puppies did not drown in a lake behind my house I will always be very grateful thank you so much Clare County Animal Shelter and its employees

The lady I just talked to was pretty rude. Couldn't answer any of my questions and gave me so much attitude I just hung up. Wouldn't take a zombie dog here to get put down if it was the last place on earth.

I adopted a terrier mix August of last year. Apon taking him to the vet i learned that this poor dog (age 7 yrs) had been so abused by his previous owner I have yet to hear him bark! but, his jaw was broken and his teeth filed OFF! He is totally blind now, but I love him and is such a blessing to me and my other blind dog. Thank you for allowing me to love and take care of this beautiful dog!blindnow
