I order at least once a month from Jake's Country Meats I primarily get their bacon, sausage and smoked pork chops which are all excellent and I have had their fish and many of their other pork items all of which are delicious. They put a lot of thought into how they raise the pigs and other animals to ensure that they are taking proper care of the land and animals. Besides having high quality food they also have high quality service always working on new ways to better serve their customers. So while yes buying from Jake's is more expensive the meat is better for you and your children. The farmers are taking better care of the land and the animals(which helps insure the prosperity of our children) , and you are supporting the local economy not some giant company that doesn't care about anything but profit which also benefits our children.

I bought several items at the self help store. I gambled on the precooked smoked ribs and it had no instructions on best way to prepare. I Google how to reheat ribs and gave it a try. They were tough to pull off the bone. Would have been nice if there was some print out in the store on the best way to prepare. Overpriced in my opinion.

We've loved everything we've ever bought from Jake's! Their bacon, sausage and smoked pork chops are the best. We also love their smoked fish! They are a wonderful family that really gets to know its customers. We love stocking our freezer with locally produced meats from a smaller family farm.

We discovered Jake’s Country Meats at the LaGrange Farmers Market years ago, and we’ve been fans ever since. All their products are excellent—pork, chicken, fish, sausages, etc.—but my favorite is their bone-in pork chops. The flavor and juiciness can’t be beat. Plus the whole family is so friendly and helpful whenever we shop. I also enjoy the email newsletter with updates on what’s going on at the farm. Next up is a visit to the farm—maybe this summer.

I enjoy going to our local farmers market and while it's the fruits and veggies that get me there, I always stop at Jakes to stock up on pork chops, fish and a variety of bratwurst. The quality and flavor is the best and the team working the tent always seems glad to see you. It's like meeting an old friend who just happens to know everything about they sell. So find a farmers market where they are at and treat yourself to some of the healthiest and tasty protein around.

I have bought products from Jake's country meats for several years. It would be hard to pin down just one product that is my favorite, so I won't do that. I will say that I have almost never been disappointed in any product. The smoked meats have just the right balance of salt and smoke, fresh meats are just that -- fresh and tasty. You can even get recipes that give great ideas for using these products. Nate and LouAnn, and their family are wonderful people to know.

We love getting pork, fish and poultry from Jake's, plus it's fun to chat with Nate. We're so lucky to have the Farmers Market and winter drops in walking distance to us. We love the jalapeno brats, bacon, whitefish, chicken halves, hot dogs, deli ham, pork chops, smoked ham hocks and turkey. The $5 surprise product is fun and never a disappointment. We feel so good about the care they put into their animals and the resulting quality, besides directly supporting the farmer without the middle man.

We have been purchasing Jake's products for several years, and it is always consistent. Everything is bar none. Their spicy Italian sausage is king in my Italian kitchen. We've purchased sausage from the best mom & pop Italian delis around the city, and Jake's beats them all. The hickory bacon is so good. So is the chicken. Truly quality.

My 13 year old will not eat pork unless it is from Jake's. The difference in the flavor is that noticeable. We have recently tried the fish and we loved the quality and flavor. My favorite part is of course the people. When you are buying from people this nice who also have the highest quality food it feels like being transported to a different time and place where relationships and greatness are more important than convenience and cutting corners to make a quarter.

I found Jake's when I was searching for a good source for pasture raised chicken. We decided to buy a few whole chickens and pork chops to give a try. Let me tell you, the pork chops were absolutely life changing! :) Knowing that we are no longer supporting torturous factory farming conditions for the animals that feed my family is a pleasure in of itself, not to mention that everything just simply tastes much, much better!

Delicious pork! The bacon and pork chops are my favorites. Once you taste the difference in quality with humanely raised animals, there is no going back. I am sooo sorry for the awful way the animals are treated in the large industrial pork industry. We have to support our farmers who make it their mission to do it right, like Jake's.

The heirloom pork that is raised in pasture is better than any pork product you will find in stores, excellent flavor. The thick pork chips are perfect for the grill. Highland beef products are a cut above "regular" beef. I've ordered many times for the Meat Drop and the order has been correct every time.

I first encountered the Jake's team at the Logan Square Farmers Market. Have been buying bacon (3-4 different kinds), pork belly, pork ribs, and pork chops from them ever since! I'm lucky to have the Dill Pickle Co-op close by.Also, if you have room in your freezer, buying a whole pig is the way to go.

Top quality food, with many delicious choices in cuts of pork, beef, chicken, fish, and more. Their family commitment to the land and clean food is admirable. Always friendly and informative service at the farmers markets, but you can also buy their products through the year at “meat drops”, local natural foods stores, and at the farm in Michigan.

We just got a whole chicken from you at Logan Square Farmers market at $6 a pound (twice as much as a grocery). When we got it home, we saw it was frozen 7/11/2021 - A YEAR AGO! Also when we opened it, one leg was already sliced through, like someone tried to cut it apart and then changed their minds. Just kind of entirely suspect from our point of view. Not at all what we expected when we got pricey meat from a farmers market.
