Melissa was very accommodating and we enjoyed camping overnight at this lovely vineyard through Harvest Hosts. The vineyard is gorgeous and the tasting room is so charming. The wine is tasty and definitely recommend this little jewel tucked away down a quaint country road!

Northern Sun is a beautiful estate with some nicely made wines using native varietals. It's west of Escanaba, and out in the countryside. The first time we went, we parked our car and were greeted by this big white dog. He started barking at us, and lead us right to the front door of the tasting room. Talk about service! They have a beautiful vine gazebo to sit and overlook the vineyard in, or sit inside the building and taste away. If you're in Escanaba, take a short trip outside town and check them out.

I rarely post reviews but I must for this one! I had the best experience at this winery, perhaps the best in all of Michigan so far. The wine is amazingly flavorful, the atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, and they have the friendliest dog outside! Highly recommend for any wine lover. Even bought 3 bottles all for myself to enjoy later!

We are were traveling to Michigan and decided to stop at a vineyard along the way. We weren't sure if this winery had any food (website and other reviews didn't say). We called, but the line was busy. We decided to venture to the winery anyway (20 minutes out of the way). The owner called us back as we were driving apologizing for missing the call. She let us know that they had cheeses, chocolate, crackers, salami.We were greeted by the owner on arrival to the beautiful winery. She was very helpful with deciding on samples. She served us outside under the trellis. I wasn't sure I was going to like the wines - they only had 2 dry reds available at the moment due to harvesting. We opted for the rosé (her recommendation) for the 3rd sample. We loved the wines so much we bought all the wines we sampled (including the rosé). We had such a lovely experience - even took a walk through the vineyard.Highly recommend stopping here if you are anywhere in the vacinity

I've been a couple of times, and the owners are really nice! I had my wedding party come out here a couple weeks ago for some pictures and wine (our last stop before the reception), and the wine was delicious. I can't recommend them enough! Beautiful estate, wonderful wine, and fantastic service.

Northern Sun is a must stop for all who enjoy wine and want to experience a real working Winery in the UP. Dave and Suzie Anthony have created a Gem in Bark River. The Flagship Grape is the Marquette which was developed exclusively for the northern climates at the University of Minnesota with Northern Sun being first to plant it. This soft but medium red exhibits both the nose and taste profile of a Pinot Noir. Dave is the owner/winemaker and is passionate about his craft. The focus is on producing wines from selected varietals developed exclusively for the northern climates and it shows. The whites exhibit great acidity and are crisp and fresh. This is a Gem in North, don't miss this experience. The Marquette grape will quickly be a favorite in the region as more and more vineyards in Michigan will be planting it. Treat yourself and visit Northern Sun and experience what a UP Wine can taste like. Outstanding!!

Incredible. This is a must-visit location for you if you're in the area and love wine and absolutely wonderful, friendly hosts. We came here for a quick tasting and to grab a bottle and instead stayed for live music and bought several to take home.

So disappointed. We stop by every year in our anniversary and taste and buy more than a case of wine. Was looking forward to it again today. This is likely our last trip to the UP, so this was extra special. Saw the sign on the way out that they don’t open until 1:00. Walked around a bit, but no acknowledgement. We drove from Illinois.

Great addition to our road trip. The winery was quiet and peaceful. We got to walk through the vineyard and enjoy a few of the wines in the tasting. Highly recommend the white wines.The owners dog is also friendly!

Very cute and quaint location. Loved several wines. Got to take each glass during a tasting out and walk through the vineyard, and then come back for our next tasting glass. The tasting room is very small, so it was nice to be able to walk outside.

Our family has a place in Escanaba and it never occurred to us to look into wineries. This place was right down the road this whole time and we've been missing out!! Peggy was the gem behind the counter during our visit and we spent a few hours enjoying the great wine and beautiful vineyard view. If you're in the area or just passing through town we highly recommend!!

Wow - what a gem in the UP!! Beautiful grounds, friendly staff and really delicious wine! I highly recommend a visit to this place. Even if you are not in the area, it is well worth your time for a detour.

What a beautiful, peaceful location. The tasting room host (Mary) was bubbly and friendly and very knowledgable about the wines. I tried a couple of tastings (reasonably priced) and selected a bottle of my favorite variety. The smallish tasting room offers cheeses and other goodies. The location is easy to find using google maps. Lots of birds and a beautiful setting to enjoy a few glasses of wine! I will be back.

Absolutely delightful little winery!First and foremost, their wines were delicious, it's honestly hard to pick a favorite of the wines we tried!And on top of that, they had beautiful grounds to be able to sit and enjoy their wine and their vineyard.And if that wasn't enough, Ruth was so sweet and knowledgeable about the wines. She had such great energy that you couldn't help but get excited too!We would definitely come back if we are ever in the area!

Amazing! All wine is estate grown, no imports. What a fun find on our road trip! Stopped in, they have a huge selection for a small place. Popular red is the Marquette, popular white is the La Crescent. Bought those plus a rhubarb wine that is like a rosé. Had to enjoy the Leon, which tastes closest to a Cab, while sitting lake side at our rented cabin in the UP. What a great Michigan experience!

Such a beautiful property!!! Definitely come and check it out if your in the region. The wines were great. Staff is super friendly. They are generous with the pour. The rose was awesome! Such amazing grounds to walk on and take awesome pictures. You get to keep your wine glass when you buy a glass of wine!!! Awesome place for weddings. Their wines have won international wine competitions. I will definitely be coming back.

Beautiful setting in rolling hills, Wendy and Melissa will treat you right. Pergola and fountains make for a refreshing retreat. Delicious sweet whites and roses, and reds with full pleasant flavors. Absolutely worth the stop!

We had an excellent time here while staying in Escanaba. During this time of social distancing, my husband and I were able to enjoy delicious wine while our 2 year old ran around the beautiful grounds. The owner was very nice and incredibly accommodating. Would definitely recommend.

This place is beautiful! $5 for 3 wine tasting and you get to keep the glass! We stopped here during a road trip and loved it! Super cute and you get to do your own self-guided tour. Definitely would come back! Also wine is delicious!

What a cute Lil gem this place is... the owner is super nice and kind. After our tasting and purchase she encouraged us to go walk among the rows of grapes to sample some if we wanted to. She even came out a took a photo of us. Thank you for a great memory :)
