Old fashioned, friendly service that you probably won't find at the large chain stores. The selection is great and the prices are good, often better than the other pet supply stores and warehouse clubs. Pets are welcome. If you have a question, the staff is helpful and willing to offer recommendations. It's unfortunate that the store on Livernois in Troy closed several years ago and still sits empty.

My two new puppies and I love the choices of bulk treats that they have. The staff is very friendly here. I wish they had bulk cat treats as well. We have 2 cats that are leashed trained, and they love going to the pet stores with us. It would be nice if they could try treats to see if they like them before we buy. Just like the dogs can.

This place is awesome!! Great prices, lots of variety, friendly and helpful staff. I have a Staffordshire who is allergic to most proteins. She can't ever have any treats because of it. They had fish based treats for her (herring). Lots of choices for kibble and everything t under the sun for non canine and feline pets top.

Val's is a neighborhood pet store. It's been around a long time! The staff are helpful and will help you load your car if needed. They have a good assortment of supplies for more than just cats and dogs. They have live crickets if your pet needs them...

It's rare that I can get up to vals while living decently far from the Royal oak location but when I do, it is such an easy store to get in and out of and their prices for the wet canned food that I purchase for my cats is far cheaper than pet supplies or any other store I shop at. There are two younger ladies who are by far the kindest cashier's they have. There are other cashier's I've dealt with in the past that are totally fine but just not that chatty, which is totally ok with me but the younger girls do tend to chat a bit more and are a bit more friendly with the customers. Prices and the ease of getting in and out is well worth shopping at this store!

Amazing prices on bully sticks for dogs. $12.99 for a 3 foot stick. Always get them from here as other places are ripoffs.

5 employees up at the front of store having a grand time between themselves. A female employee did finally come when I was standing there waiting for someone anyone to acknowledge I had a question. While checking out by the way I spent $213.00 on items I asked if I could get a .99 cent mouse toy for free. Nope we can’t do that. Seriously I order from Chewy which I guess I’ll start always ordering my supplies for my animals. Seriously I asked I’m not a thief and to not say sure thank you for your business. It was a no so my answer now will be no to your establishment. I guess your customers aren’t worthy of a little mouse toy for free. Chewy loves my business all day long and I get free toys and treats just for giving them my business.

Has alot of selections for bones and treats for dogs, very few sweaters and dog beds to pick from. Not one employee asked if I needed help or even said hello when I entered the store. Store needs to be updated and cleaned. I did find some good prices on toys, which is the only reason I gave 3 stars instead of 2

Friendly neighborhood shop for our feathered, scaled or furry family. They sell pet food and supplies as well as pet clothing. I shop here often. It's not a huge retailer. The people there seem very nice and are helpful. Support your community and small businesses.

This place first caught my eye when I saw my name on a sign! Their selection of food and treats is awesome. Nice to see a family owned business in a world of big box stores. My dog devours all the treats we get, and I need to go back soon to buy a box of pig ears. Seriously can’t find better prices anywhere.

Great place to stock up for most pet types with a wide selection of cat,dog and bird food. I wish they'd expand to include a decent layer ration and chicken keeping basics like wagerers, etc since there's really no place around that keeps that stuff.

Excellent selection of dog and cat supplies. Their wild bird seed selection is awesome. Prices are decent on the items I bought. They have an aisle for small animals but the letdown for me is a lack of parrot supplies. There is some bulk food, some toys, and some pre-packaged food but it's only in small bags. I usually buy 35 to 40 pound bags. Store is clean and stock doesn't look like it's collecting dust like some other stores I've been to. Personnel were friendly.
