I can't say enough good things about this campground! The owners put a lot of time, heart and soul into this place and it shows. The location was perfect for us, centrally located to all the places we wanted to go. When we weren't on the go our campsite on the river was very relaxing. The bathouse is extremely clean and inviting! I loved the added touch of the outdoor dish washing sink!We hope to be back! Would like to do a river trip as well.

Overall great stay. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at how clean and welcoming this campground was! Cabins were super cozy and offered air/heat plus a fridge and microwave. We especially loved that we were able to bring our dogs, even if they weren’t the nicest guests and barked at people walking by..sorry it’s their first time camping and we weren’t expecting to be front and center lol. It probably would’ve been different had we had a cabin in the back away from the traffic the troll brought in. We were the first cabin right next to store which was nice when we needed more wood or just engaged in conversation with staff. Durea & Leon were super gracious and helpful and even offered suggestions on our first time in the UP to the point of even watching our dogs if needed if there was something we felt we missed out on. We found out somewhat early on, some of the hikes we weren’t able to do because bears & other wildlife and it was to protect us and them on hikes. Totally understandable. They also offer kayaking & canoeing which is super awesome to have everything all in one! If you’re staying they say the 2 1/2 mile trip is the way to go because they take you up and you float right back to the campground. You wouldn’t even need to leave or take your car anywhere, sounds like a perk to me. We will definitely be back in the future especially hearing of the future plans they have for the campground! Thank you again Northland Outfitters!

Went camping here for a night and wish we spent the whole trip here! The owners are some of the most kind and considerate people we’ve ever met. We didn’t bring any chairs with us and when they noticed, they offered to let us borrow some, and even brought us firewood! It’s a beautiful location right on the river and it’s extremely clean (especially the bathrooms). If you get the chance, definitely check this place out.

Had such a great stay here with my family June of 2023 in pond view cabin number 3. Such a nice small campground with 2 clean bathrooms. Not a bad campsite to be had. The owners were wonderful making sure we had a great stay and being so kind to our kids. The river was idyllic and the pond fountain made for nice peaceful ambient noise. Would definitely stay again!

Just spent three nights here at this awesome campground with an RV we rented. The sites are roomy and we were right on the river so it was really scenic. Bathroom/shower was the cleanest and nicest I’ve ever been to at a campground too. We did the 2.5 hour kayak rental and that was really fun, beautiful and relaxing. Played a little volleyball and went on some hikes recommended by the owners, all good times. We also rented a screened in canopy that goes over the picnic table and that was really worth it to keep the bugs away (dang mosquitoes haha). Lastly the owners are super nice, they really want you to enjoy your stay and are so helpful. The talked about some cool improvements coming up so this place is only gonna get better!

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying here the last couple days and were very pleased. We stayed in a new cabin that was clean, had everything we needed, and had a great view. The location of the place is right in the middle of everything in the UP which is perfect if you plan on spending more than one day here. On top of the beautiful location, Levi and the crew at Northland Outfitters are very nice and accommodating. They have a really good thing going on here, so if you're ever in the area I definitely recommend staying here!

We travel full time and have been visiting the trolls throughout the US on our journey. That said, we've been to a lot of campgrounds. Although we prefer to boondock, I would stay here in a heartbeat! Such a beautiful plot of land, right on the river (creek?). They have over 100 kayaks that are available, beautiful grounds, near cabins and really neat staff. I loved hearing the owners story of leaving Colorado to pursue to their dream of owning a campground. They're neat people and you should definitely support this really cool spot! Plus, you get to see the newest troll in the collection, Bennie the Beard Fisher!

I cannot speak for the full campground experience because we visited for the sole purpose of seeing Benny the Beard Fisher, one of Thomas Dambo's new trolls. There was very little information about the troll on their website, so I used these Google reviews to help plan our trip.As of Labor Day weekend:- $10/carload to visit the troll (pay at the camp store)- there is parking in the campground, but more off the side of the road, accessing the troll via a footbridge- short walk from any parking to the troll- troll visitors are great people - offer to take their group photos and ask them to take yoursWe found the campground without issue. It seemed busy with nearly every cabin and campsite occupied. My husband, being more familiar with campgrounds, said this is one of the nicest he's been to.Bringing our 1-year old along meant we needed to hang out for a bit to let her move around. We used the volleyball court picnic table to set up for leisurely lunch and for a couple of hours of rolling in the grass. All the staff were friendly and welcoming.

We stayed at river cabin #2 and it was the best camping experience we've had so far! The room was big and modern so even on the rainy day we still enjoyed ourselves. We accidently cause minor damage to the cabin but the owners handled it professionally and we got it figured out. The only downside is the parking for this cabin since you can't drive up to the cabin. They give you a wagon and it's only a 20 second walk but since we had a lot of medical equipment for our son it took a few trips to unload the cars. Definitely would recommend this cabin and this campground!

This is our second year camping here and we love it!! It is a great campground, secluded and private. The owners are super nice and friendly, always helpful. They have made several improvements including bath houses, new cabins, and we are totally excited about the Troll they will be adding!! Overall, they are doing a great job with renovating their new campground and making meaningful improvements.

Stayed two nights in a cabin here! I found it on Airbnb. HIGHLY recommend this place! The place is quite, private, and clean! There are two bathhouses, one is brand new. Some of the cabins looked new or completely renovated. There are tent and RV spaces, too. We enjoyed our kayaking down the river as well! There’s a small store on the property otherwise there’s small grocery/liquor store a few minutes down the road. Cell service is spotty but they have pretty solid WiFi! The owners have amazing recommendations for food and activities. Great few days away that didn’t break the bank!

Fantastic customer service!!!! High lights of the camp ground, bath house extremely clean and no bugs! Plus a great kitchen cleaning station. All campsites have a grill with brush. You can rent a bug screen "learned that too late" wife and I brought our own kayaks and they do offer a shuttle service and with the owners with staff knowing the river made our trips down even better. They have kayaks and canoe you can rent. (Not junk) super quiet at night. If your tent camping site 7 all shade though out the day site 5-6 mostly shady. The camp store has everything you forget. Can't wait to come back!!!

Stayed for 2 nights at the Deluxe cabin. The name is no exaggeration! Beautiful cabin with comfortable bed, pendleton blanket, fridge, microwave, heater and a/c. The cabin also has a full bathroom with excellent hot water pressure. Truely, glamping at its finest. There is a beautiful secluded spot behind the cabin with a firepit next to the river. Of course, Benny is also a short walk away and absolutely worth a visit!10/10 would stay here again.

I wish there was a higher number of stars I could give this campground. 10/5 stars. The owners AND staff are TOP TIER.Where do I start? Bathrooms.. newly renovated and BEAUTIFUL. They are cleaning them constantly, which is impressive considering they aren’t a massive staff. They were immaculate. The campsites were wonderful. It’s clearly defined where your campsite starts and ends. We stayed in a river front site and it was extraordinarily relaxing. We got to people watch and see the kayakers coming around the corner, and we also passed our own site on our trip which was fun. The campground was relatively quiet. Other campers of course were by their fires at night enjoying their time, but my husband and I laughed because it seemed like at a certain time during the evening all of the chatter just STOPPED. It was the most peaceful evening I have had at a campground; all of the other campers were respectful of their neighbors.I saved the best for last. The owners and staff. They are all absolutely wonderful human beings. We ran into one of the staff member who took us to our drop off point while we were out and about and he waved and asked us how everything went. I have never had that happen before, the owners and staff truly care about their guests. They know that river up and down. They can give you advice on which route you might enjoy (of course they can’t control the elements, bugs, etc). If you tell them your comfort level they can make their best recommendation. They give you tips on what to look out for (ie, duck down under these bridges, once you hit this point you have x number of minutes left..) and what’s best is they work their butts off to clear the river. I cannot even imagine how much time they spend clearing a path to assist with an enjoyable float. It’s a river, you always need to keep your eyes open but it was clear how much work they put into making sure canoes and kayaks are able to safely navigate. We will without a doubt be back again.

Showed up late...Came back late...Didn't know the area well...First timers...Yeah, we were not the easiest guests...Sorry about that. 😉Nevertheless, Levy, Daria and the staff (sorry if misspelled) were accommodating, kind and patient. The prices were fair...The kayaks and canoes were clean and ready to go.The river was a mid-level and took being attentive due to curves and downed trees but it made it more enjoyable and a great team builder.Great place!Would definitely return.Good job, guys!

We recently stayed at Northland Outfitters in Pond Cabin 5. The cabin was clean and beautiful. The bathhouses were also extremely clean and maintained often. The campground is peaceful, especially with the pond fountains running. While on site we (myself and two kids, 14 and 11) took the 2.5 hour kayak trip down the Manistique, twice. The kayaks themselves and the guidance from Durea and Levi were excellent.10/10 would recommend. We will return!

Northland Outfitters not only is the most picturesque family friendly campground in the UP, they have their own resident troll Benny the Beardfisher by famous Danish Artist Thomas Dambo. The owners, Levi and Durea were friendly and so welcoming. They have truly created a slice of heaven. We will be back to kayak down the river that runs through it.

We didn't actually stay here, but we visited to see the Dambo Troll. We called ahead and the woman who answered was SUPER helpful. An hour later, we visited the campground to see the Giant Dambo Troll. There was a man running the store at that point. He was AMAZING! There was a shirt I wanted, but they didn't have my size. Without asking, he went to the back and found it. The dogs were so awesome, we almost had to force the kids to leave. The campgrounds themselves were GREAT. We are definitely scheduling a camping trip for next summer!

Northland Outfitters Campgrounds Kayak and Canoe livery. We had the best time here. Great camping right on the river. Cute cabins for rent with bunk beds. New owners are very accommodating and stopped by our site for a visit. Benny Beardfisher the troll is just a week or so old. Michigan’s only Troll a must see. Great prices and central to a lot of sight seeing in the area. Check them out! Chris and Tiffany We will go back. 8/21 - 8/22/23

They do a great job with equipment, transportation and safety briefing. Friendly and put the customer first. We really enjoyed our paddle and felt safe and informed. The Manistique is wide and easy paddle; rustic, remote and quiet.

I'm really excited to recommend this beautiful campground to all our friends! We have a small cabin locally in Germfask we visit a few times a year. With friends downstate, we always are happy to share our love for the Sceney area and invite them to enjoy this beautiful area too. So this is now my go-to recommend campground for the Sceney area i love so much!
