This is honestly one of my favorite places I have ever travelled to. The museum is a labor of love, and it shows. Some amazing Michigan and outdoor history there. It is a must see for anyone who loves the outdoors and would be great for kids as well. Entry is free (donation based) but the experience is worth so much! The owners were very friendly and spoke with us for a long time. This place is somewhere we will come back to again and again. The gift shop is very nice as well.

Great little shop and the museum was cool. The kids loved the taxidermy! The woman running the shop was really nice, even to my crazy 4 year old who had been in the car too long and wanted to touch everything!

I first visited Guntzviller's about 7 years ago with my family. We weren't sure what to expect from a taxidermy museum and went in with an open mind. We walked into the big room with the museum displays, and every corner we turned presented with another piece that blew our minds! It's not a huge area but every nook and cranny is packed with interesting information and beautiful animals! It's clear that the place was put together with love and care. The scenes are detailed and informative.I recently took another visit to the museum by myself when I was in Traverse City for a work conference. It was just as magical as I remembered! I especially appreciate the staff at Guntzviller's. They leave you to explore the museum on your own with no pressure or awkwardness but if you do have a question, they are right there to help. If you find yourself in the Traverse City area, do not miss this unique opportunity to visit Guntzviller's marvelous collection!

This museum is definitely worth stopping for. The owners are very passionate about this place. It’s amazing all the wildlife & Indian artifacts on display. Take time to talk with owners- they can tell you the history of everything in the museum from where artifacts were found to the building of the very informative dioramas. No admission charge- you can make a donation. One of a kind of place and so very educational.

Amazing museum with lots of wonderful displays and so much knowledge of all wildlife. Both adults and kids will enjoy and it’s free! I would recommend contributing to the donation box.The gift shop has lots of big and small items (kids loved the arrowheads) so we all got souvenirs. The owner’s were friendly and told us some great stories.

Awesome. So much to see. I did suggest alternative hours 10:30-6:30 . So local people have a better chance. To to see and enjoy the experience. Many locals, possibly the majority of working parents get out of work at 5:00. So they would have to only have Saturday as an option to see the museum at the current hours. The alternate hours would allow scouting troops, brownies, Cub Scouts all the kids groups, like that. Or families to come and see the museum during the week.

What a great visit!! If your a true sportsman, don’t miss out. A great collection of hunting, fishing and Native American relics. My wife and could have spent hours looking around, appreciating all the effort and talking with the woman running the store (owner). Sorry I didn’t catch your name, but thank you, your husband and family for years of hard work and effort to compile and share your collection. We wish you the best.

I have lived in the area for 7 years, and have never been to this place. Boy, have I been missing out. The studio is a gallery and a store. And as a bonus; there is a museum attached that is a must see for anyone.

Evil and Cursed. Go here if you're not a vegetarian and you would like to become one. I don't believe in malevolent spirits but if they exist they're definitely present here. Also there's a minion whale. So that's cool.

This is one of the most outstanding display of Native American artifacts I have ever seen. This is a free museum and for Nichole B to complain that the roof leaked is absolutely obscene. Her donation should have been getting on the roof to help a 72 year old man with the repairs. I myself being disabled could only leave a very generous donation. Thank you so much for what you have done for everyone!!!

An amazing little museum with over a century of Native American, Wildlife and Natural History. The animal mounts are beautiful and the Native American artifacts are like stepping back in time. Don't let the size fool you, it may appear small and unassuming from the outside, but you could spend hours inside taking in all the history and hearing stories from the owners. Dont miss this gem when in Northern Michigan!

This place is amazing. The owner is a great guy and extremely knowledgeable. The museum is filled with a variety of different taxidermy animals in dioramas. The family has owned and operated this place for it years and created all the dioramas. There is a lot of taxidermy there that can’t be do anymore and he knows the story behind everyone of the animals. If you get the chance to have a conversation with him I suggest you give yourself the gift of that. And than you can support them by purchasing something from the gift shop. The gift shop is large and they also carry moccasins. There is so much to see so make sure to a lot yourself sometime. Also the jacket is his and he was cool enough to let me try it on and pose.💯 worth it!

What a treasure of american history on display through a wide variety of viewing options. I was amazed and astounded at the energy and expertise required to put together this wonderful experience.. At age 77, I've seen many museums around the world, but the Spirit of the Woods is the most unique. a must see attraction. My Wife and I absolutely loved it. The Owners taught us the meaning of hospitality. Don't wait, see for yourselves.
