We always stop whenever cycling through Frankfort. Lots of smoked fish varieties. On this visit I had a perch sandwich with fries. The perch excellently prepared and served and served on a soft pretzel bun. Too much Ben and not enough fish though. The fries were some of the best ever. I’d just get fish and chips next time to skip the bread.

First day: Stopped in to check it out...Whitefish sandwiches, right off the bike trail. DELICIOUS! Second day: We drove back from Beulah (headed to U.P. ) to buy a whole Smoked White Fish for our camping trip, off grid.Tonight...fried potatoes, mushrooms and onions paired well with this soft, moist delicious fish.Thanks, Mike!! Your staff is welcoming, friendly and helpful. 👏

We called in a takeout order for a whitefish sandwich, walleye sandwich and fries. They were excellent. They offer plenty of outdoor tables. Highly recommend.

Excellent fish & chips (tried both blue gill & whitefish). Smoked fish & trout pâté are wonderful too. Ribs were good, but a little too chewy for my liking.

Sorry to have wasted a precious meal at this place. The fish sandwich was bland and average. The whitefish tacos were below standard for Taco Bell. We thought the smoked salmon wrap would be their own smoked fish; instead, it was a thoughtless mass-produce wrap with a few scraps of salmon, lettuce, and two cherries. Their ACTUAL smoked fish may be fine, but would not recommend to those visiting the Sleeping Bear Dunes area.Edit - response to Response from owner:First, please don't try and use my review to peddle your wares. The flash-fried fish was NOT awesome, though I could recommend several places in the area that ACTUALLY do have awesome fish sandwiches. I'm sure your smoked salmon is decent, if one could afford the RIDICULOUSLY expensive prices; its a true shame though that your mass-produced wraps are made with some other substandard salmon, and that you are not transparent enough to make that clear.

This place has the best dip - the whitefish, lake trout, and salmon dips are all excellent! Minus 1-star for being guilted into tipping after paying with a credit card. I’ll be back, but will pay cash next time.

Drive over an hour to get their whitefish basket. Whitefish as in the name of the fish we have eaten often at other fish and chips places all over Michigan. They charged us top dollar and served us a white fish, swai or pollack. Not whitefish! Never again.

So the fish was good,, but got the pulled pork also, and it tasted like it had been reheated from 3 days ago,yuck ! So I guess If your going for the fish, your good to go, but I can't recommend the pork

If you haven't tried the salmon dip yet you are seriously missing out! The best I've had! The peppered beef Jerry is so soft and moist. Be sure to stop in and grab a few snacks!

Purchased approximately 1lb of smoked salmon. Fish was way over salted and extremely dry, more like preserved fish rather than a smoked fish delicacy. Cannot recommend

This place is fantastic! We love stopping in, usually purchasing at least two types of smoked fish and jerky. This is one of our top two places for smoked fish in all of Michigan.

Asked for a 1/2 BBQ RIBS with Cole sław on a Saturday @ 1pm ...Had to throw them all out and the cashier even admitted they were “yesterday’s ribs” .Physically unable to take a bite out of them. So dry and cold. I purchased a salmon wrap instead and also paid a full price. Was not even offered a discount or an apology. Definitely will kit come back. Salmon wrap also pre-made straight from the fridge. Huge disappointment....

Best smoke house yet! The same smoked fish was great! Nice to be able to try all kinds in one purchase. I also bought a few pieces of the types of jerky to take back to Miami , but everyone ate it. I will definitely be back

The store was clean and they offered a great variety of fresh fish for sale. They had a take out counter for having a freshly prepared meal. I went for lunch, the fries, coleslaw, and fried Lake Trout was amazing. My wife had the BBQ chicken, which I also tried. It was baked and then sauced. It was okay but this is a fish house so I wasn't too surprised. They were out of the smoked salmon wraps which is what my wife would have ordered. Highly recommend them for fish!

Super find. Great place for fish. My wife and I discovered this place after the wonderful aroma hit us riding the Bestie Valley bike trail. We stopped in for dinner and were helped by friendly staff and a great tasting, freshly made perch and walleye dinners. The fish was fried to perfection and and the fries and coleslaw were excellent too.

We visit here every year when we hit the lake! Super fresh Walleye and smoked chub this year. The Walleye was amazing. Fresh, clean fish ready to cook. Some days, they are cash only, so be aware.

There’s only one way to describe Port City Smokehouse. The best way to describe them is “fantastic to the 10th power!!!”. I absolutely love Port City Smokehouse. I was born in the 90s and my parents / family always brought me to this place in the early 2000’s when I was growing up while we were making our many yearly trips to Frankfort. This place “was / is” a major staple for my family while we are vacationing in Frankfort. Everything they have here is absolutely fantastic and full of flavor. My mouth is absolutely watering as I’m writing this review. I can definitely say I have had ZERO negative experiences here. Some of my favorites they have are: all of the fish pate’s, the smoked fish, the smoked fish sausage, and pretty much anything off there freshly cooked fish takeout menu. There are many other items I love they have as well. Now as a young adult, I still love coming here and I plan on bringing my future children here. They truly put a lot of love and care into everything they do. You can definitely tell they are family owned and operated because of all the love and care they put into everything they do. I highly recommend that you give Port City Smokehouse a try. It definitely will not disappoint you. Also please be patient with them and other local businesses during these hard times. Port City Smokehouse makes everything fresh; people fail to understand that when things are made fresh and with care, it takes time. Thank you so much Port City Smokehouse for all the amazing lifetime experiences I’ve had so far. I’ll be stopping in soon because I will be in Frankfort for 11 straight days! And I will not be just stopping in once. I’ll be stopping in many times! Last year I stopped in 6-8 times ❤️!

Awesome fried fish! We wound up going to this place 3 times in 3 days and would have gone more if we were staying longer in Frankfort. All their fried fish is awesome, tastes fresh caught and serenely fried. Whitefish cakes and whitefish tacoes were also excellent, as was the trout pate. Cannot recommend this place enough. The best food we had in northern Michigan!

Nope. A HUGE disappointment. Ordered the fish sandwich for $10. Sadly, McDonald's fish sandwich rivals this one. No flavor, hardly a fish piece, cool & barely fresh fried, and ALL BUN. Annnddd, I left $8 on the counter from my pocket while I paid with credit card, the $8 disappeared. Just sad, the whole experience. Wish I hadn't saved Port City for my last stop in Michigan.

Great fresh fish they fry up or you can buy to go cook yourself. It's pricey but worth it. Had 1/2 pound walleye (about 13.00) they cooked to perfection. The smoked whitefish spread is amazing too! Eager to go back and try some other things next time in that beautiful area.

Went in yesterday and ordered two sandwiches, one brisket and one bbq pulled pork. For the brisket, nothing on the menu stated it came with anything on the sandwich, but it came with a white sauce and lettuce. We assumed the white sauce was mayo, but it sure didnt taste like mayo. The bbq pulled pork ... Went in for the first bite and not even sure i was consuming meat. The texture, flavor, and smell was not right. We are BIG bbq fans and eat it frequently, but this was god awful.
