Nickerson / Dr Merle cared for my Toy Poodle, and now two Moyen Poodles. They have received excellent care & lead healthy lives. The office is responsive to need when a dog is ill. I have learned many things from Dr. Merle from fiber, to food choices & expressing a gland. I appreciate the approach of animal care & empowering the owners.

I would recommend this vet to anyone! The entire staff is simply amazing! They treat your fur baby as if they were their own animals. Being new to Southwest MI, they cared for my senior cat until his transition over the rainbow bridge and went above and beyond with empathy respect love and kindness during that entire process. Now they see my new cat for his check ups and I couldn’t be happier with my experience with them! 10 stars! :)

Dr. Merle and staff went the “ extra mile” to make sure our Lily was promptly seen for her eye infection. Happy to report she is responding well. Everyone from the front desk, to the technician assistant and of course Dr. Merle were so welcoming, professional and extremely efficient. Place does such a WONDERFUL JOB ❤️ and really treats your animals like royalty. They send you friendly reminders, flexible with scheduling and all of my pets (2 dogs 1 cat) have gone here. Many pets lovers that I know also say great things. When my 6 month old puppy was in a terrible accident, they bent over backwards to help with all the follow up appointments after the Pet ER. Our dog needed help with an anal gland expression and was scooting on the floor for hours at a time late at night, unable to sleep. The staff at Nickerson were so helpful and accommodating to take care of her needs. The service was very affordable, too! It's been a couple of days, and Penny is doing very well and no longer has any symptoms of discomfort. Thank you so much! We are so grateful 🙏

Nickerson did a good job with our 2 pet rats. I was nervous about finding a vet that was comfortable treating rodents and everyone from the receptionist to the doctors and assistants were respectful. Our girls are very skittish and difficult to handle. Dr Merle was confident and kind. He gave us good info about how to begin socializing our rats and tips to keep them healthy. Thank you for being patient with a situation that wasn’t the easiest to handle. Much appreciated!

I scheduled an appointment for my Dog to have rabies shot. I had to reschedule due to being disabled and in a wheelchair. I made them aware of this already but the next time I called to reschedule was told I had to pay for shots over the phone for an appointment that was 40 days away because I couldn't keep my appointment. I've been with this Vet for over 10 yrs. I have 3 pets seeing them. I never had to go through anything like this! Im moving my services elsewhere!!!

Our 2 year old mini goldendoodle suddenly started coughing, Nickerson was able to get me, diagnose kennel cough and prescribe medicine. Great friendly staff and Dr. Merle is the best.

I’m thankful for Dr. Merle! He always remembers Sugar and what she has been through. He is encouraging to me with her care! Staff is always friendly and take good care of my dog.They treated my dog like she was one of their own! She got a little spoiled when she had to stay at the hospital for the day. It made me feel very comfortable leaving her there. The Vet Techs did a great job! And Dr. Merle is awesome! He is the only vet that has called me just to see how she was doing. Now that is very personal care!

It’s never easy when your animal is sick, but Nickerson always puts my mind at ease. My nervous 14-year-old terrier is not the easiest client, but their staff is always so kind and patient with her. The exams are very thorough, and they always explain everything in great detail so I know what is going on. All three of the veterinarians give fantastic care, and you can tell that they truly do care about the animals.The office staff is great as well, doing their best to squeeze us in to cancelation spots when it’s an emergency or just being a smiling face on a tough day. Whether we’re there for a check-up or surgery, there’s no place I’d trust more with my girl.

Everything went smoothly from the beginning to the end. They offered to help me get through the doors with my puppy, took us to a room and we were immediately being helped.Dr. Merle was great, made Cooper feel very comfortable even though he was getting immunizations!He did a very thorough exam & took the time to explain some things to me that I didn't know as a novice pet parent!Overall, I would encourage you to give them a try!

Who likes going to the doctor? My dog, Baxter, gets really excited when he sees Dr Merle! He loves his veterinarian. I would be lost without Dr Merle’s advice and gentle care for both of my dogs. The Nickerson staff is wonderful and has provided excellent service for many years.
