A Hounds Haven provides wonderful service and most importantly truly cares for my pets. We have taken our pets to other groomers in the area and were never thrilled with their services. Once we met Kim and saw the level of professionalism and expertise, we knew we had found the right groomer. She takes extreme pride in her profession and provides good customer service. I appreciate her recommendations on how and how often we need to groom our dogs. She has also taken time to show us grooming techniques that we can use at home to better care for our pets. Kim has a true passion for animals. She fosters dogs and works to make sure they have safe and loving forever homes. If you are looking for a groomer in area then you must see Kim at A Hounds Haven.

I have a 6 year old male Samoyed, Bear and a 2 year old female Bernese Mountain Dog. Both huge grooming jobs! Kim runs a tight ship and she knows profession! My dogs always look beautiful When I pick them up and they never go in that way! Her pricing is very competitive and her knowledge of different breeds is extensive! I’ve tried a couple of other groomers in the last 6 years and none of them came even close to A Hounds Haven!

I recommend A Hounds Haven to anyone looking for a groomer! My Dog Beretta absolutely loves going in for her spa day! Kim takes great care of her, and she comes out looking great every time! They also do a great job of trying to fit her into their schedule even when it isn’t convenient for them!I couldn’t be happier with the service they provide! I also love that Kim helps me understand how to keep Ettas hair healthy in between appointments.

I have been taking my dog here for 3 years and I have to say that Kim does an excellent job with grooming. She is very meticulous and cares a great deal for the dogs. Unfortunately her people skills are lacking. I missed an appointment for grooming and she was abrupt and said she would charge me for my appointment. In 3 years, I have only missed 1 appointment and with that 1 missed appointment, I came in with a card and cash to pay for the missed service and apologized for it. With this second missed appointment, I told her I to invoice me and I would go elsewhere because I couldn't believe how rude she was about it. Her response was, "Thank you!". I have been in the service industry for 15 years and if one of my clients missed only 2 appointments in 3 years where they came in every 4-6 weeks, I would be thrilled with that and especially because they would still pay for the missed service!!! I would absolutely try to squeeze them in no matter what it took and not let them walk away. I understand she is busy and good for her, but maybe try to get a receptionist so that she spend time doing what she is best at which are the dogs.... not the humans!

Love Hound's Haven. Kim knows all the breed standards and is so good with our dogs. Small business and she is always busy. Been going for about a year now and wouldn't go anywhere else. Our dogs look ready for a dog show when we pick them up.Totally disagree with all the bad reviews I have read. Couldn't be further from the truth.

I can't speak to the grooming skills of this salon because I decided not to take my dog here. After calling, inquiring about available appointments, I did not feel comfortable taking my dog here. The first girl on the phone was kind, albeit seemingly shy, and was working on finding appointment times for me when I heard an abrasive woman in the background. The woman, who was either the owner or manager, was impatient and harsh and after a short period actually took the phone from the employee and addressed me in a very abrupt and harsh way. She was incredibly impatient with me and it seems very clear that her priority is on her own time and not with current or prospective clients or employees. I simply cannot tolerate when people are so unkind toward their employees. Not the kind of environment I want to involve myself or my dog in.

We have a goldendoodle puppy named Cooper. We had had a bad experience with a groomer at a different pet salon so we did our research and came accross A Hounds Haven and I am so glad that we did. Kim recommended that we start with puppy intro so we didn't overwhelm him. Upon our second appointment, she did a full groom on him and said he was great for her and it was one of the best first puppy haircuts I have seen! You can tell she is so passionate about her job and she is so genuine and truly treats the dogs like they are her own. I love that she offers ala carte services and a daycare program with the grooming. She lets the dogs play while they are at the groomer instead of kenneling them. Kim is so knowledgable and is great at giving us advice and showing us how to do the at home maintenance to keep Cooper's coat healthy, shiny and at the length we desire. She is so amazing and we will never use another groomer!

I have had Cockers my whole life and used groomets all over the country from N. Carolina to Seattle. When I returned to Grand Rapids I began taking my Cocker to A Hounds Haven.For the very first time I found a groomer that cared very much about the dog and made recommendations to improve any issues they found like allergies, yeast, etc. Kim is VERY thorough and gives me suggestions on how to address my Emily's skin/coat issues. She is kind, knowledgeable, professional and consistent. No good groom one visit and less than good the next. Kim has a standard of excellence she lives by and expects of her staff. Not once has my dog suffered burns from hot blades as happens at other groomers!Kim allows her four-legged customers to remain loose, but protected in her facility which greatly reduces anxiety for them.I always follow Kim's advice on all dog-related concerns and am so grateful I did. I have moved more than an hour from Grand Rapids, but drive back so my girls can get their haircuts at A Hounds Haven and will continue to do so as long as Im in Michigan!!!Lastly, I want to tell the person who wrote Kim was "rude" to her..i can confidently say it was a misunderstanding. Being rude is NOT Kim's style!!!! She has steered me out of sight upon entering because once my dog sees me, it is nearly impossible to get her to stand still. At the time, Kim's hands were occupied so making a gesture or yelling for me to get out of sight was her only option. NEVER was it her intention to be rude!!! Never. Actually, Kim says she will call when my dog is ready and when I show-up before getting a call, I interrupt her process. What makes Kim's business so unique is the time she spends on each dog. As is the case at a doctor's office, sometimes that means she is running behind. They are dogs afterall not stuffed animals. Each requires attention unique to them.Thank you Kim and staff for taking such good care of "my girls."

I have an older St. Bernard that lives on a farm, and she loves to get dirty. I bring her here a few times a year to get her cleaned up. They are very patient with my dirty farm dog and go the extra mile. Her coat is so clean and well groomed, she is trimmed neatly and has a cute bandana. She has chronic ear infections and they always thoroughly clean her ears, as well as wash her collar and leash so they are fresh and clean when she comes home. She looks like a different dog. Their longer days and doggie day care allow me to drop her off before work and pick her up afterwards. She is often the largest dog there and they accommodate her needs well, giving her a space of her own if she needs it, without being in a crate all day.

I just moved into the area & was looking for a place to take my dogs for grooming. I waited patiently to speak with someone. After a 10 minute wait, the owner came to the counter. I asked about services & prices for grooming my 2 dogs. She pointed to colored paper on the counter and said I should read the green & pink sheets. I took both sheets and read them thoroughly. Both were filled with information but were confusing to me regarding specific services & prices. When I asked for clarification, the owner was short with me and almost chastising in her explanation and continued doing what she was doing. I stood there for a few minutes waiting for another chance to ask a question, but she seemed like she did not want to be bothered. I slowly turned and walked to the door. Still nothing...so I left. I didn't feel welcome, or treated respectfully. I would not feel comfortable with my dogs at this facility. Therefore, I will not return.

Kim does a wonderful job with out pups. She took care of our previous two Boston’s and we are back with a second set. She is knowledgeable and caring with our girls. We are happy to be repeat customers!

Not sure if this was the owner or manager but whoever it was, was incredibly rude. I brought my 5 month old puppy in for a groom and she was degrading and aggressive. From the other reviews I've seen, I can tell I'm not the only one. She scolded me for bringing in a puppy without prior notice even though I called before and asked about walk ins and did not know it was an issue he was young - it's worth noting I looked everywhere on the website and no where did it state anything about puppies or some sort of prior orientation period of 4 hours before the grooming (side note: he's already been groomed before and he did fine, but not like I had the time to explain that).All while yelling at the barking dogs behind her, she also noted that if he showed up in his current state he would be shaved because he is matted...which he's isn't matted, he has wavy HAIR that doesn't shed so he looks scruffy.I live a mile away from this place and will be driving over 20 minutes solely to avoid this business. This business lost a lifetime user for grooming and possible boarding.

Not sure how they are at grooming but their people skills are lacking. I called to make an appoint the employee was rude and I was scolded for not grooming my puppy at 3 months. (Sorry we were busy getting her medical issues fixed first) Couldn’t get any kind of quote because my dogs hair was so neglected…. and the whole time she was yelling at dogs barking in the background. I would not take my dog here.

I was called to come pick up my dog, as he was almost finished, and when I walked in the door, the owner/manager looked at me and said 'Is that your dog?'-- He was still being groomed on the table. I said yes and that person proceeded to yell at me to stand out of view. I literally had just walked in the door and was told off. I understand she didn't want the dog getting excited but the lack of courtesy and politeness was rude, as I had just that very second, walked through the door. It's not like I could avoid being seen...the doorway is in direct line of the grooming tables! Maybe she was having a bad day, but she then yelled at a groomer while I was there as well. It was an uncomfortable situation. Not thrilled with customer service from the owner or manager. The groomer was very nice though.

Kim has groomed my Missy for the past 4 years. I cannot THANK her enough for the great care and grooming she has given my Missy. Kim is always professional and has often identified problems early e.g. ear infections before I have noticed anything. Missy is happy to see Kim and has never minded going on her 'spa' day. This did not happen with the 'big pet' chains. Thank you Kim for taking such good care of my Missy.

AHH did a fantastic job with my miniature Schnauzer! Technically, his trim is exactly what I wanted, and their prices are very competitive. They have lots of options for drop-in a la carte services along with full grooming packages.AHH can be accommodating to your scheduling needs, their attention to detail on the cuts is fabulous, and they treat the dogs so well. I can't wait until he's due for his next trim!

If you care about your animal - go somewhere else. I had my dog groomed. Dropped him off in the morning. When I picked him up the poor guy clearly hadn't been taken out to poop or pee all day. When he got home, he immediately went number one and two and proseeded to guzzle whole bowl of water (which he has never done before). Obviously, he had not been properly cared for.Not surprisingly, the staff was unfriendly and unprepared to take payment. After 10 minutes of waiting on their phone to turn to fire up thier incomveieny square reader, which charges an additional $3.00 service fee, we were off to the races. As I was walking out the door, not even a simple thank you.Bad businesses are easy to spot. Basic customer services isn't hard. Dog care is important. Do yourself a favor. Go somewhere, anywhere, else.
