This place is huge and has a great amount of options to buy surplus or new items, camping gear or air soft stuff. New and used items inside, tremendous amount of pins and many unique items. Staff were very friendly and the prices were comprable to many online.

We ordered several items from General Jim's Toys for Xmas for our son. He loves them. When we noticed there were a couple of parts missing, I reached out to the store. They immediately sent what we needed and followed up to make sure we got it. I highly recommend doing business with General Jim. I know my son appreciates the WWII items.

I placed an order online for a Cobi tank. My son was putting it together and realized the wrong book was sent. I contacted general Jim’s online and they immediately got back to me, send me a replacement and a return shipping label for the wrong item. AND they sent me a follow up email to ensure everything was ok. This level of customer service was above and beyond. My son has a wish list- all from general Jim’s- and we will not hesitate to purchase from them again! Thank you Ge real Jim’s!!!

Bought a pair of hunting knee high boots from Jim's. Wore them not even one whole archery season and they started leaking. I explained to her I used them to wade through a swamp...and she interrupted me by saying "so they got punctured".....lol they are knee high boots ment for water I assume.....I explained to her no I waded through a soft mucky swamp with no sticks or anything and their simplest task was to not leak. I never kept my receipt so when I called the lady told me she couldn't do anything, than when I told her I'd post a Google review she than told me she would knock 15 percent off on another purchase but she would need to me to return and keep my faulty boots. Obviously I don't want the boots but I should get a full refund if you want them back? It's my fault for not keeping a receipt but something tells me you'd have a problem regardless. Choose wisely what you buy from this place....I told very good care of those boots they where the first knee boots I've ever bought in my life and they should of lasted at least an a month.

This is the single best surplus store I've ever set foot in. Very clean and organized and a great selection of camping gear. everything is actually usable surplus gear unlike alot of other stores. I will definitely be back here again and again.

Amazing store! Worth the money, not bad prices considering it's military grade stuff. AAA service and equipment. They range from ammo boxes/crates, military tents, Vests, helmets, boots, antiques, and all the way to shell casings. A variety of amazing things in there to fit your needs! They have plenty of clothing as well. Great place for anyone! A lot of history is there.

I have found the staff at General Jim's Surplus in Clare Michigan to be extremely enthused with General Jim's and super knowledgable about items available at their store. I was in search of an item for a close friend and was very impressed at the level of interest and thought she put into my request. Stopped in on our way back from being up North and received very rude treatment... was planning on spending some $$$ on boots but the employees started turning the lights off 30 min before the store was supposed to close. We couldn't even read the tags on the boots because they turned the lights out. Then as we were attempting to try on boots were rudely told "just so you know we're closing." Don't know if I'll be back, very dissatisfied and I was very excited to find a new pair of boots. The selection was really good.

Plenty of army supplies for great prices. Some of the greatest treasures can be found in the small items near the cash register. Love to come here and explore all the supplies. There are always a few interesting surprises and many useful products.

I have not been here in 5 years. I love coming here. I am prior service and they had almost everything that I wanted. I was in need of a military grade poncho. I came away with a German military poncho. Plus a few other goodies. The people were very nice and very helpful.

Awesome place to locate those "hard to find" items. They have a very LARGE selection clothes, holsters, gun cases, pelican cases, engines, etc. Jeff (the owner) is VERY knowledgeable. Jeff and his staff are polite and helpful. We will be back shortly to buy some more treasures!

Well, the actual military surplus items were as expected, yet higher priced than necessary.Other than that, most everything was made in China or similar.I checked every hat I saw in the entire store; didn't find even one made in USA!The rope, including parachute cord, was the one exception I found that was made in the USA.Be aware though that the carabiner, D-rings, etc. next to the shelves of rope were all inferior products/made in China.Look further away to the right on the back wall at eye level for a few quality/worthy climbing and rappelling accessories in a locked case.One more warning: shelved with the otherwise all USA made ropes, there is a boxed item claiming to be a kit with a grapple hook and rope worthy of climbing inside that appears to be a cheap foreign third rate product although I could not find where it was made - I certainly wouldn't trust it with my life.

Had a bad experience, I won't be shopping here. I purchased a pair of rubber boots and when I wore them outside my foot got wet I noticed a small crack on the side of one boot i couldnt find my reciept but asked if i could trade them they said no, that other stores sold them, so for a pair of boots under 20 bucks they lost any future purchases from me. Oh and I also left them and told them they could sell again and rip someone else off

“The best of the best of the best sir!” General Jim's is easily the best military surplus store in all of Michigan, and I should know because I've made it a goal to go to almost all of them. Their selection is HUGE, their store is clean and organized, their inventory rotates reasonably fast for a surplus store, prices range from bad to good depending on what you're looking for. They have everything from civilian uniforms to military issued, modern tactical gear, tents, containers, climbing gear, boots, happysuits, foreign military stuff, backpacks, body armor, and to top it all off their building is conjoined with Jay's Sporting Goods. They host military vehicle gatherings and are actively involved with the collecting community. I always leave with a bag or more of stuff. A MUST SEE every-time you're in Clare!

Didn't have a good experience. Was treated rudely on the phone when I called because we had the wrong wall to our supposedly new wall tent. Has a great selection. But the service is below satisfaction
