Y’all gotta stop hiring kids that don’t understand the meaning of customer service. I walked in almost tripped over the broom and dustpan that was just laying on the floor. Got my items and headed to the front counter which was left unoccupied. And when the cashier finally did come up front there was no greeting because she was on her phone. Rung me up gave me my total I paid and was given a have a nice day. No receipt or nothing and I had to grab my own bags cuz she was busy sending a text. I’ll remember next time to steal something since y’all hiring lil girls that don’t pay attention anyway smh. Only good thing was the store was actually stocked. That’s the only reason for the second star…that Detroit for ya!

Unfortunately I had to give 1 star but I would've gave none. This location is junky and the manager and cashier were very rude. The manager who's name I don't know kept using profanity because she was upset corporate didn't pay her in full and facetiming her boyfriend. Also they wouldn't do a price change for something that was in the right spot but they failed to update the price on the shelf so it rings up a higher price. This location is embarrassing.

It was not necessary for the cashier to make a whole scene out of something so small. I will not be coming back to this store because I felt disrespected. I came in here about a month ago and I had a shoulder bag on my right shoulder, the cashier yelled out "Excuse me but you have to leave your bag upfront!" I said "This is my personal bag, I use it as a purse, it has my money, ID and other belongings in it" she said "Well that doesn't matter you have to leave your bag upfront that is the store rules" I said "I don't think that is a good idea. I've been to other Dollar General stores and they've never asked me to leave my bag upfront" she became angry and threw her hands in the air and shouted "FORGET IT!! FORGET IT! Do what you want!" All while there were customers standing there watching everything. I walked away and she thought that I couldn't hear her but I heard her laughing and mocking me to the customers she said "That doesn't even look like a purse. It's a bag it's not a purse" the customers started laughing. When I got up to the check out line her whole demeanor changed and she said "I didn't mean anything by what I said, it's just store policy that you leave your bag upfront I am just going by what the manager told me" That's understandable but it was not worth making a mockery out of me, she could have said excuse me and then pulled me to the side. There was no need to put on a whole show for the customers.

This location is HORRIBLE !! It used to be decent but not anymore. For starters, the store STANKS !! The smell of the store matches the attitudes of the cashiers... STANK. Extremely unprofessional, ghetto, loud and cussing every other word. Then there's all ALWAS a problem with digital coupons and never ringing up the prices correctly... That seems to be a problem at all of the locations. This particular time though the cashier wants to tell me that I must have just clipped the coupon, which these coupons were clipped a week ago !! I wasn't going to argue with this raggedy broad so I'll just take the stuff back tomorrow and get a refund and never ever go back to this location.It's always a problem though no matter the location when it comes to the digital coupons stuff never rings up correctly.

Went there yesterday and manager got mad for asking her for help. She was very rude and started cursing. Customer service is horrible all they do is stand around on the phone and try to avoid helping you would give her a minus 10 if I could

I was in this store today.. No one has to put up with disrespectful store managers!! I purchased some items that had digital coupons and some didn't match the amount on the receipt. I came back in ask the guy was he the manager and he said yes. I was trying to ask a question and explain my concerns. He proceeded to cut me off and tell me the store doesn't have anything to do with the app! WHAT?! After doing back and forth I told him(How about I just return EVERYTHING and you give me my MONEY BACK! People please report this stuff. I sent aemail and called corporate. He also was rude to his workers, I said something about that and told him he need customer service skills. He told me it was none of my business. I can go on. I will NOT RETURN TO STORE #14569!! And they lost a $88 sale for a $3 Question! The cashier was pleasant tho.

This use to be the worse store in the city, because they NEVER had anything in stock! Since they've remodel the store, its become my favorite! They have the best home decor item, and their frozen food are mostly definitely the cheapest compared to most groceries. 👍🏾👍🏾

The customer service is always good but the cleanliness of the store can be improved. There is always a cart or two lingering in the aisles and the clarence aisle is always disorganized. This location need more variety of products. This particular Dollar General is close to my house but I only go if absolutely necessary and I know for sure they have what I want (because they usually do not). However the Dollar General on Joy and Schafer is my favorite. I go there often. They always have what I need and the customer service is excellent there. The store is always clean and there is always someone around to help you find what you need!***Update*** 4/18/2022Terrible customer service. I understand that stealing is a problem at this location. However, workers need to be better prepared when dealing with a customer that wants to buy product. I wanted to buy (1) Tide laundry detergent (according to them it is a high theft item). I am not naive about the area I live in. I do understand people steal. However I was informed that there was the detergent I was looking for in the back. I also had other things I was purchasing. Once I got to the register I ask the cashier did she have a barcode she could scan so I could pay for the detergent BEFORE she actually goes to the back to get it. She said no. I then asked if she could get it and the ring it up and I would pay for it. She said no. I do not like that there was nothing done to help the customer. Why have product if you are not going to sell it.

I don't know how this manager has been there so long when he is not a people person. As I was walking in, there was a lady came in before me and asked what isle was the item she was looking for and he said back there she said what isle again and he said nothing. As we both got to the front, I proceeded to let her know she could write review about the store or call corporate. This old man (manager) told me I can leave as I had him on Facebook live. I'll definitely let people know don't go to the dollar general store on Joy rd and Schaefer in Detroit.

Stock on pet products are always low. I really like the stores location, but find myself traveling to Dollar General stores outside my area for the things I need. Dollar General company does not stock the stores in the inner city the same way they stock their stores in the suburbs. Sad to say.

The parking lot is always covered in trash. When you check out, the cashier has headphones on and having a full conversation. The store is so messy and cluttered. But it's better then going to the family dollar down the street and getting shot.

Store was very cluttered. Another customer says this store doesn't have nothing. I totally agree with her. Shelves were empty. Then I went to the checkout. The line was long and a customer ahead of me asked if they can open another register. The cashier response was no I'm the only one. Then, after several minutes past the manager on duty came and opened the other register. She seemed to be having a bad day because someone didn't show up for work.

This store never has a freezer section, I think the freezer has been broken since they opened. They always only have 1 register open and the cashier/manager tried to ring me up with bloody tissue in her nose...... This is one of my last resort stores to go to because it's always a mess and always a long line

I shop here very often. They seem to struggle with keeping ppl. The staff is not rude but very unprofessional & the store is usually junky. The isles are crowded with boxes or & they run out of supplies quickly especially the items that go on sale & lastly they usually only have one cashier

I love shopping at Dollar General stores, but this one is always crowded with racks full of merchandise in almost every isle. The staff was fine, I normally don't to that location because it's always "junky looking".

When i first went there . It was a girl with dreads her name was kira. She was the cashier the sweetest thing yu could ever find... i came back every day since that day.. the fired her for helping her customers to much.. then need to be shut down or bring her back i will never go back to the store again into se come back

They need to sale enough solid black tennis shoes for school and sneakers shoes solid black to for school. All I found was bigger shoes that doesn't fit my daughter.. she is size 5 for youth.12 Years old. All I found was summer flip flops and open shoes not appropriate for school. I walked out upset .. this is the third store where I walked out upset..

The management has changed in the past five years but Dollar General is a decent story just like Family Dollar or the dollar tree it’s somewhere for people to get home essentials they need without having to go to the outskirts of the city limits or pass the city they have Save five dollars off of a $25 purchase coupons that are attached to receipts, on Saturdays, save $3 of a purchase of $15 dollars or more If you complete it online survey.And of course seasonal markdowns

Very small selection of items. They didn't have basic things for the home in stock like brooms and toilet brushes. Very cramped in the isle as the stock wasn't put away.

This store is always closed early if opened at all... This is the worst Dollar General I ever been to in my life. Dont waste your time going... They really need to close petmen!!!
