I use to avoid this store and have for years, I stopped in there a few months ago and I must say WOW! I think whoever is running that store is doing amazing! I have never seen that store look that good! As far as some of the recent bad reviews go...... they have no idea what they are talking about, this store is probably the best looking Dollar General I have been in! Aisles are clear (which says alot because I don't think they have any room to put anything when they get a shipment) them employees must be busting butt to keep that store looking that good! The ceiling looks great (looks like a new ceiling honestly) and no more leaking. Employees were very welcoming and had a great attitude...... I honestly can not find a single negative thing to say about this store! If you haven't been there in awhile PLEASE PLEASE go in and see! Tell them employees they are doing a great job, they deserve it!

I AM pleading with the entire city of dowgiac to boycott this location!!!Everyone favorite evening Lady of couse was working yesterday afternoon that was per usual working alone because not one other employee in that store shows up! she was so busy the wrapped around aisles...she was doing everything she could to keep people happy...it was so busy she had ran out bags at the register couldn't even go the back to get more people were so rude and nasty.. Clever girl she is pulled a roll of trash bags out and said hey if I can't go get bags for your items this it what we're doin.😆 This god awful miserable woman she was ringing up called her a stupid B...and actually took her car keys deliberately and very forceful hit her with them .. I could see that cashier was trying hard not knock this woman out which I definitely would have...all she did was fling her arm away this woman told her to exit the store never come back and have a happy holiday but her bag flew towards door and spilled...well Dollar general fired this poor girl after she was assaulted but the part that is so bad the situation it was her day off and got called in because someone called off..this corporation clearly cares nothing for there employees so truly hope she gets a lawyer because I will be the first one testify to the way there employees are overworked in a hostile work environment... Dollar General corp should be ashamed of there selves valuing money over there employees safety

The closed for at least 2 hours because they had a delivery! We wont be back, this truly the worst Dollar General within 20 miles!

The leaking roof has buckets, in most isles, catching water. This is in addition to the other comments made by guests. I wish the isles looked like the pictures the store has posted on here. Nice store, but needs a lot of management help.

The automatic doors are never functioning, there are always huge carts full of products blocking the aisles, the ceiling is falling in and there are usually buckets on the floor catching water, the floors are always dirty. The only positive thing I can think of is it's there when I need something in a pinch.

They don't put anything up about the digital coupons they want you to use your app to use coupons but in the store nothing is up showing what Digital Coupons you may use you have to dig through the ad on your app it's always a mess and always has a line to check out and here is in side the store 😡

Store was way too hot & only one cashier on register while there were more in the store that could've helped. Lines were way 2 long 2 have only one person running register.

I have read about how Dollar General and other stores owned by Dollar General are forcing their associates to stock shelves while trying to run the registers. That was happening here and it wasn't working. The employees were doing their best but they seemed stressed by all of it. The stock in the aisles was making a small store more difficult to move around in. Please reconsider this idea.

The store itself is a mess! They keep getting more items in so much so that the stuff is blocking the isles. The workers are freezing in the front of the store. I loaned them my heater. They remodeled the store a short while ago but didn't remodel the floor! Its disgusting! The ceiling leaks every single time it rains or the snow melts. They have buckets on the floor to catch the rain every time this happens. During the remodel, the front in-door should have been fixed. It was but it must have been Jerry-rigged. It keeps breaking. The out-door works just fine for some reason. Although I can tell staff moral is low, they still treat customers with the utmost respect. I love shopping at Dollar General but hate coming to this store. I've been to the stores in Niles, Eau Claire and Benton Harbor but NONE of them look like the one in Dowagiac. This store gives the public the impression they could care less about our community. This is unacceptable! There is another store that was recently vacated. Why can't they move there and save the hassel of "fixing" problems that can't be fixed?

They still have those carts with the boxes on them. They are blocking at least one or two of the isles. They don't have all their products on the shelves yet. Theresa lot of items still missing. The workers say that their stock truck comes in on Tuesday.

Cashiers are always pleasant but this location is atrocious. Cluttered, dirty, broken front door and litter surrounding the whole parking lot. I like the Dollar General stores for quick purchases but corporate needs to address the condition of this one specifically.

The store use to be a total mess with clothing on the floor and ALL the shelves had products in the wrong place so you couldn't tell the prices.The store recently got a complete remodel, when they were done the store was very nice.Almost daily you can't even get to the merchandise you want to purchase because the isles are completely blocked by carts of stock.Now weeks after the remodel, the store is right back the way it was before the remodel.Save you time and drive a few mile and go to the store in Eau Claire MI

Most of the time the workers are friendly. Only real problem I have with DG is that much of the time the isles are hard to go down especially with a cart. Usually a lot of stock piled in the isles or boxes. If those were not there it would be better. But most of the time DG is good. Just very hard to get around in there a lot of the time.

Newer male cashier's are friendly. The previous female cashier's cursed and were very rude. The store is dirty and very hard to move through with so much stock laying in the walkthroughs. The door has been broken for years

I rarely have trouble finding what I need at Dollar General but as of late, the after-holiday state of multiple locations I have attended have been unbelievable. Shelves were barren.. and I mean, VOID of all product simply because they hadn't applied the planogram that, in my opinion, should have been completed immediately after the holidays concluded. This is true for the Paw Paw and Lawton store.

I go to this store once in a Blue Moon and avoid it at all costs unless I need something and family dollar doesn't have it. I can't stand carts blocking isles and feeling like a need a nav system to get through the labyrinth. Yes, the isles are more prominent, but they still haven't dealt with the apparent lack of storage.

In general the quality of items is comparable to any other store. Check for quality. Like to shop there. Employees are efficient, friendly & helpful but overworked. There is often an awful line at checkout. More checkout people are needed.

It's a Dollar Store. You don't expect much. But this is the most cramped, dirty mess of a Dollar Store you will find. Inventory is blocking most isles at all times, the floor and shelves are filthy, and they keep a small radio blasting near the back of the store. Drive the 10 miles and go to the one in Eau Claire or the one near Baron Lake.

Pretty good location if you live or work close to it as opposed to Family Fair over on Spruce St.I only recommend Dollar General because it is a smaller store and a bit quicker to grab items such as towels, kleenex, birthday cards, clocks, a small selection of toys, bottled water, soda, milk, eye care and skin care products.Overall this is a great store and shopping here and with there', nabor Hardings (which mainly is a grocery store) you can go home with some good quality products.The only thing I dislike the most is the overall size of the building. I have never walked into Dollar General and not seen carts of boxes covering the some of the end caps, isles, or just in the isles which make can be crowded is it is. If you catch a glimpse of the back rooms from the isles you might see boxes stacked on top of each other.A few days ago I was doing there with my family and we saw two giant storage containers almost as tall as the building itself, sitting just on the west side facing the train depot. If all of this hasn't come clear Dollar General needs a bigger building!

Like going here first when shopping to see if I can find what I'm looking for at a more reasonable price, before going to the bigger chain stores. Good holiday decorations and greeting cards without draining the wallet.

They have lots of good buys. Their big problem is blocked aisles. You cannot get to needed items due to carts of boxed merchandise..Very irritating.
