Normally, I would not rate any place this low. However, the main reason was the service was the issue! 1st, I must admit there was one server. She was covering six tables, and the bar area where appropriately six people sat. Once we arrived, there was one couple who sat down before us and three other couples who sat after us! Within five minutes, the server checked on the couple before us. She then checked to see what we wanted to drink. We ordered one beer and two glasses of water with fried mushrooms. Then she checked with the other tables to see what they wanted to drink / eat. The couple in front of us received their food. The two couples who came in after us received their orders. Our appetizer finally came with the beer and water. We ordered our main dish! While waiting for the main dish, the first couple paid for their meal. The couples that arrived before us were getting refills for their drinks. Our sever dropped the food off, salad, and flatbread for wife (she said it was good), hamburger for me (pretty good). A few minutes later, the server asked if everything was ok and if my wife wanted another beer! My wife said no thanks and asked for some more water. Within the next 20 - 30 minutes, the server walked by us to give the other two couples to go boxes, I again asked her for water, I sat my empty glass at the end of the table. I observed our server refilling other customers' glasses in front of us. Our server came to get checks from the couples who came in after us, and then they got up and left. The server eventually got us some water. We paid our bill, and then we left!

The pizza was good. The tables and bathroom were clean. They must have been short staffed because it took them a long time to bring out our beverages- we could hear them saying they ran out of cups.The kids grilled cheese was really bad- my son cried when I made him eat half, and I felt awful after taking a bite afterward because it was really gross.The employees were friendly. Food was priced fairly.I would order pizza from them again. They also have frozen yogurt. The yogurt itself was good, but they had toppings out like caramel that needed to be refrigerated like it says on the bottle, and were room temperature.

Since the first time I've stepped foot in the Gathering Place it has been nothing but positive. Usually only go for drinks, but the food is good as well. Love the doughballs! Bartenders... oh the bar tenders, they look like they will rip your throat out, but they are the sweetest ladies you could meet. Always good music, and great drinks. Prices aren't bad either.

I was there for my grandsons 10th birthday party, the pool area was great ot was very inexpensive to swim all day. The kids had a blast.The food was delicious.The atmosphere was very nice and very clean it was a great day.

We ordered the Hawaiian pizza with BBQ sauce instead of pizza sauce! It was delicious. Ashley was our server, she was great and kept our drinks full! Strawberry cider boys is on tap and we loved it!

Waitress took almost an hour to get out all customers' food. Not 1 hour for everything to come out at once, no 1 hour from the first plate to the last plate to come out. Not including the time we were waiting for our order to be taken. Food was not good, other than the pizza. Also their "russian dressing" is not russian dressing. It is almost a vinaigrette, which is not what anyone wants for their ruben.

We stayed at the hotel next door so this place was super convenient. We got a pizza to take back to our room. The pizza was pretty decent but could have been cooked a bit longer. Reasonable price.

While visiting a friend, I seen this place, and I wanted to stop in for lunch.First impressions...appealing but wasn't the look I was expecting for the reputation it has.Got inside and was pleasantly greeted.Kind of dark and dismal but appeared clean and up kept. I did not visit the restrooms, which I normally do when I know I will be leaving a review...AnyhooWe, chose to sit out on the patio.Charming and pleasant out there.A bit Weird to look into the connected hotel swimming area but once our waitress arrived she picked up my spirits.Friendly, upbeat, and knew her menu and specials.I am disappointed for forgetting her name... She deserves recognition.The food was great! Served promptly and wonderfully prepared. I ordered one of my favorites that I order everywhere I can.Mushroom Swiss burger! (which just so happened to be a part of the burger special of the day.)The Bun was toasted perfectly.Burger cooked to my likings.Juicy and tasty.I opted for waffle fries which were also crisp and delicious. They have homemade ranch which was a perfect pairing for a dipping sauce!My gal pal ordered a flat bread pizza which I didn't try but it looked amazing!All in all, my lunch experience was amazing! And I plan on returning in the future, on my next road trip, to check out the night life there.

If I could give it less than one star, I would. Service was garbage. We waited about 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge that we had sat down. The waitress took our drink order and we didn’t see her again for another 30 minutes. She took our food order when she came back and it took an hour to get our food. Wasn’t checked on in between that. Sat with empty cups for a while. Absolute garbage service and the food wasn’t worth the wait for that long. I will never come back.

We stopped here for dinner since it was past 8pm and there were very few options for dinner after 8pm in the Thumb area.The atmosphere is super cool with old school stadium chairs at the entrance and different styles of license plates on the wall. Free indoor shuffle board to occupy your time. A self serve frozen yogurt bar with fresh fruits/candy/nuts/drizzles. They even had tropical flavored gummy bears which as my favorite. Service was great and our waitress was training a new girl and juggling everything very well. TVs well positioned for easy viewing.I got a margarita, chili, and French onion soup. While the French onion soup was good, the onion flavor tasted a little burnt. The chili was AMAZING! I could eat that everyday. Margarita was solid as well.My husband’s quesadilla was just eh…lots of tortilla and not as much filling as one would hope but still good tasting. My kid and his friend got the Sunday pizza special and they enjoyed it very much! Our waitress also made sure to let us know that the pepperoni was under the cheese so we didn’t get confused.They also have two pinball machines in the “game room”…that could use a little more to complete the vibe. Maybe some cards or tic tac toe , etc. Calling two pinball machines a game room is overselling it. But overall a great little place to stop and have a bite!

I've been here a handful of times. Last time, Rachel was our server. Whenever she is, the service is always good. (To be fair, the others are pretty good, too.)There has only been one instance where the food wasn't what was ordered. The kitchen messed up 3 times, and after the 2nd time, my mom just kept it. The server did take it off of the bill, though.I've only ever had bad service once. My friend and I were there for a couple of hours. It started out good, we had a few drinks. (Maybe like 3 drinks in 2 hours). After that, nobody came to see if we wanted or needed anything. We gave it like a half hour and we didn't even get a bill. We guessed, left money on the table, and left. Another table with a bunch of guys had someone constantly checking on them. My friend picked 2 rock songs on the jukebox, and someone came out and unplugged it halfway through the first. So she didn't get to hear her songs or get her money back. Instead, we were stuck listening to rap and country switch every other song.

The blandest nachos I’ve ever had. I ordered with nachos with chicken but there was no seasoning on the chicken. The iced tea tasted odd, too, there was a strange flavor to it and hint of sweetness to it, as if they added cola to watered down iced tea to give it some color. The waitress was excellent tho.

We had a surprise birthday party in their banquet room. I was elated to see the nice details taken including tablecloths on the tables. The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. I would recommend for a party or just night out for fun.

We stayed in the hotel and ate here twice during our stay and both times were really really good. The pizza was surprisingly good and the boneless wings were perfect. My wife who's a tough critic loved the slim j and the burger. Definitely recommend eating here. I'll be back next year.

Good, solid place to eat in the northern-ish Michigan town of Bad Axe.I've been here several times and the food is always good and you always get service with a smile. Our server, Alexis, was on the ball and attentive to our needs.It's a casual atmosphere with affordable, informal food.
