We came this evening and they were short-staffed. They seated us in a large room, and there was a very very large and loud party next to us. We asked to move a bit away.. it was a little better but they were still loud and we could barely talk to each other.it took us a long time to get seated, a long time to order. it was an hour before we ate. The tacos were good, the prime rib sandwich was very good.

Awesome dinner on their opening day. Plenty of different food options ranging from more reasonably priced to more expensive dinners. Drinks were reasonable and they had a wide selection of cocktails and local beers and wines. Service was really quick and food was delicious. I’ll definitely be back again to try more! Excited to see what’s to come with this new restaurant.

Great dinner and experience here with my wife last night Our waiter, Brandon was top notch! We frequent this place often and this was the best experience we’ve had thus far! Everything came out in a timely manner and tasted great! Best Brussels sprouts around hands down! The deserts are to die for, so decadent and delicious with whimsical visuals as well. We shared the apple cherry chutney pork chop and that’s by far our favorite dish! Great drink selections and if you like Bloody Mary’s, definitely get theirs!

While visiting a bed and breakfast in St. Joe we were told about a new restaurant that would soon be opening in Coloma. Always looking for an opportunity to try a new place I decided to take my husband to a bourbon tasting as a Father’s Day adventure a day early. The restaurant is housed in an old service station/restaurant near Paw Paw Lake. They have retained the original brick from the service station as the backdrop for the bar...very cool! We were led to their upstairs event space where Adam gave us a brief history of the 5 ryes that we would be tasting while Kali did a great job of introducing us to each food pairing. We both enjoyed all five ryes but chose the Whistle Pig served with Salted Caramel Pork Belly as our favorite, hands down! We ended our tasting with a delicious blueberry bread pudding served with High West Double Rye!! Life is all about experiences and this is one we’d highly recommend!!

We stopped in for the first time the other night and my food was great! Burger was cooked a perfect medium (my request) and the fries were incredible. It was a slower weeknight, so we were able to enjoy a nice, quite dinner by the fireplace. Our server, however, left a little to be desired. She took a while to make the initial visit, didn't tell us the specials, and then seemed like we had to wait several times throughout the service for various things. As soon as it came time to collect the signed bill/tip though, she wasted no time... Even coming over to try and take it from me while we were chatting with one of the owners. We didn't say anything at the time because it wasn't that big of a deal and won't keep us from coming back... But that's the reason I've taken off one star. The food is definitely worth it; you won't be disappointed. Also worth noting is how wonderful it is to not be so overwhelmed by a giant menu. The menu here gives plenty of variety but fewer options then other places, giving them the chance to really make those select items shine!

I was excited to try this place as it looked like they were onto something. The front part of the restaurant by the bar has the best vibes. We were put in the back and its just like a big room nothing great.Service and drinks to come out were slow.I had the pick tacos and didn't even eat them. Texture was soft and mushy. My friend had the chicken and he said he liked it. They were out of the pork filet he wanted. Veggie Primavera was better than the tacos. My suggestions is get a seat in the bar, order a beer and have a sandwich. Keep your expectations in check.

This place really impressed me. If you're the type who is disappointed with the more traditional (GFS) high-end restaurants around this region you'll love it here. The food speaks for itself. Really fresh ingredients, nothing is over-seasoned, everything cooked just right. They nailed the details. Great atmosphere, too. I had great service, but it wasn't too busy so I can't comment about service during a rush.Editing to add, we came back during a summer Saturday night. The place was packed. Seemed half the place was being tended at a time there was so much wait staff and table bussers. So they can really scale with the crowd, which is great!

We had reservations for a Friday night a couple weeks ago. First time visit. We drove 45 mins in heavy rain and were so glad to arrive.(Backstory: when we made the reservation we asked about the music and no limitations were given to us so we figured we were good. We wanted to see our friends who knew the band and eat dinner/have drinks/relax.)The host stand is in the entry area next to the bar. There are a few tables out in this bleak, chilly entryway, which is all you can see. The host asks if we have a reservation and seats us literally right next to the host stand. What we don’t know/weren’t told is that there are 2 other rooms, the last of which is where the music will be starting in 45 mins. Oh well. We sit and assume we will be trampled by the dinner rush on their way to better seating areas.Someone nice comes over and offers us a different table because I had said we were there to see the band. We are glad to move. Now we are directly in front of the stage in the back room and the party is already so loud we can’t hear. (We will later realize the acoustics of this room -designed with that stage/setup in mind- are awful and echoey and we are all going to be deaf by the end of the night.)Anyway Brandon comes to take our order. We get drinks. For how busy they got since we arrived our food was fairly timely, I thought. The very impressive-looking menu we had researched is based on about a cup of garlic per plate. It stuck with us for days. Boyfriend’s short ribs were so dry. The risotto was sad and pasty. That ceasar salad is pretty great tho.As we needed refills and had been passed by at least 3 times, we had to go ask Brandon (who was standing by the drink station watching the show). These poor servers have no hustle, don’t know their menus and do not multitask. Meanwhile the big table is howling louder than the band and we need to leave before we have an aneurysm. What a mess. Then apparently the toilets all started to overflow and we escaped. It’s such a cool building and they have good ideas, but falls so far from the mark. You can’t sustain your new customer base with high prices and soggy zucchini. We will come back someday, maybe, if we can sit outside and we don’t have to worry about getting out of there in one piece doused in garlic.

Amazing, fresh, creative food. Excellent service from the sweetest gal! (I wish I could remember her name...started with a V and she is a nursing student.) Loved everything from the cocktails to the desserts. Can't wait to return!

We were really impressed! Stopped by last week for lunch after we heard many local people raving about the quality of the food. I ordered a Beef and Cheddar sandwich and my wife ordered a Black Bird Burger. Wow. We expected a nice meal but the food greatly exceeded our expectations. The flavors of each entree were elevated to a level far above the simple lunch that we expected. And the portions were so big we enjoyed ithe take home just as much the next day. A big thumbs up!!.

The Balckbird is one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. It was our anniversary, and I called ahead to try and make the night a little special. To my surprise there were even flowers at the table!!! Food was incredible, you can really tell the difference in a scratch kitchen. Have to try the wings!!! The cholulu butter and the agave bbq sauces both crushed it. Anytime anyone I know goes through the Southwest of Michigan, I'll be telling them to stop by. Cannot wait for the next trip out!!!

We were visiting Michigan for the weekend and I was looking for the best spot in town for a more upscale dinner. So glad we came across this place. The pork tenderloin was amazing!

Had an absolutely wonderdul time! Put in our reservation notes that it was our three year anniversary and the dessert (pictured below) was offered complimentary the second we walked in the door! (totally unexpected but very kind)Our server, Paul (I believe) was top notch and obviously very seasoned. Had the tacos (subbed for shrimp) and the Blackbird Burger. Everything was served at a perfect temp, evenly flavored and the fries were basically crack. 😆Oh, and if are jonesing for a REAL old fashioned, they will for sure hook you up.

Cool place with local history, main dining area I could see being a bit loud but it is a cool building with outdoor seating and bar as well. I really liked the flavor of the curry mussels although a number of them weren’t fully cooked as they weren’t opened at all. The blackbird salad was very good but the blackened salmon didn’t have much flavor, it was cooked perfectly. The Mac and cheese is made there and was very good. Fries came out luke warm. Our waitress was very friendly but not the most attentive as there were only two tables seated and had to ask several times for water refills. I may go back to try again, some items are reasonably priced and others seem a bit steep. Almost rated a four but based on price, service that day and food ended with a three.

Restaurant is very accommodating and knowledgeable about food allergies. Wait staff is always very friendly. Most importantly the food is absolutely delicious. Best gluten free menu I’ve seen in a restaurant.

First time visitor and not that impressed. First off, there is a big step down to the hostess that is not marked properly and I jarred my back. Once we got seated, the waitstaff was friendly. We placed our order and the waiter said the kitchen was running behind which was surprising because they were not that busy. That was an understatement as we waited 40 minutes for sandwiches. Overall the food was good but pricey for what it is. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was not a chicken breast but a small chicken tender on a bun. Chance of return is very slim.

The first time we went here everything was amazing. That's why we came back. We went her yesterday and that unfortunately wasn't our same experience. We ordered the elotes dip, which was honestly the best thing we had there. However, our dip was delivered to the wrong table. We had to go pick it up ourselves from the other customers. Our drinks were then delivered to them as well and they knew right away they were ours so told the runners.I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and my partner ordered the Blackbird Burger. We both ordered a side of brussel sprouts with our meal. When we got our food my Nashville Hot Chicken was missing the pickles, the Brussels were missing the balsamic and bacon (they were literally fried brussels with no seasoning what-so-ever), and they put shredded cheddar cheese on my partners burger instead of the smoke cheddar it was supposed to come with. Not only that, his burger was overcooked and dried (he asked for medium), the brisket was dry. The only good part was the bacon. It took our waitress forever to stop by and ask us how our food was. We told her everything that was wrong and it took them a decent while to bring the pickles for my sandwich and the balsamic for our brussels (they didn't give us the bacon that was supposed to come with it, but at that point we gave up). We were so hungry we just split the burger without the right corrections. By the time they got back with the right ingredients my sandwich and brussels were cold.I felt more should have been done to rectify the poor food quality. The waitress gave us a slice of cheesecake for free and literally said, "this is on the house, I'm sorry you didn't like your meals." I know she was trying to make up for it but a burger that costs $19 should be top quality. Culver's burgers are way better than our experience here this past time.We want to return if the food quality is like it was the first time but are scared of it being the way it was yesterday. Paying $85 for two people to eat is way too pricey for poor quality food and experience.

Had a Memorial weekend late lunch of shrimp and salmon and blackbird burger and both were fantastic. Good service and outdoor dining with our Cecilia (12 year old Jack-Rat) make this a really great and unique spot to dine. Worth the 40 minute drive. Also, they rolled out the red carpet for Cecilia’s 10th birthday and we’ll always love this place!

Wonderful atmosphere, creative and tasty menu, and overall a nice spot to get a drink and a dessert or appetizer. I made a silly request in the box for my reservation asking for something to be placed on the table and they were very sweet to accommodate me. I loved the service and the server was very attentive to my party. I will definitely be coming back for more meals with friends and family 🏆

What a nice surprise. We were heading home from Chicago and found The Blackbird Waterhouse on line. I was expecting a Mom and Pop restaurant and found a great little gem. I had the wild mushrooms and sweet potatoes soup... delish. And the rib eye french dip with Carmelized onions. My wife had the short rib sliders with hand cut fries. The atmosphere is kinda an old supper club, with a nice fireplace and knotty pine walls
