We surrendered our cat to this place because of in home issues with our two male cats. There was a promise made that if they needed to put her down a call would be made before hand so we could either be there or take her back. When we called for an update they first lied to us saying she had to get surgery before being listed. The surgery they said was to fix her. This seemed weird as she had been fixed about a decade before. When just now calling we found out they put down the cat with out a call or anything. They all played dumb but if you read the reviews this is not uncommon it seems. This is not anti cruelty this is a place that cannot handle a workload they act like they can and will kill animals to hide it. Truly bad people running the place. I’ve never left a review for a company online but wanted to make sure this didn’t happen to anyone else. DO NOT GO HERE

This place is horrifyingly bad. They lie lie and lie some more. We had to unfortunately rehome our cat due to moving, and we brought her here thinking they’d take good care. After ensuring us that they only put pets down for serious health concerns, they called us ONE HOUR after dropping her off saying she wasn’t adjusting well, wouldn’t let them touch her (we told them she’s shy and give her a few days), and that if someone didn’t come get her they’d put our cat down.ONE HOUR after we brought her. Do yall understand how unethical and disgusting that is? Please, do not bring your animals here if you care about them. We picked up our cat immediately and will be rehoming her elsewhere.

I was never able to see the pets. We had a cat at my home that came from this place. He was an incredible cat and he recently died. So I went to this location because its where I was told he was from. They gave me a card with a website on it and I didn't figure out how to set an appointment before finding a kitten another way. But apparently this was the location of a wonderful cat. He was nearly 20 years old, so it was long ago he lived in that location. I just really believe they should rethink the online adoption stuff. Picking a pet is an intimate process. You're not picking a TV.

They saved my dogs life, we couldn’t afford what our vet wanted (over $3K) they charged us less then $1K. The nicest, kindest people I’ve ever met, they took amazing care of our pup he’s now 14 and lived a great life. I will always be grateful for the work the Michigan Anti- Cruelty Society did to save my baby boys life.

MACS have doctors who cares. Have been there a few times. The prices for vaccines and treatments are very reasonable.

They where so nice a cared about the cats and kittens I had to take to them God bless them because someone dumped pregnant cats on my street and told them everything and they where very helpful thank you for what you all do

The worst place in the world... my 8 children were murdered the same day I left them here to find a home for them with lots of love since they were stray cats but cared for and fed by my family... Healthy, energetic and very friendly .. 😡 They would have simply told me they couldn't have them and I swear I'll come back just by hearing that they're going to kill them.... I betrayed 8 boys who trusted me by sending them straight to the slaughterhouse, but I really didn't know what they do to them here ... 😓😓😓😓

I'm not sure why anybody would rate this shelter as anything but 5 stars.My wife and I saw a dog listed for adoption on the shelter web-site, at 10:00 on a Tuesday night, my wife sent an email inquiry about the particular dog that we were interested in. I filled out the online application for adoption and submitted it.Just after 8:00 the next morning, Kelly, from the shelter, sent an email response with specific questions regarding our situation. She provided a phone number and my wife was able to speak with her.We live over an hour away, but unknowingly, it turns out, I work relatively close to the shelter on Joseph Campau.Kelly, at the shelter, recommended that I come and see the dog in person, and I did. I loved that little dog at first sight and knew my family would too.We already have a dog, so it was the shelter's policy to have the dogs meet, to make sure they would get along.Kelly made special arrangements for us because we live so far from the shelter.We adopted the sweetest dog in the world.I had contact with three different people at the shelter when I was there. They all truly care for the animals.I had never heard of The Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society prior to our contacting them about the dog that we adopted.Kelly and the other workers made adopting a pet as smooth and seamless as it could be.If you are looking to adopt a pet, contact them. I know you'll have a great experience like we did.

I've been a customer for years there a Low Cost Vet and there Doctor is smart as heck I truly trust them with my fur baby and they have there own Pharmacy and good news the Pharmacy Delivers to all there customers

I have a dog that was found took him in but he doesn't care for the long hours me and my friend work and we're unable to take the time needed for the tlc that he needs. We were looking for the right home for him but they are overcrowded and asked for us to try after the 1st of next year. They provided us with a list, but the list was outdated.And we couldn't find anyone to help.

They save animals and save lives. I had to rehome my cat spooky because I've been struggling from domestic abuse, and harassment in my community. I had to surrender my cat because I can't afford his care in a small room. I hope people understand they are doing the best they can with what they have. If you can offer them donations, help, community service, that would help them greatly. I'm also suffering from internal crohns disease.

I'm so thankful! Everyone was so kind and compassionate! I felt really comfortable leaving our beloved Magic in their care. He's a huge, spoiled, indoor darling, adored cat that couldn't accompany us to our new home. MI Humane Society said no occupancy for 35 days, and this place took him in lovingly! Praise Jesus!

This place is amazing they took care of my son's Pitbull and they wasn't that expensive they answer all of our questions and concerned about our puppy. The staff was kind & compassionate. Thanks so much for caring for Casey's needed. She's doing so much better.

Nearly all of my animals have come from this shelter. They are no nonsense, up front about everything. They make sure the animal is spayed or neutered, up to date on all shots, and in perfect health. The adoption fees are very low compared to other places you can adopt from, it essentially covers the cost of spaying or neutering and shots.This is our beautiful Callie. We adopted her from Michigan Anti-Cruelty a few years ago and she has made our lives so much happier. I love her so much!

This place is NOT anti-cruelty and they WILL EUTHANIZE your beloved pet!!! It has happened to HUNDREDS!!! Even after they call and tell you your pet is doing amazing and promise not to!!!! Disgusting place. Disgusting people. Needs to be shut down immediately. Effing liars and anyone who works here should be ashamed of themselves. PLEASE for the love of god do NOT take your pet here. Have been taking our pets there for a long time to the clinic. Recently took a dog I rescued from the Rouge Park Archery Range there with no tag, nor chip. Heard from the Friends of Rouge Park that it was there for at least a month. Definitely wanted to get him checked out, shots, nails trimmed, and to eventually get him fixed, tested positive for heartworm so now I have medication for that! Named him Archie since I found him at the Archery Range!

Do not Recommend! They will euthanize your pet after surrendering and even lie to you and say they won’t or that your animal is alive and doing well. This place is a living hell for animals and your babies won’t be in good hands. Please do not use this shelter the name “anti cruelty” is a Lie. Strongly suggest you use a different shelter if you truly care for them and want them to go to a good home.

If you ever need to have your pet put down, Do Not go to Michigan Anti Cruelty Society. Yesterday we took our precious Diva to put her to rest and today we found out that instead of them sending her to the place to be cremated for us to get her remains back, they instead cremated her with others after we left and are now left with nothing but an "I'm sorry". I'm sorry doesn't cut it, it doesn't fix YOUR mistake and give me my dogs remains back. No one should have to go through this on top of losing their fur baby. We repeatedly told them, we want the remains back. Please, do yourself a favor and DO NOT go there.

They went above and beyond. Please if you can donate. They are the most caring and have so much compassion. They help me through a heartbreaking time . When other vet. told a me that i could let him die on the floor or I had to wait days. But They got me in the same day and were so nice to me and my dog..

I would not recommend them. I repeatedly told them that I wanted my dog's remains back and the next day was told I'm sorry but she was already cremated with others. I'm sorry isn't a fix for your mistake. I trusted them and now my family has lost our fur baby twice. Unacceptable!!!

Caring veterinary staff from the front desk to the vet and assistants. They treated my cat like he was as special to them as he is to me! Definitely recommend them for your pets needs!!

I would like to say a special thank you to Kelly who not only took my call on Tuesday , July 11 regarding a lost dog that I found on July 4th and had a very hard time locating the owner which had posted him on paw boost and Facebook. I released him to anti-cruelty Friday with all the info that we had about the dog in hopes that they would be better equipped to locate the owner. I was very worried about the dog all weekend. (they’re closed Monday) I called Tuesday and spoke with Kelly and explained the situation. She graciously took the time to listen to my concerns, and went the extra steps and located the owner the same day. She also called me and let me know the dog and owner were reunited! I would just like to say thank you very much Kelly for taking that little extra time to ease both the owner of the dog and my mind.

DO NOT take your beloved fur babies here to be put down. Long storey short, we took our old sick family dog here to be put to rest and specifically told them we wanted her sent out for a private cremation. Instead, someone didn't do their job properly and the next day we got a call informing us that she was sent out and cremated in mass with other dogs. All they could say was sorry. Well sorry doesnt cut it. Our fur baby's remains are never coming home to us now. This establishment really needs to pay for their mistakes. The level of DISRESPECT we felt and received was UNREAL and UNACCEPTABLE.

We had a stray momma kitty die outside after she gave birth and the shelter took the kittens in the day after and helped us. We take care of a lot of Cats over on the 9500 block of Auburn and when I say they helped us they really came through and for that these people are loved. I couldn’t recommend this facility any more. They are fantastic living professionals ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😻😻😻😻
