We have been coming here for years, and loved the adorable shop. However, last year we waited around for at least an hour, as her hours are never posted and we found out in the past we just need to wait (she arbitrarily opens when she wants). We have made the trip and been so let down that it was closed all day, but just realized that’s the way it can be up here. This year we had a very unfortunate experience that sadly, we will never go back. We were patiently waiting (it was a Saturday afternoon, so assumed it certainly would open?) as we saw her inside and figured she would be opening soon (this was around 1:30 pm). My kiddos even waved excitedly to her. I’ll keep this part short, but she all of a sudden flew out of the door and started yelling at us about being closed “I’m VERY BUSY!!!!!!!” and “CAN’T YOU SEE I’M CLOSED?!” And as we tried to ask when she might possibly be opening again, she very rudely kept yelling at us, not letting us get a word in. Sadly, we left and will never be back. We love the store, but would never treat a person the way she treated us (especially so unprovoked). It was completely uncalled for and I regret my kids had to experience that. (EDIT: do yourself a favor and did what we did, stop by the adorable Mercantile store in Calumet. Friendly, reliable, tons of candy! The locally owned brother/sister store welcomed us with open arms! The contrast was significant.)

We have visited this store in the past, but hours are not posted and owner opens whenever. Selection of candy is good but owner is toxic. We were told by a local that she sometimes opens late, so we were waiting outside, and she came out and yelled at my wife to leave. She yelled that the store was closed and my wife and kids had to get off the property. My wife tried to ask if she was planning on opening today (Saturday at 1pm) the owner couldn't even give a straight answer as to what their hours and schedule was. Do they have seasonal hours? Do they have normal hours? No one knows, and the owner won't tell you, she'll just yell at you that they are closed!We used to love this store but we can no longer recommend it. Too bad owner has issues to deal with.

This is a very cute little shop. It is wall to wall candy. It is like an old-fashioned farm house, and there are baskets of candy on every wall and every shelf, and there is even a little side room with even more candy, nicely decorated. Such a fun atmosphere! And there are a ton of varieties of candies.

I absolutely love that there's an old fashioned candy store in CH. The owner is very sweet and has a wonderful variety; lots of penny and novelty candy. I've tried to stop on every trip to CH since I was a student at Tech!
