After a two-week stay at the Terrace Bay Hotel, I am genuinely sad to be leaving. This place felt just like home! The hotel boasts a breathtaking view that adds to its charm, and the staff are incredibly friendly, making the atmosphere warm and welcoming. The restaurant serves excellent meals, although I do wish it was open for lunch as well. I also wish they had public Laundry. While the service was generally okay and not out of the ordinary, my overall experience was so positive that I couldn't help but give it a five-star rating. CARRIE, REGINA AND LEIGH did better job then the other girls. The rooms need some deep cleaning. I guess they are almost done building a new building, brand new attached to this. I'm already looking forward to my next visits, as I plan to return here again and again. I highly recommend the Terrace Bay Hotel if you're seeking a place that feels like home away from home. Truly a gem!

Absolutely stunning views of the lake. The hotel is currently being upgraded in certain areas, and it looks amazing! The coffee shop there was convenient and wonderful. The pool was relaxing and a dip in the hot tub wrapped up our night. I wish the sauna was in working order, but overall, we were so pleased to stay there. I'll be visiting again in the future!

We recently booked the Terrace Bay Hotel for my daughters wedding. I'm not sure where to begin with how professional, organized & amazing they were. The banquet hall is beautiful and needs minimal decorating to personalize it for your event. The waitstaff was on top of it all night long with clean up, drinks and making sure the reception ran smoothly. Everyone raved about how awesome the food was! The event planner Mitch Taylor was extremely helpful in the planning process and quick to respond to any questions. And it was so convenient for our guests to be able to stay right at the hotel.Rooms: Beautifully remodeled spacious rooms, looking forward for the new addition to open up!Food & drinks: The Freshwater Tavern has become one our favorite places to eat locally. Everything on the menu is delicious, flavorful, well planned out meals with a great presentation. And so many dishes are GLUTEN FREE! Which is very hard to find in our city. Their craft cocktails are also absolutely amazing, I love the candied fruits that come with them. So high class, and worth the price.

My husband and I needed a getaway. We decided to book a Lakeview, king bed room. Our expectations were exceeded! The staff we came into contact with, Cheyenne, Josh and several others passing by, were all amazing, knowledgeable, helpful and professional. The room was clean, the hallways, lobby, etc were impeccable. Very glad we stayed. We are planning this to be our monthly 1-2 day getaway! We didn't try the restaurant but it looks incredible and will be trying next time. Only thing was wi-fi was a little spotty at times but there were storms in the area.

This is a renovated hotel and nice to see. Nicely redone with a modern touch. Bed was wonderful. We rented a lake facing suite and I was a little disappointed that it faces an unused parking area and the trash bins. We stayed two nights and could hear staff rolling bins of garbage all the time. The other big comment is that there was not a closet in either of the rooms or a place to hang coats or clothing other than an apparatus that you can hang items off of (3’ long at most) with only two hangers on it. Also found dirty wash cloth on bedroom floor that had been left there- ugh. If you book, stay in the rooms and ask for a high floor with a lake view….. and some hangers! I am sure they are nice. The bar and restaurant is refreshing, decent food and the reason why we stayed down there for the New Years holiday.

We had a wonderful experience. Special shout out to the cleaning crew at Terrace Bay! We had three young children who were all sick. When we returned Saturday night from ice fishing you could tell the cleaning staff went above and beyond. Washed our suppie cups, folded our kids bedding, organized diapers. I don’t know that this is a standard. But as a mom of sick children, on a trip out of town, coming back after a long day to such a clean environment took so much work off my shoulders. Your staff are clearly passionate about making sure your guest have a good experience. Thank you is an understatement!

We were very satisfied with Terrace Bay overall. The restoration and expansion will make this lakeside retreat an even better experience. The staff is exceptional, shout out to MaryAnn(front reception) and Nick(restaurant service). Their hospitality and assistance was outstanding. The food and spirits in the restaurant were excellent with every bite and sip. We had passed by this hotel earlier on a trip through the UP and decided to return for a weekend getaway. So glad we did.

The renovations are amazingly beautiful and classy…and the rooms are wonderful. Highly recommended. Dining room has a beautiful view over the water and very good food. No full breakfast available onsite but the coffee bar serves typical coffee bar breakfast fare. We loved our stay.Rooms: Large, beautiful decor and lighting, wonderful linens.Noteworthy details: The photo montages throughout the complex are gorgeous.

We had a water view king room. View was spectacular including moonlight at night and sunrise in the morning. Plenty of space. It was November so too cold to sit on the balcony, but the wall was all windows, so we got the views without it. The only reason I gave the room a 4 instead of a 5 was the linens. Scratchy and rough. Had to cover the pillow with clothes to have it not scratch my face. And the bathtub/shower could have used a handrail/bar for safety. Food was outstanding at the restaurant!Food & drinks: We had dinner at the restaurant at the hotel. Large room and great menu. It would have a beautiful view, but we ate after dark. I had yellow fin tuna with green beans and lemon rice. Perfection! And good-sized portions. My husband had the Thai red curry with shrimp and scallops. He ate every bite! Not too spicy but a great lingering delight in the mouth. We were both very pleased!

Had another great weekend at Terrace Bay. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Beautiful view from the lake view rooms. The room was very clean and upkept. The steak dinner in the restaurant was one of the best I ever had! Only things I could fault were a fitted sheet that wouldn't stay on and the tap water has an odor. Still the best hotel in Esky by far!

Mid-week, middle of December 2 day visit to the Escanaba area. No moonlight but alas no geminid meteorites. Beautiful weather. Definitely the off season as there were no crowds but most places in Escanaba and Gladstone were open. The hotel is in the process of being updated. It looked a bit rough from the outside but our room was very nice and updated. The hot water baseboard heat was delightful, no loud fans! Our room had a balcony and faced the lake. We had a fine view. The sound of lake ice tinkling as it hit the shore was the background music as we tried in vain to observe meteorites.Walkability: Not walkable at all.

Rooms were nice and clean- we had a great lake view. My two main concerns:1. Due to well water that stinks, we had to buy bottled water in the lobby. I bought 6 bottles total. First night- I charged to my room. The next afternoon- I bought two more bottles, and asked if I could pay cash for the previous two- and the two I was buying that afternoon. Asked for the charges to be removed- so there was no additional charge to my card. They said no problem. Finally, bought 2 additional bottles Saturday night at approximately 11 pm, and paid cash for them. Sunday morning- the 6 dollar charge still appeared on my card. I called to have it removed. They said they only see 4 purchases, and only had cash for of those. Six dollars is not much- but I cannot believe that they simply didn't remove the charge. I should have never paid cash without a receipt- but I trusted them. Bad business practice to not simply remove the charge. If they have a desk camera- they would be able to look back and see those transactions.2. Bar closed before 10 pm on Saturday- because "they need at least 6 people in there to stay open" . Again- bad for customers. We had a group of people who wanted to join- lost some decent money that evening.

The staff was friendly and helpful. It was great to have a Bixby coffee in the lobby for breakfast. The restaurant in the hotel had some of the best food that we have had in sometime. Especially loved the cheese curds.Nearby activities: There are lots of nearby outdoor activities. Beautiful forest with paths and beaches with wonderful sunrises.

Very surprised at my parking lot view room when I arrived. Placed us right next to the construction side of the building. I have a wonderful view of dumpsters and construction debris. The highway is about 100 yards from the building and the road noise is outstanding to listen to at night. The menu for the fresh water tavern is available within your room via scan code, and offers a variety of food. I've never paid $20 for a hamburger and probably wont.A word of advice to those booking a room here. The desk clerk reassured me that there is an option for parking lot view (why) or a water view. I did not see the option when I booked as they only had the one king bed room left. Don't make that mistake. On another note. This is not a handicap user friendly place. Plan on walking or wheelchairing it some distance. Haven't found an elevator or lift yet....Walkability: It's a long walk to get around here.

The suite we stayed in did not have a door between the bedroom and other space, never thought to ask if there was even a door. No privacy from the others staying on the other side of the suite. Also did not verify if breakfast was offered, it is not. However the coffee shop is there to sell you something.Rooms: The rooms have been significantly updated over the past few years.

I regularly stay here for work. It’s a nice hotel on the lake with a nice restaurant. I always do a king suite with a great view of the lake.Rooms: Nice. Above standard. New tower opening. I stay in an older, updated part. Clean.Nearby activities: Escanaba and Gladstone both offer a lot of activities for the outdoors person. Restaurants and shopping in Escanaba.Safety: No safety concerns.Walkability: Not walkable.Food & drinks: Coffee shop and restaurant/bar on site.

Staff was nice. Loved the free biking and free kayaking options. Sleeping area area was clean however the windows and seals were not clean. I killed 10 bugs/mosquitoes within 10 mins of the visit. The outside of the windows and patio area looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in half a year. It was so bad that we didn’t even access our balcony at all. Webb’s were everywhere and bugs were anywhere and it was dirty. Definitely need a grounds keeper. People come to enjoy more than just the bed and TV especially when you’re paying for a lake view room with balcony! It would be nice to access the things we’re paying for!!!Rooms: Rooms and grounds keeping need wayyyyy more attention. The room itself appeared to be clean but the balcony area was horrible, windows and big in windows was horrible.Nearby activities: Kayaking and biking options were a plus.

These rooms were great! Updated and clean with LOTS of space. Felt very roomy for my family of 4. Front desk was kind and friendly. Kayaks and bikes were a hit! I’m disappointed we didn’t have a chance to dine in at the restaurant( I heard it’s amazing!) but we did enjoy a wedding and reception here in the banquet hall. Would definitely stay here again!

The rooms were very nice and new. The restaurant had good service and the food was good, we had the tuna fillet and it was a large portion with rice and vegetables. The outside of the building was in repair and very outdated and the hot tub was not operational, the pool was very cloudy so we were not able to use them. This was disappointing as I specifically looked for these amenities. Overall it was a good experience but it would have been nice if they were more forward on what was really happening at the hotel.

We had our wedding here and it was everything we could have dreamed of! The event crew is so organized and make sure that every detail is the correct way we wanted it. The food was absolutely delicious!! Mitch, event coordinator, made sure that the team brought some of our cupcakes, two plates of our meal, champagne, silverware, and the rest of our cake to our room to enjoy later! It was so hassle-free and made our day go so much smoother! Thank you Terrace Bay and Team, we appreciate each and every one of you!-The Wallenkamp’sFood & drinks: Our wedding food was so delicious! The bread pudding was to die for!!
