Looking for a vet after moving from out of state, I found Dexter Animal Clinic. I was able to get in the next day for an exam and vaccines for my dog. My dog is highly anxious and stressed at the vet and the vet and vet tech were SO patient and kind. Typically, these visits are high stress for me and my dog due to her anxiety. They were able to handle her with care and do the exam and vaccines. Dr Nowicki also sat with me after the exam to go over any concerns I had and solutions for future vet visits to help her feel less stressed. It truly felt like him and the vet tech that helped really cared about me and my dog. I look forward to making this my primary vet and would encourage anyone, no matter your dogs stress level, to visit this vet.

My dog jumped out the window five minutes away from this clinic and broke his leg. I brought him in without an appointment, crying my eyes out. They dropped what they were doing (eating lunch) and took incredible care of him. They called several surgeons and helped me get booked. They were the best part of one of my worst days. Their kindness, compassion, professionalism and teamwork was exactly what my dog and I needed.

Ruth was so good to me and my cat today. We got a same day emergency appointment (when my normal vet couldn't get us in) and got my sick baby seen with little to no wait. She was very kind and I am truly thankful for her services today.

Not a good experience first time visiting with my puppy. The vet came in, didn’t introduce herself, wasn’t wearing a lab coat- I wasn’t sure if she was even the veterinarian. Then she proceeded to “examine” my pup which took maybe 10 seconds and said “yup, he’s healthy,” and left. I got charged $50 for this visit. Not going back.

Can’t say enough great things about Dexter Animal Clinic, wonderful place! We had our first visit there with our new puppy and the whole staff was so kind and gentle, they really made us feel at home and were very helpful with information about our puppy. We will be life long customers.

Our normal vet would not allow us to go inside for our terminal cat's end of life procedure. Not so with Dexter Animal Clinic! Dr. Hansen and staff were kind and compassionate and we both came inside with our precious cat. She spent her last moments surrounded by those she loved best. We truly appreciated this and will be going here for all of our pet care in the future.

They were able to schedule my cat as a new patient super quickly, and our visit (wellness check and some vaccines) was very quick. Ruth was great with my cat, who tends to be pretty nervous, and the fees were very reasonable. I’m happy with the visit!

I have gone to this clinic with all of our animals since I was little and while it may have changed hands the care and professionalism has not, Dr Ruth is wonderful. We recently had to put our sweet dachshund to sleep and they made the experience as difficult as it was loving and compassionate. If I could give more than 5 stars I would, thank you.

My grandmother went to this location since they opened many decades ago. They've taken care of her and all of her many pets for the whole time. Since she's not with us anymore, I would like the world to know that there's a good reason that her refrigerator is plastered with magnets from DAC. I scheduled a visit there myself because I moved into her house and was touched that a few people still knew her by name and recalled some great stories, even though she hadn't been there for several years since she went downhill. DAC may not have been the least expensive in the world (why would you take your pet family member somewhere cheap?) but these people were really important to my grandmother and to my family and we thank them for everything they've done. Please keep being the exact same even if the original owners had to retire. My grandmother never had a single bad thing to say about this vet and they even found something with my cat that all the other vets I've taken him to just glazed over. You guys are awesome and everyone should be going out of their way to support your hard work. -B. Kerkhoff

Been going here for 7.5 years and was always happy with the service. Dr. Jen did an amazing job removing a large cancer ball from our dog's leg, and it gave us another 11 months with our dog. The only thing I would say is the wait can be a little long sometimes, but its because they really take their time with each "patient" I feel. When we decide to get another dog we will for sure return to this office.

I came in hoping to get an estimate to have my cats teeth cleaned. They were very good to me on a previous visit when my cat needed stitches- got him right in and fixed up. The estimate then for his teeth was 300-500. On my recent visit the estimate is now 700-1000 and they said they could not take him into surgery without a multitude of shots and tests (none of these things were required for his previous surgery) so my estimated costs before the 700-1000 cleaning was 200-300 in tests and shots. 1300 for a teeth cleaning, even with extractions, is outrageous. I found another vet who quoted me 500-600, including all extractions, tests, and shots, so I'll be going to her from now on.

If you like to waste time and money, go here. All we wanted was to get our cat neutered. After they did unnecessary blood work, they proceeded to tell us that our cat MIGHT have a health issue and then told us all about their end-of-life services. They insisted we take our cat to the animal ER in Ann Arbor. The ER vet took one look at out cat and said we didn't need to be there and we were charged $50 for nothing.

I cannot say enough about Dexter Animal Clinic. When my furbaby Tom grew very ill very suddenly, they rushed his test results and laid out all the treatment options for us and were frank, but gentle with the reality that he did not have much longer. On his last day after he deteriorated dramatically overnight, they made special arrangements to come to the house for us to say goodbye where he was most comfortable. Dr. Anna is amazing and they even sent a sympathy card. I never expected such special treatment, even though he was a new patient. Thank you all!

The doctors are great with my dog. She is prone to nervous behavior but they always take their time and make her comfortable. This is also the only place I like to board her. They take great care of her!

We have taken our two dogs and two cats to the Dexter Animal Clinic. It is always a very clean facility and the staff is wonderful. We have also had our dogs boarded there and I always feel good knowing that they are being well taken care of. There are plenty of vets in the area, but I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I love the staff here, they have talented and compassionate vets and a great location for us located out in the countryside of Dexter/Pinckney - once when we had an after hours emergency Dr. Jen and her helper even came back in the evening to rescue one of our misbehaving dogs who decided to attack a racoon! Hats off to the folks at DAC, our two cats (Hope Kitty, and Luce) - as well as our two "american staffordshire terrier" mixes (Fergie & Rocky) are VERY GRATEFUL for thier care!
