*update* they have a new EBT machineSince having moved to Detroit a few years ago, Vernor food center has always been helpful and kind with a good selection of fresh produce and meat. Also a good destination for snacks and Hispanic cooking.Improvements to the store are lovely.

I always go before closing time but for some reason they close earlier than what their page states ? Last time I walked in there half an hour before closing time and I got told to return tomorrow because the office was already closed even tho they supposedly close at a particular time. Went again today and I got told to come again in the morning because they apparently close the office an hour early? Doesn’t make any logical sense if you close at a particular time then state that so that we don’t have to waste our time coming to you. Products are also a little pricey and meat isn’t the freshest neither which is why I don’t even purchase meat from this location. A few years ago it wasn’t all that bad but recently it went downhill.

This is a high-priced store. I live across the street from there and when I first moved here I went there because I don't have a car. Don't buy meat unless it's pre-packaged. The staff is very nice which is why I'm giving it two stars. P. S. The closing time is actually 7:45 so they can leave by 8(I guess they don't pay overtime).

I've shopped at this store many of times being that I used to stay 10mins away. The store is average for the most part however I usually had a feeling that my business was genuinely appreciated, a feeling you don't usually get from larger chain markets. I must say on the other hand you should watch your meat purchases there. The quality of meat was usually questionable at best. Hopefully they have changed that over the years.

The guy Tony at the western union would not Cash my check bcz its from flag star Bank. And its orange and grey bcz its from another Bank.From my work place that not cunstruction or other community Job. And not services to enhance potential . Job training the second time I got rejected my check is not fake!!!!He didn't give me a chance to give my number and show my ID either.Bcz I can't come in the morning bcz I work I got rejected there for coming the time I can!!!

Awesome store, nice staff, although the cashiers can be a bit grumpy but aren't we all a bit grumpy sometimes? This store is an landmark of southwest Detroit. All the Mexican moms go to either this one or La Fiesta. Around here it is called La Virgencita due to the virgin of Guadalupe which is plastered on the huge sign in the store's parking lot.

Nasty place 90% of the food on the shelves is expired. If you can manage to find something not expired it will most likely expire in a day or two.
