This place is perfect. We loved the view out the back. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. Beds were comfy. The owners are great. We talked to two families who have been staying there annually for decades. There is a great little ice cream and coffee spot just across from the main office. I would definitely stay here again. You can really tell the owners put so much love and care into the place.

Due to making reservations a bit late, we got to sample both the motel section and a cabin. Both were clean and comfortable. The extra room in the cabin was useful, as I won't leave my mountain bike outside unattended. Staff was nice. The very odd modern propane heater on the office porch was welcome as we sat there during the hailstorm; the woman in the office lit it just for us! The lack of AC (which few places in CH have) was only a problem during the bizarre Fall heat wave that enveloped CH during our first couple of days there. Definitely will stay here again!

The Bella Vista promises some of the best views of Copper Harbor at any inn in town, and the staff was very polite and accommodating. But the room offers little more comfort than that. "Minimally-supplemented spartan" would be the best compliment I could afford. On entering, the one glaring deficiency was lack of closet, hangars, or coat hooks to hang our windbreakers, hats, or shirts. The outline of where once a closet existed is still there, now replaced by a wood bench, but no pegs, coat tree, or shelves to replace the closet. The bench is it; there's nothing else to do with your stuff. Fortunately there was a luggage rack to make living out of our suitcase easier. The king size bed was comfortable, but the nightstand lights were vastly insufficient if you like reading in bed. The small, low-back chairs were uncomfortable (remedied by bring one of the deck chairs in), and there was no desk, table, or coffee table other than the nightstands, the top of the microwave, or the entryway bench. Odd, because there's a microwave for heating drinks or food, and a refrigerator, but no place to set anything once prepared. We remedied that by using the cooler we brought. The walls are thin, so you need to keep the noise down. We heard nearly every word from our neighbors. Most disappointing was the TV, which didn't have the bandwidth to view anything without pausing to load every 30 seconds. There were no instructions for the two remotes, so it was a steep learning curve initially. The bathroom was very clean, but again, very spartan: there are no shelves or countertop to place any toiletries; the vanity is literally motorhome size, and offers no space. If you don't have a bathroom bag which can be hung from a hook on the bathroom door, you're out of luck. The shower is small but sufficient, however it was in need of maintenance to remedy the surround which was peeling from its adhesive, promising a bounty of mold and mildew, not to mention wall damage. Perhaps these issues will be attended to during the off-season break. The Bella Vista, as the name suggests, offers a great view, but little else for the price they're asking and the promises of their website, "modern accommodations...and all amenities required for your stay." Trick me once, shame on you. Trick me twice: not gonna happen.

The staff was great and the rooms were fairly clean though very small. The bathroom and shower are tiny. This place, while probably the best lodging in town, could use some updating.

You really can't beat the view out of the sliding back door, and they have chairs right outside if you want to sit and enjoy the flowers and water. The rooms are comfortable, and clean. There is a restaurant and a store that sells ice cream and gifts, and a little coffee/ice cream hut all within walking distance. Good ice cream too!! They have free coffee on the porch in the morning, and little fridges and microwaves in the rooms, so your all set!!

Great little motel with a harbor view! Rooms were clean and comfortable, friendly and helpful staff. Coffee in the mornings and an ice machine & wifi for guest use. We came in without a reservation and the prices quoted were the same as the website and they found us a room (saved from the cold & rain!). Definitely walking distance to restaurants and shops in town. Would definitely stay again, recommended.Rooms: Standard rooms, fridge and microwave, heat and fans, nice sized bathroom.Nearby activities: Shopping, hiking, restaurants, waterfalls, fort wilkins. Hunters point Beach is a must-visit!Walkability: Easy access to restaurants and shopping in town.

(the opposite of our previous hotel in Houghton)Finally the owners were very friendly and informative. If you’re in Houghton area contemplating a visit to CH just do it and stay at Bella Vista :-)

Disclaimer- The photos of the interior of the cabin were taken the day we left. I neglected to take photos on arrival night due to being tired and wanting to get settled in and unpacked! We stayed in Cabin #2 at Bella Vista, which was remodeled for 2022. It was our first time using a cabin for our stay at Bella Vista and chose that route for the ability to more easily make our own food and have a full-size fridge. The folks at Bella Vista are kind enough to let folks bring bikes inside, so we had just enough room for the 2 of us, our luggage, and our bikes. As a courtesy we used a plastic shower curtain on the floor where we had the bikes sitting. I was thrilled a broom and dust pan were available! There is silverware, dishware, and some cookware. Provided in addition were salt, pepper, dish soap, and paper towels. It was fun to use the little countertop stove. (Some units will have an actual oven setup.) So all you need to bring is food to make!We had a shared parking spot with cabin #1, and it was plenty spacious for our truck and the neighbor's vehicle. The location of Bella Vista is fabulous- it has a beautiful lake view and it's super easy to walk around town. This is a great option for a place to stay if you're looking for something cozy and convenient that has the option of a wonderful view. (From our cabin we had to walk to the lakefront motel room area.)I made my reservation a year in advance- for best communication one should call them directly.

We visited the picturesquely located motel in the first week of October. Book well in advance as Copper Harbor is popular during the fall colors season. The main motel overlooks the lake, Isle Royal house upper rooms have a nice view. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Coffee, tea and microwave are available on the porch outside the office. Service is pleasant, professional and excellent.

Location is great and our room was clean. When we went inside our room we found the cleaners left the patio door and screen open, so we had about 20 flies/bees in our room I had to get rid of. Also the patio door lock didn't work, so our room was never really secure. The shower head was about at chest level for me (6'4") which wasn't great. They do have a canoe and kayaks for guests to use free of charge which was nice.

This is a very cozy by the bay motel. Great view and a very nice and clean room. I love the cabin feel inside. We stayed 2 nights here. I believe the lady at the front was the owner and I have spoken to mike when I've booked the room and they are very nice people. In addition this is where you can visit the Copper Harbor Lighthouse tour. Shout out to Noah who took us to the lighthouse. He gave us a private tour. If you wanted to stay in copper harbor. I highly recommend this place. The price is reasonable.Just minor thing to remember that no microwave in the room it is in the Check In front porch .

Check-in was painless, as was check-out. We stayed for 2 nights in cottage #8. We liked that it felt a little more private than cottages 1-4, and it had plenty of space on its front porch/deck to lay out anything we needed to air out or dry. Cable TV & WiFi were plusses. There was ample space in the 2 bedrooms and "living room" area. However, the kitchen and bathroom were considerably more cramped, and getting to the latter you had to squeeze through the former if someone was cooking in there. But there was a full-size fridge and all the pots and pans and utensils we would need. Also, no AC, which seems to be not uncommon in the UP, but it sucked a little as when we were there, it hit at least 80 both days we were there, so it took a little while to cool down inside in the evening. Overall, though, nice location and amenities, friendly staff, no major complaints.

Warm welcome before check- in . Informed of hot coffee on deck and also ice. . Room clean, nicely decorated. Bright with white and lighter hues on walls , as accents.. window screen open to lakeside allowing fresh air breezes inside the room. Small area to place bags/ luggage/ purse, etc. small chrome “closet” on wall with six unremovable hangers. Newer and very clean small fridge, microwave and small counter area. Plastic cups provided. Decent amount of towels. Nee tissues and new toilet paper. Shower, however, did have some orangey mold along sides and wall. Bedroom rug had large stain between slinging window and bed. But the people who are here working make up for these issues 10 fold. I needed to borrow a cell phone charger and plug in block and no hesitation to stop what gentleman was doing in garage/back end area to immediately obtain this for me. Woman also helpful me and extremely polite, well spoken and offering excellent suggestions and assistance. The yard is impeccably attended with colorful flowers in boxes and sling borders . Very pretty pond with water flowing, Many people studying here are participating in the weekend long trail bike event and are very nice and type you’d want at a closer spaced motel. Location is superb with water views and greenery and beach with Adirondack chairs .If I were to come visit this area again I would stay at one of the rooms/cabins at this wonderfully run place on the water.,

Perfect location right on the water, couldn't stop looking at the little bay right out out sliding door. Rooms are nice for the price, didn't realize there was no a/c but that's okay since it was a cooler weekend. Bed and pillows could have been better and the shower head is really low! I'm 5'6 and had to bend about 1/2 ft to wash my hair, but no huge deal. Would stay here again if we decide to make the drive to Copper Harbor in the future.

It's not a 5 star resort, but the views are phenomenal and the beds are comfy. That's all we needed! The room included a mini fridge and microwave, coffee in the morning at the office, a decent bathroom, though the tub definitely needs an update. Absolutely would go again!!

My mom and I stayed in one of the little cabins, which was itty bitty and rustic but very clean. The toilet and bathroom sink were new, which I appreciated, and it has a full-size refrigerator for longer stays. The beds were the only negative in my book - definitely very old and not very comfortable, but for a couple nights it's not bad. Very nice owners, good price and an outdoorsy feel that's just right for Copper Harbor. Location was great too, just a quick walk to the pier and a coffee shop.

My 3-person group is staying in one of the tiny cabins off the side of the line rooms themselves; this is the first time we've stayed here. Normally we'll rent local cabins, or we used to stay at the lodge, but the Bella Vista is a wonderful option! The rates were incredibly cheap, compared to other options (<400$ for 4 nights!), and the cabin we got was a little one bedroom, with a secondary futon in the tiny living room area. It came with a bathroom and shower, and a full service kitchen, almost (I'm sure if I could figure out how to use the tabletop stove thingy it would've been the whole nine yards). The fridge and freezer are a perfect size for being able to store your own groceries, and there's a microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, etc., so it can save you money this way instead of eating out for every meal. The location is very easy to get to, and you can walk the entire town very easily. Service is very kind, very nice owners. The cabin/cottages are unserviced, as in no housekeeping, but I like that better anyway for the style of staying. The only real complaint about the Bella Vista is that the wifi service is very spotty and nearly... doesn't work. This isn't unexpected with such a large area of cabins and rooms, but still worth noting. This is probably a nice little gift to parents who think their kids spend too much time on their phones or computers, but without any phone service in the harbor... you're essentially completely cut off from the outside world, so bring some knitting needles or colouring books to stave off any boredom. OTHERWISE THIS LOCATION IS GORGEOUS AND PLEASE DONT HESITATE TO BOOK HERE! ❤

Can't say enough good things. Very accommodating staff and friendly hometown feeling. Beautiful location, perfectly kept grounds, and simple, clean rooms with comfortable beds. We stayed in a room one night and a cabin the second. Both were an excellent value.

It is a beautiful Location. The cabins had no view of the water. they are across from the hotel. It was like we all shared a space. Next time I won't do a one bedroom. It was clean & the manager was kind. The only negative is when we did check in no info was given about anything including passwords. It would be nice to have some things to do or how to do. :)

The view is unbeatable. Service impeccable. Walls paper thin. Internet beyond unreliable. I was gonna knock it harder because of that, but honestly time slows down when you're not shackled by technology. Yet to find another place quite so tranquil as the sleepy town of Copper Harbor.Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend to anyone bearing these things in mind. Also despite what it says, there is no A/C, which is fine when the weather is cool. A great breeze comes off the lake. Listening to it churn in the morning with a cup of coffee is an experience all its own.

Great location. Very clean rooms. Very hard mattresses. Bathroom was roomy and clean. Views are beautiful. Very nice firepit. Don't plan on using the firepit after 9:30pm with music, or the owner will run out like he's Napoleon while being rude and screaming like a lunatic. A different approach would have been much better received. A friendly warning was never given. He screamed at us like we were college students, instead of middle-aged responsible adults. We certainly would be happy to be back if the owner would learn how to deal with his occupants in a friendlier way. As soon as the payments were processed on check-in day the smiles and courteousness were gone.
