The rolls here were delicious, a bit too far on the sweet side for me so I would forgo the icing next time. They were fresh out of the oven so they were extra delightful.Currently it appears that they only serve the rolls and coffee and the only seating is outside. I'm not a fan of the cold but I'm sure it's a great spot to have a morning roll and coffee in the summertime.

Delicious cinnamon rolls with a very delicate flavor, perfectly baked. Also, some really good Norwegian rolls. Great outdoor space with homemade log furniture. I love this place!

Such a good treat! The cinnamon rolls were the perfect texture with an amazing taste. We were also surprised to learn that the owner roasted the coffee beans that morning as a perfect compliment. Both were definitely worth the short detour off 31, so don’t hesitate to take the excursion.

This place is the best! They have my absolute favorite cup of coffee! I can't find any place that can match the quality of the coffee! And cinnamon rolls? Same.. unmatchable!

The delicious smell of coffee and fresh baked pastries hits you as soon as the door opens. The cinnamon rolls are as big as my head. Highly recommended!

Everything was delicious as always! I had they add a little ice to my coffee, and it was the perfect drinking temperature. The caprese was the best I ever had! The mozzarella cheese was definitely fresh. We also had the meatballs, which have never disappointed us. 10 stars!!

So happy we stumbled upon this place while walking with another couple after our overnight stay at the Buchanan Loft. Apparently we are the only ones who misreads the sign as "Gus Tavern" and thought we might get a mimosa out of the Sunday morning visit! But the cinnamon roll and buns with cardamom and dark chocolate were even better - out of this world delicious! While we waited awhile for the fresh bakery items, it wasn't a bother as the owner is lovely and we were able to watch her bake and exchange stories. Regular customers also stop by to chat and the lovely outdoor area is a great spot to pass some time. We look forward to returning whenever we're in the area!

holy cow, that was a goood cinnamon roll. also she roasts her own coffee beans. now that i drink espresso i usually dont enjoy coffee, but my oh my was it amazing! might be the best cup of coffee ive ever had. worth stopping in if youre staying in/around new buffalo

Best cinnamon rolls of my life! The cardamom flavor makes me swoon. All other cinnamon/cardamom rolls are ruined for me now. The Ethiopian coffee pairs perfectly with them and is so good and smooth I can drink it black (a rarity for me). I literally lifted the lid to check if my husband had added cream because it was *too* delicious to just be black. Looking forward to using the outdoor seating in warmer weather and doubly looking forward to expansion of the menu over the years. Love love love!

I first heard about Gustavsen Cafe in the South Bend Tribune article by Mary Shown. What really triggered my interest in Gustavsen Cafe was the "pan-roasted Ethiopian coffee". To get a really great cup of coffee is rare in this area. Most local restaurants serve watered down flavored coffee.My sister and I stopped by on a Sunday morning to try a cup of coffee. We noticed most of the customers were ordering the cinnamon rolls not the coffee. The owner, Lise, was selling them faster then she could make and bake them. In fact, customers were walking out without the cinnamon rolls because they had sold out. Lise told them to come back in 25 minutes and a fresh batch would be ready. My sister and I happily walked out with our large cups of hand roasted Ethiopian coffee! What a treat! Rich, robust and flavorful coffee. If you are a coffee connoisseur you will not be disappointed in stopping by Gustavsen Cafe. Our only criticism is the largest coffee cup was not large enough! (:

My friends and I really enjoyed our trip to the cafe. The coffee was very yummy, the cinnamon rolls were great, and our dogs really loved the dog treats. The owner is very lovely and we will visit again if we come back to Buchanan.

This is a small business in the town of Buchanan. The sign says bread and coffee, does not mention the freshest and best tasting cinnamon rolls ever. The outside is the cutest little Norwegian style cabin, inside the lady behind the counter told us she sold out of everything earlier, but just had a set of cinnamon rolls. Out of this world deliciousness. It was the only thing to eat from them, but I will go back everytime I visit Buchanan.

This has become a favorite spot for a little treat with my hubby or a friend or two. In the summertime we love riding our bikes over from Berrien Springs and dropping in for some coffee and a cinnamon roll or a boller ( plain roll)with butter and jam or cheese. The rolls and coffee are always fresh and delicious! In the winter it’s a great place to stop by and get reenergized after cross country ski or shoveling. The outdoor seating has the shade you need in the summer and the cozy fire for the winter-just dress appropriately. Lise is a great host too♥️ 🇳🇴

Visited gustavsen cafe for the very first time on a Friday around noon. Was extremely disappointed. They had nothing other than coffee because the cinnamon rolls were all pre-ordered and sold waiting to be picked up. No sweet bread either. Because of the extremely limited hours you think the owner would make enough pastries to last until 3 pm closing. Also was very shocked that the business doesn’t shovel or salt the pathway to their back door which was very snow covered and icy which could result in legal action if anyone falls.

Not giving it five stars. Did it automatically. I give it 0 stars and here is why. I went there for the first time today. I walked in and walked around the counter and the owner snaps at me that it will be at least 45 minutes until anything is ready. That would have been fine and I would have gone back in 45 minutes but the way she was so nasty makes me never to return. I had heard that the food was delicious but I will never know
