I called to adopt a puppy today. The gentleman that answered the phone (after 3 phone calls) told me there were no puppies there. I assured him that he had some puppies there, since a family friend had dropped off a litter yesterday. When he heard which puppies we were calling about, he replied, "Those puppies? We're not doing anything with those." Since they ARE a kill shelter, does that mean they are going to euthanize the whole litter?! I don't understand.

For anyone who needs to give up their pet for any reason, DO NOT take them here. I don't think this place even deserves one star. The way they dispose of dead animals that they have to put down is very cruel and inhumane. After being put down, they are placed in a freezer until a garbage truck comes where they are then disposed of as nothing but a piece of trash. I mean come on! Whether they are someone's pet or not, you would think they would at least have some decency and humanity after taking care of the animals to at least bury them somewhere instead of throwing them away like garbage. The owners should be very ashamed of themselves. And if there was another animal shelter in benzie county, I could promise almost no animals would go there.

Worst experience of my life . They don't follow their own protocols . They are wild cards making up their own rules as they go and lying through their teeth. I don't know how they can sleep at night. Pathetic, hurtful and should never have jobs around animals.

Lovely employees in here that really care about the animals that come in and want them to go to good homes. Fabulously easy to adopt a new family member. Donate and rescue a pet from here!

They didn't know anything about the dog we got and wouldn't help after adopting and turns out the dog has cancer had an obvious bump on toe and leg they must not have a vet look at them.
