I understand wanting to protect dogs from bad situations, but because my male Shepherd is not fixed I was unable to adopt a female fixed Shepherd because he MIGHT be territorial. They observed them together for like five minutes and he was not aggressive at all. Didn't even bark even though there were like 20 dogs in the kennel barking. Well, anyways they just screwed that dog out of a good loving home on a what if and maybe. I guess I will just go to a breeder and not bother with the BOB BARKERS. Not impressed. Also told me a week ago they would mail me my remote for my dogs training collar that I dropped in their parking lot. haven't received it yet. They have a Facebook page, but do not respond to the messages I have sent after I can see that they have been read. Really makes me upset. My dog was profiled.

Took my dog there to be cremated. Every time I go there to try to pick up his Ashes they tell me it's go to be 30 days then 8 to 9 weeks he has been there for two months now I still don't have his ashes they been given me the run around they the lady that goes has your number we will call you I wait all day no one ever called me to I want my dog ashes it don't take two months

Terrible society!!!They don't answer your phone call or call you back and been waiting for over a month and a half now for the return of my beloved dog I had for 14 years . It cost me $150 for them to steal him from me. I even called the director and she brushed me off to the front desk refusing to deal me my concerns. Sick people at this facility in Cheboygan Michigan!!!!🤬🤬🤬😥😥😥😓😓😓

I’m very frustrated with them. We had our dog cremated back in October. We were told we’d get a paw print of his paw for keepsakes when we pick up his ashes. 3 weeks later we picked him up and there was no paw prints with him. We called that day and asked about them and was told the guy who does them wasn’t in that day but once they find them he will send out in mail. Never received. Come December, I call. She said that they found his paw prints and she’ll send them out that day , asked for my address and everything. It’s December 19th and still no paw print. I called again, she said oh they are still here, im waiting on a box big enough to ship them out so they stay safe during the shipping process… it’ll be sent out by the end of the week. ok, how big of a box do they need for a paw print? not big. Also, when you say you’re shipping them out that day, then do it. This is ridiculous. If you don’t have the paw print just simply say.

My girlfriend and I have been searching for a German shepherd companion for a long time. It is our dream dog! I was driving to a dealership to buy a truck when my girlfriend pulled up an ad on Facebook from Cheboygan humane society with Holly on it. We immediately pulled over and filled the paperwork out. We were ecstatic when we were informed we are the first to contact them and get to meet Holly. Shes had a rough past and just needed a good owner to set her straight. We have only had Holly for two days now and she has already improved significantly and we both love her. She protects us with her life and even off leash will not leave our side. She is extremely loyal. Everyone we interacted with at the shelter was extremely kind and a pleasure to interact with. Thank you so much. ❤

Support our local CCHS, stop funding the aspca they don't fund us locally! The CEO of Aspca makes. $600 thousand dollars a year and the CCHS gets none of that money! This is horrible, you can't afford to adopt any longer, vet prices are ridiculous! So sorry I've adopted 5 can no longer afford.

Cheboygan Co. Humane society is AWESOME! They have a trap and release program for stray and feral cats. They provide you with live animal traps you take them down to the center they will spay or neuter them give them a rabies shot and give them back to you to release back at your house! And it's virtually for free!! It's all done by donation so you can either donate or you don't but they still fix the cats and send them on.

The customer service was great; however, the place smelled and the kitties didn’t seem to be taken that great care of. We adopted a Persian cat that had mats in her hair and her eyes hadn’t been cleaned in awhile.

Told us we could come pick up our adopted dog..walk him out..played with him ect...then we get back in and she says unfortunately we didnt realize that another lady wanted him too...so thank for getting me attached and was gonna be my service dog...

On 4th of July weekend I lost my best friend after almost 12 years. I was a mess when I brought him in to be cremated. The staff, especially Deputy Collins, made it a little easier. I didn't feel rushed, I didn't feel judged and they went out of their way to try to accommodate a special request I had after I had already dropped him off. I never wanted to leave him only to have to pick him up in a different way. They made me feel like he would be in good hands.

My grand daughter bought two kittens from cheyboygan humane society... With in 2 weeks of owning them... One of them had worms coming out it's butt. Took to vet cost her $350. Now 3 weeks later... They have constant diarrhea... Now have feline covid.. this time costing her $450. Plus a cancer test. She paid $60 for each one... Being told they were wormed and vetted. And within 2 weeks of having them worms so bad. A 18 year old .. full time college full time work..first apartment... and has spent over a $1000 on vet bills in 3 weeks. Buyer beware as they lie to the services they have provided to their animals. Then have you sign a paper you are responsible. These people are trash

I adopted my dog from here nearly a year ago and it was a great experience. Dawn was incredibly kind and responsive throughout the process. She even reached out after the adoption when she learned that my dog's sibling (who she came to the shelter with) had a tapeworm and provided us with the medication at no cost. It was a great experience and I'm grateful to the humane society for my new family member.

The CCHS is a very nice facility to help you find a new furry friend.Mary and the staff are kind and caring individuals, and provide a great service to the community.When in the area, my wife and I always pop in and drop off LARGE bags of pooch and kitty kibble!....It's ALWAYS needed and much appreciated by the critters and staff. Cleaning supplies help also.We check the wish list on their site and help any way we can!THANKS for everything you do.

Enjoyed bringing my two daughters in to see their puppies. Friendly employee let us take one of the puppies out for a walk. Shared with us about each dogs personality even though we were unable to adopt them as they wouldn't get along with our other dog. Very enjoyable visit.

Really was looking to adopt a cat. Found 2 that would of fit right in. One had 3 legs and so so friendly however.... After checking my vet and finding out my dogs are all up to date and the one cat I have is all taken care of also and fixed and talking to my landlord to make sure it was ok they wouldn't let me adopt any. Reason why is my 1 dog isnt fixed! The cat is the other dog is and but she isn't so that was some big issue. I was there to save a cat and bring it home but was denied just over one of my 2 female dogs not being fixed. They all get shots on time and bravecto to help keep them safe. I bet they just put them to sleep anyway at least they could have had a life in a home with me. I'd like to add my oldest dog is 10 I've had her 9 years the other is 3 and I got her as a puppy at 8 weeks. The cat is almost 2 and was gotten at 8 weeks also so it's not like I just get bored and toss them out either! Hell our bunny in an indoor litter trained and 5 years old! Yes I'm pretty salty about this whole situation. I would never ever go here again!

They have always been very helpful and I have always had a very good experience adopting there, I would recommend people to adopt and rescue animals, they make wonderful additions to any family. Please adopt and save a life.

Only reason I gave one star is because I had to for this Review!!! Let me start .. When you first walk into the building the smell is disgusting it reeks of dog poop and is Nasty, then you are (greeted) and I say that sarcastically by a VERY RUDE NON SMILING RECEPTIONIST AT THE DESK!!! I inquire about a certain dog Very large Dog at the shelter she don’t say nothing and Slams an application on the counter “ here fill this out” 😳 so I proceeded to fill it out all the while trying to be nice to ask questions etc!! I ask again about the dog I wanted to adopt and she says what she needs to then says She does Not Know A thing about this breed nor has she even heard of it !!!!!!!? I said I know the breed I’ve had one a couple yrs ago I adopted at This same shelter he got lymphoma cancer within a yr of adopting him and sadly passed away ( this is why I wanted this dog so bad) plus my boyfriend and I did our research Thoroughly before adopting . I might add I currently own a German Shepherd and a Chihuahua ( that was also a rescue) and the dog I wanted to adopt was for my shepherds companion sense the little guy and her can’t really play and she lost her best friend .. well I filled the app out and the rude person at the desk asked about the other animals in my home ( now mind you I am totally honest on my app and I know some aren’t !!) I she asked if we owned our home I said yes then called vets to verify shots ( all clear) SHE ASKED ABOUT LICENSE FOR MY DOGS I HAVE ... nope so I hurried in my car to get both dogs I own their license tags and by the time I got back was to late to go back to pound, So I sent an email stating I have license tag in hand I’ll be here first thing in AM to adopt the said dog! Which she responds ( We don’t hold dogs it’s first come first serve here) well ok I thought (again Very Rude ) so the next morning I get up and I drive there and fill out the paper Wk and BOOM HES MINE ( She was still Rude and Very unpleasant) she made the apt for him to be neutered, she then said I’ll send you all his stuff the owner sent in with him and had an employee load it in my car ! She finished all the paper Wk and handed it to me stating He was mine I could pick him up Friday after his Surg.. I was so excited took my paper Wk walked out drove all the way home ,,, and she calls me ( Can you bring your shepherd in for meet and greet) I did I suppose I just walked in the door !!!! So I get my dog ready we go up there , she’s at the desk and again Rudely says Take your dog out there and I’ll go ge the dog , ( Ok) so I’m in the parking lot all the other dogs are barking there is a animal control officer there and she comes out with the dog I want to adopt with another person so my dog is already freaking out because of all the commotion ok so she sees the dog and the receptionist and this person and starts barking and her hair is up Right away the receptionist says( NOPE SHE IS SHOWING WAY TO MUCH AGGRESSION) 😳😳and was a good 10 feet away never even let the dogs close to smell Nothing and walks in the building I put my dog in the car walk in and she sat in need to talk to Mary! So I’m waiting she goes in and talks to her in a closed office ( I thought was Unprofessional) because I should have been included in this conversation , comes out and says From what I Saw I can’t let you adopt the said dog !!!!!! After I was all approved etc? I was livid I said for one you can’t go by that that was BS and she said (Your dog is too aggressive ) 😳 and had my check in between her fingers I snatched it out of her had she asked me to send papers and stuff back in mail I Said You want anything you’ll have to come get it after all the running around I’ve done and gas and money I’ve spent put up with her Rudeness etc ( Nope) not doing anymore , what gives her the right to even make a call when she is Def Not. Professional don’t even know about dog breeds or Nothing ! I drove away so upset ... I WILL NEVER NOR WILL I EVER ENCOURAGE ANYONE TO GO TO THIS SHELTER ANDILL ALSO STATE IT IS A HIGH KILL SHELTER !
