Everyone is friendly, and you can tell they love their 'job'. I adopted Wren(cat) there. Definitely worth the drive!

Great organization. All animals are kept in foster homes while in the rescues care. The process for adopting is very through and several phases to assure for the best fit homes. Important to remember that there is only one of each animal and 100's of applications. From those say 50 have the references respond as needed and vet references cleared. Then a home visit and maybe 25 great homes for an animal. Because you may not get the dog you applied for does not mean the rescue doesn't think you wouldn't be a great home for an animal it is just that only one home can be chosen for each pet. They keep your application on file if interested at a later date. Fostering to adopt is also an option of being a pre-approved home for future animals as well. Also, remember the rescue is 100% volunteer based so there may not be someone there to answer every phone call because they maybe at a rescue or aiding in an adoption or running supplies to a food truck. Leave a message and they will call you back. Email is great too and may get a response from someone working remotely.

We did not end up adopting through Claws and Paws because we found a different puppy in the middle of our search, but I just wanted to share how kind and incredibly great this organization is. We had a really hard time finding a new pup, and this rescue went above and beyond to try and help our family find the right fit. I mostly worked with Mary, and she was so fantastic, even after I let her know we ended up going another route. Mary even asked if she could see a pic of the new addition and wanted to know all about her when I'm sure she was busy and had a lot of other things to do.Just for comparison sake, when I got a call from a different rescue about 5 minutes after we adopted our new little, the lady on the phone said "good for you" and hung up. Completely opposite of Claws and Paws! They do really great work for the animal community and I would highly recommend working with them if you can. They care so much about getting the right animals into the right homes and are extremely nice.

I started fostering for Claws and Paws Rescue a couple years ago. I have never met a group of people so dedicated to helping, saving, and giving dogs and cats a good solid home. They don’t get paid, but spend hours and hours every week, not only rescuing animals, but making sure they are all up to date on all vaccines and shots, all spayed and neutered, and all socialized enough for their forever home. After fostering 14 dogs, from the youngest puppy, to a traumatized senior pup, and interacting with the founder, and several of the volunteers....I couldn’t recommend this group of dedicated people more.

My husband and I have adopted 3 dogs from Claws and Paws. This organization is thorough about making sure the pets in their care are going to the absolute best homes. Homes where the animals are sure to get proper vaccinations, preventatives and any other veterinary care needed. Two of my pups are litter mates and had a rough go of it in their first few weeks as they were an oops liter. Mama pups owner didn’t have the means to support 8 quickly growing pups. So off to volunteer foster homes they went and by the time we adopted them they had their first set of shots. Our 3rd adoption was of a sweet girl from a puppy mill/abused background. She was fully vetted and sterilized when we adopted her. They give great care for pets in their care and pets are not auctioned. Same price for all of my pups!

So impressed with this rescue from beginning to end they made process super easy. We Absolutely love our boy Kirby( aka Bamboo) so sweet and smart. His foster momma sent us a letter with his schedule which made his transition to our home a breeze. Thank you for everything

Great group of caring people! I've seen them go to great lengths to help animals in need. Smooth foster and adoption of our happy, funny senior guy - which they took in immediately in an emergency after his person passed away.I saw a review that said they took a dog back out of a loving home just because they wanted him - there has to be more to this story because C&P doesn't have time or resources to spend taking dogs back out of good homes. If they removed an animal (which their adoption contract clearly says they can) I trust they had a good reason - when you truly care about animals sometimes you have to make tough decisions. To me, it proves they really care. They are clear about their rules and policies - for the benefit of the animals they serve - all you have to do is follow them.

I recently went through the application process for new pup. I had my references checked, vet history checked, and virtual home tour. I had the home tour on June 1, 2020, and sent a follow up email on June 3, 2020 to inquire about the status of my application. I didn't receive a call until 8:45pm Sunday, June 7, 2020 to be told that my my adoption application was rejected. When I asked why I was not considered, I was told that because of my "recent graduation from school" (Graduated from graduate school in December 2017 - THREE YEARS AGO), and that my future career was unpredictable for remote work. I have been in my career for 2.5 YEARS, and am PERMANENTLY REMOTE. This detail was not verified by the Rescue, where I could have provided a letter from my Firm. The second reason was that I live with my parents, and if I move, the Rescue could not guarantee that my new adopted companion could travel with me. I confirmed in my application that I was living at home with my parents, and saving for a new home to purchase myself. The woman who did a virtual home tour also asked for my parents to be present to confirm that this was the case, and that they were onboard with having a new pup at home. She received this confirmation and support from my parents. What I can't understand is why have me go through the reference check, vet check, and virtual home visit, if my application was denied due to this type of personal bias? I would also like to note that during the Virtual Home Visit, your representative took screenshots of my house without notification of intent, nor asking permission to do so. Ultimately, I shared my personal information with you, had pictures taken of my home without permission, only to be denied after this entire process by something that could have been decided by the application itself. At the end of this all, when I asked the representative if I would be considered in the future for an adoption, she could not confirm that this would be possible.I have adopted through Heavenly Paws and Paws for Life in the past with such a positive and pleasant experience. When working with your Rescue, I have never experienced such unprofessional conduct. To be denied on personal bias, and to be given a call on a Sunday night with the intent of leaving a voicemail for a rejection. Adding a new companion to your family is supposed to be an exciting and hopeful experience. Working with your Rescue has been nothing of the sort.It is because of experiences like these that lead people to buy puppies and not adopt.

Drove an hour and a half to get there. The sign in the door said, WE WILL BE BACK AT 2:00. It was almost 4:00. We sat there for awhile, other people were showing up. A volunteer from there showed up and called the person in charge. Sad they wouldn't be back and to go to the Humane Society. We got there and they closed at 4:00‼️ TERRIBLE‼️

This rescue is a great group. We have adopted both of our dogs from CAPR and they are just amazing ( the dogs and the group) This rescue saves many animals in terrible situations and I know doing this really tugs on their heart strings. It is nothing for them to be up til wee hours of the morning figuring out how they will make room and get more fosters to take in an animal in need.Drop what they are doing at home to all meet and feed baby pups at the spur of the moment because they were taken from their Momma too soon. Rescuing a Momma dog and her 3 pups from a bad situation and placed them in a wonderful foster home.It might look simple to the public but it is not, there is SO much involved, vetting, transporting to vets, keeping up on food and litter, planning events, planning fundraisers so they can soon find a new home for the office and emergency rescues. Picking up animals, doing meet and greets, taking care of the bills, keeping the adoption files up to date, posting apps for adoption, call people for references, adoption events.Putting out donation canisters. Oh and don't forget cleaning the litter boxes! If you are looking to adopt please consider a rescue animal first, they are all looking for love, stability, care, and security.

I cannot say good enough things about this rescue group. They do everything they can to keep all animals safe and find great homes for those who truly want the animal for themselves, not to be given away to someone who is not vented through the application process which is a must do. IF you feel that breaking a contract is ok then of course you will leave a negative review, but if you follow the rules of the contract then there should be no problem and obviously this has happened to the naysayer on the review page. We are a very busy, busy rescue group and have many, MANY cat, kittens, dogs and puppies that need to be adopted. Reach out to Claws and Paws if you are having doubts and someone will be willing to answer all your questions with honest answers.

When you adopt a pet, you consider it family. You love them just as much as your human family. And tonight Jack, my brother's dog, was taken from us without cause by paws and claws out of West Branch. When you look them up you only see positive things. You see how many other animals they have and them asking for volunteers to help with the load. You don't see things like this. Where they are taking back pets in loving homes because they wanted him back. Where they hassle you throughout the adoption process and stalk your Facebook along with calling and harassing you as well. So for everyone wanting to adopt from a shelter or rescue and everyone wanting to volunteer to help shelter pets, don't go through claws and paws. They obviously have enough funds and volunteers to come take back pets in loving homes.

I am a foster (since 2015!), volunteer, and an adopter through this rescue! We are all people of the community who work together for as many animals that we can. We have a thorough adoption process (vet and personal references & home check and follow up) that the animals go to good homes. All the animals are fostered IN HOMES, fully vetted UTD and spay/neutered.

Someone dropped off 2 cats on my property in the woods. I contacted Paws and Claws and informed them that I was going on vacation and I can't take these 2 cats because I have large dog.I sent pics to them of these 2 cats to post to find homes for them. Every time I call, seems like my calls get ignored, it's not like they're busy, I drove over there and they only had 1 cat in a cage. I'm losing patience with this group. I'd rather take them to the Roscommon shelter but they know me there and know I dont live in Roscommon.

Adopt elsewhere! I’ve foster to adopt Jax a 11 month old pup for more the a month, filled out all the adoption papers and had them come out and inspect the house. when with no notice they came to us, and told us they were taking Jax because they found someone who wanted to adopt him. The people here will run through all the circles and then take your part of your family away, not to mention they will stalk you on Facebook and if anything is not perfect, take your best friend away. Please don’t make the same mistake I did with these people, and adopt from a real shelter.

This organization is AWESOME ❣️, they help so many animals find their furever home with a furever family who care!!!!!!! They don't steal animals and sell them to the highest bidder !!!!!!!!! They have rules and are cautious when placing the animals with the families to make sure it's a great fit for both !!!!! Anything other than good reviews shouldn't be paid attention because obviously something was wrong in their situation and possibly lost their animal for good reason !!!!!! I HATE people who don't take care of their "family" member !!!!!

This rescue is the best. The people are friendly and make sure that the pets in their care go to good homes. The fosters do a good job of training with the animals and make it possible for them to succeed in their forever home.

It is Tuesday, November 2, 2020 and I have been trying to call Paws and Claws rescue on and off, every 10 minutes for the last 4 hours. How is one to adopt an animal if no one is ever there? Do you the employees need to be retrained? Do the employees need to be replaced? And do the employees care? Unfortunately yes to all of those.
