100% recommend, and we will be back. We stayed in a cabin. It was so cute, comfy, and CLEAN. Like really really clean!!! Hottest showers at the bath house even after lots of people showering hours prior to my shower. Wonderful home cooked food at the cafe. Beautiful immaculate kept grounds! Located right on the paved bike trail. I’m not sure you can get any better than this place in this whole area, we just loved it!! Thank you for the wonderful experience :)

Love this place in the off season. The staff there is so nice, the facilities and park itself so clean. I can get a hot shower and blow dry and it's so clean! The park was full, mostly fisherman. The sites are large but there isn't much privacy between camp sites. We wound up being social with our neighbors even if we would rather have had time to ourselves. Woke up to all of our wood being used, drunks yelling at 3:45am and someone used the woods rather than the restroom and left their tissue behind our tent. Again, I'm a huge fan of off season, it's not the parks fault people are gross. This is more of a party scene than a state park that actually patrols the park.

Adorable! First time camping where the tent & bed are already set up. So convenient! The hospitality when checking in was great. Clean showers! Excited to come back and try out a mini cabin.

Mattresses were very comfortable and firm. The feeling of sleeping in a cabin with just the essentials and a few steps from a nature preserve was quite a joy. The coffee, made ready at 07:00. The camp store wonderfully stocked. The full breakfast to start the day and the rest is up to you.

Nice no frills pet friendly campground. Our family had a great time here making memories and spending some quality time together. We stayed in a camper and a small cabin (which was very cute) and enjoyed the home cooked breakfast options. The only downside we saw was the bathrooms weren't always clean, especially when it rained, but much of that is more on other guests than the campground.

It was an absolutely enjoyable experience camping here. My kids and I loved it. Campground is quiet and run efficiently. Other campers are very respectful. Location is very adjacent to downtown Frankfort and services. We slept in a cabin which was very pleasant. Only one bathhouse on the property and pretty slim on amenities but we had a great time.

We love this campground. It's no frills, quiet, and very relaxing. I've read many reviews that complained about how close the sites were, but I guess size is relative as we did not feel cramped at all.We rented bikes from the office and took the paved trail into Frankfort. I loved that some of the bikes have baskets, very thoughtful touch.Folks in the office are very friendly and informative. They have a super cute little cafe on site that serves breakfast from 7am to 11am...it was delicious!Buckets of firewood are available for $5 and bags of ice for $2. The onsite restrooms were clean with plenty of hot water. We truly enjoyed our stay and hope to come this way again. Thanks Betsie River!!

Very cute rustic cabins. Service at the lodge was great. The tiny breakfast Cafe was tasty and convenient. Bathrooms and showers were very clean an updated.Nearby activities: Can rent bikes. Bike paths available, and can visit the cute little tourist town Frankfurt.

My girlfriend booked a few nights for next week, been here before; kind of a last “resort.” I’m interested to see what sort of passive Aggressive response I’ll receive from this review. Also I’m aware you’re not a “fancy” place, breakfast was NOT good. See you soon!Edit: my visit was pretty average... WiFi only functions if you’re at the front of the park. Also, three showers and three stalls is not adequate for 80 sites? And that’s times a few people per site. Toilet was backed up a couple times and the showers had a substantial wait... Not to mention the overflowing trash can in the men’s room and the complete lack of water pressure in the showers. also the old man and woman at the front desk were extremely rude, as they were a few years back. Overall not a terrible experience, but if you can get in anywhere else please do. You can get so much more for your money.

Took the tent here for a weekend. The campground was peaceful and quiet at night, had a really cute breakfast place and bike rentals at the office. The restrooms and showers were very well taken care of! Only downside was VERY high speed bumps, but that won't stop my family from going again soon!

We stayed at Betsie River Campsite for a weekend trip, July 9-11, in tents. We stayed on sites 11 and 12. We had two families with little kids all under the age of 10.ARRIVAL: The lady at the front was quick to check us in, take final payment via credit card, provide directions to our site and welcome us to the campground thoroughly explaining all the amenities offered.SITES: I would say our sites were about 30'x60' if not a little longer with woods behind us. The sites were all grass with a fire pit, a wooden picnic table and electrical with two standard outlets per site. The grass was cut and free of trash. There is little to no privacy between sites aside from a few small trees yet we did not find that to be an issue at all.STORE: Great little store with ice cream, candy, snacks and 5 cent candy for the kids. Firewood is $5 a bucket and Ice is $2 a bag, both very reasonable and convenient.BREAKFAST: You can order breakfast at the store in the mornings and eat out on the nice covered patio. Let me tell you the breakfast was amazing, hands down one of the best things offered at the campground. Very reasonably priced with about a dozen options on the menu.BATHROOMS: Always clean, plenty of hot water - nobody in our group had any complaints regarding the bathrooms.THINGS TO DO: Being a small campground it was prefect for the kids to ride their bikes around the campground while always being visible from our site. Kids also really enjoyed the playground and the open field behind it. The campground is directly on the Betsie River Bike Trial which is nicely paved - we rode the 3 miles into Frankfort for ice cream, shopping and a short stay at the nice sandy beach for the kids to swim. We drove 35 minutes up M-22 to Sleeping Bear Dunes which was a very nice relaxing drive; FYI $25 per vehicle for entry. We were hoping to do the 2 hour Platte River Kayak/Canoeing which was about 15 minutes away yet ran out of time.ATMOSPHERE: The campground was filled with families and everyone was very friendly. By 11PM the campground all quiet and dark. The staff was always friendly and eager to help or answer any questions. The 5 MPH speed limit is strictly enforced which we appreciated with the kids riding their bikes.OVERALL: We give it 5 stars. Friendly staff, old school vibe with great basic amenities. Definitely hands down one of the best campgrounds we have stayed at over the years. We have already booked our trip for next year summer.

My bestie and I went for the weekend and I started my rating of the weekend at about a 4/10. I wasn't feeling well and someone hit my car as soon as we arrived (completely unrelated to the campsite). However, by the end of the weekend, my rating jumped to a 10/10.Our spot was beautiful. You have options to choose a tent spot, a small cabin, a spot to park your RV, or an already set up RV or tent house (not sure the name for those). We choose the tent spot and loved it.The bathrooms are so clean and smell great. For me, that is a make or break for a campsite. They also have a gift shop that also serves as a mini Cafe in the morning.Just outside the giftshop/Cafe, they serve breakfast. Their breakfast was sooo delicious. We originally planned to cook breakfast ourselves, as we planned for it, but we ended up eating their each morning. The first morning we had the french toast w/challah bread and that turned into the best discovery made. The second morning, I had this scrambled egg skillet. I think it was called The Campsite. Better than I expected. And you have to try their biscuit with jelly. You can never go wrong. The staff was so hospitable and they recommended going to the Leer all the fishermen (and women) went to early that morning. They also have bike rentals, if you don't have your own. They were $15/day per person. I don't think it was bad at all. We initially went down to the Leer via car but came back later that afternoon on bike. The leer was pretty cool with lots of salmon. We ended up spending the whole day in Frankfort. It was such a lovely ride around the city and everyone was kind. And at night, you can look forward to some stargazing. It was all around just such a wholesome and beautiful experience at the campsite and in the city and I cannot wait to go back next year. They're located near Sleeping Bear dunes, Crystal Beach, kayaking/canoeing, and of course, fishing.Playground: There's a cute little playground for the kids to play. It's somewhat located in the heart of the campsite so they stay in view. Thankfully the campsite only has one enter/exit location, so it would be difficult to lose a child.Restrooms: Clean and smelled clean. I didn't use the showers there but the toilets and sinks stayed spotless.Dog-friendliness: Many campers had their dogs with them and they stayed peaceful as well.Picnic area: Each site has a picnic area. Very convenient no matter which spot you choose to stay.

We got a new camper and tried it out at Betsie River Campground. We had such an amazing experience. The camp store is cute, the campground was quiet and pretty. We rode our bikes to Frankfort and kayaked the Platte. What a wonderful experience. Lots to do in the area. I can't wait to return.

Epic camp ground! We are staying in the "bee" camper. It's nothing fancy but perfect for a little mom and dad get away! The campground has the cutest little shop and great coffee and breakfast. Also love the bike rental service! Definitely coming back.

Clean facilities, relaxed atmosphere. Access to the Betsie Valley bike trail at the entrance of the campground. Friendly staff and all around great experience. Biking distance to Frankfort and about a half an hour car ride to Sleeping Bear Dunes. I would recommend this for RV'ers and tent campers alike.

This campground is well maintained, and the staff is very nice. I loved the nearby bike path. However, I thought the sites were very cramped and close together. It was kind of hard to enjoy myself because there were so many dogs barking all day and people playing loud music.

We loved our little stay at Betsie River Campsite this past weekend. We rented cabin #3 which was the perfect size for us. It’s a bigger cabin. It’s a busier campground but still not overly noisy and the people were nice. They have breakfast which sounded great but we did bring our own. Showers were hot. Bathroom could use a bit more frequently cleaning but overall was still good. Location is good as well. Would stay here again!

Absolutely love this little campsite. They have the cutest little cabins for rent or vintage campers. Tent and RV sites are available too. Prices are very reasonable and the on-site camp store (complete with coffee, ice and firewood) that has a little café make it an easy choice to stay at. You’re an hour away from most tourist destinations and 10-15 minutes away from downtown Frankfort that has great food, shops and the beach is amazing. My fiancé and I have stayed here multiple times and will continue to come back. It’s an awesome added bonus that they allow dogs (just keep them leashed!).

This is a lovely, quaint campground with a cute gift/local goods shop and a killer breakfast. If you’re looking for simple and kind people, this is your place! The sites are larger than many I’ve been on (and we’ve been to 42 states camping). Great job guys! You can tell you love what you do!

This Campground was quite nice. The people that work there are very kind, they have a great fish cleaning station with freezer and refrigerator specifically for Anglers. Bathrooms are very well capped campsites are clean and I watched the owners clean up every morning. And there's a very nice Alpaca Farm just up the road! They are too cool. Highly recommend this place :-)

Very clean and quiet! We stayed in a cabin, the Trout Inn, with our 4 year old and had so much fun. Such a quaint, clean, little cabin. Really good coffee every morning at the camp office, clean bathrooms and showers. Beautiful scenery! Bikes for rent at the camp store in great condition, campsite is right on the bike trail. Will definitely visit again!

I visited my aunt and uncle while they were staying here. I had been camping on state land for several day prior to my visit. It is an awesome spot for a campground and I'm really happy to see someone bought and opened it! The betsie river runs right along this campground and has a very nice access to the river. I even took a shower while I was there... although the hot water ran out fast (approx 5min) it beat a dip in the river @ 62 degrees (water temp) and I know there was one other person in another shower stall. There was 4 shower stalls and bathrooms under the camp store. The store has an exposed basement wall in the back where the showers are. I didn't go into the store so I don't have any info on it yet.Every year for the last 8 I fish the Betsie for salmon. I'd really like to strike up a friendship with the owners and stay in the campground for the 6 weeks that I go to fish.Hopefully next year I can take advantage of the awesome location of this campground!

Great campground! Our cabin was awesome, with a ceiling fan AND standing fan which made the hot weather much easier to deal with. Very clean and quiet and family-friendly. Clean bathrooms and showers. Close proximity to beaches and other attractions. I would definitely recommend this campground.
