My husband and I adopted a dog from Sanilac County Humane Society. They were very helpful and answered all of our questions. They helped give advice on what we can do during the first few months while our new pet is adjusting to it's new home. They were amazing!

We adopted a 7yo dachshund named Luigi from this shelter a few months ago and it was the best choice of our lives! After reading his story about losing his owner we felt such a strong need to give him the best life possible as we recently lost our 19yo dachshund and we felt the same pain as him. Together we lifted each others spirits and couldn't be happier. He is a good boy and we love him so much! (We take him everywhere so you can maybe catch him strolling thru a park or store in MI) !The woman who assisted us on adopting, thank you so much! The interview process is smooth and not overwhelming. I highly recommend adopting from this shelter!

This Wednesday 12-22 was my very first time there..The ladies there are awesome..Thank you so much for your help with food for my two dogs and my two cats . It's been near impossible since my husband's semi accident.. We have went without food , water, toilet paper, etc..But, my poor dogs went two and half days without food and that hurt more than anything else.. Thank you again so much ladies.. Wonderful people. I am truly happy that they were able to help spay my 2 female barn cats.Probably within the last 3 yrs they have helped with spaying and neutering about 20 cats that were abandoned by someone and the cats decided to stay at our farm where they are truly loved.Thank you for helping to keep the pet population down. Spay and neuter you animals.

The Sanilac Humane society is awesome!We have had 8 successful spay and neuter done, with much care!They are very kind to humans and animals.The price is great too. We travel almost an hour to get to them, so worth it!!

Awesome place to adopt your pet. They also have a place in Lexington, Michigan called Society Pets which offers coffee and put-put. Eventually expanding into something far greater. It's a great thing to adopt a shelter pet, our little Daschund was adopted from there. Great place to adopt, great volunteers work here and are willing to extend themselves to help in your endeavors.

I adopted s 4 year old cat she was a great cat,unfortunately her and I didn't match,she is a pretty girl her name is june ,I returned her back were I adopted her please she is a lovely cat don't let my bad luck with her ,ruin her love ,I will miss her, I just wish we could of hit it off

Will not even let you see the animals unless they have all your information, including driver's licenses number. I am looking for a specific size and coat. I do not feel I should give up all my privacy to look at an animal that will most likely be at an adoption event at some point.

These folks are GREAT! My last three dogs have come from SCHS and two of them are still providing much enjoyment in our lives. (Smiley crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2012 at the age of about 13.)

I became attached to a cat named pepper after my cat had ran away. i visted everyday (cause we live 2 houses away from it)to see him so my grandmother decided to adopt the kitten so my grandmother filled out some papers so nobody could adopt him but us. 2 days later my grandmother grabs 200 dollars and we go down there.. what did they say? "He's already been adopted" which happens everytime we decide to adopt a pet from down there. I am truly dissapointed with this humane society

It was horrible. We were denied due to the age of our current dog and vet history. It's crazy we were able to adopt a child but can't adopt a dog something is wrong with this picture. I think you should look into your applicants more than what u see on paper.

If they had negative numbers I would give them a -10. I took a cat there today I found and was hurt and they denied him. What place denied a cat that needs help. They told me to call animals control. I said no cuz they would put him to sleep and the lady says not necessarily. Really, and these pple are suppose to help animals. Smh

Excellent no kill shelter.... I've been working with them lately to tnr cats from huron county.... these folks are professional!!! I will not hesitate to use them for anything animal related... call them and ask questions....they really do care and value the lives of your furry family members.... two thumbs up... and thank you again for all your help in bad axe!!!
