This store has a lot of products and being so far from Walmart or other Dollar Generals makes it a very good choice when looking for quick groceries and other household items...and don't forget the toys for your kids.

Went there today, only employee I saw was rude and had an attitude the entire time. My wife asked to use the bathroom, lady got had an attitude when telling her the bathroom was unlocked. Normally the bathrooms are always locked and you have to get the key from the employee. Was checking out and did cash back for $30. She got an attitude about and started shaming me for not asking about cash back before I did it saying that I should’ve asked before because it was early in the morning and that they only have 150 dollars in the cash register when they open. When asked why there was no signs about cash back, she got more of attitude and started claiming that they’re not allowed to put signs up about it. Normally never have a problem here but today the lady working was just flat out rude.

Recently moved to Athens back at the end of May, we always run there for missing ingredients or just a quick grocery trip, prices are great etc... Service on the other hand, most if not all employees are VERY rude and half of them are gross. You walk in the store is cluttered and messy and all the workers are lazy and don’t care the stores condition. Their organization is terrible, but overall it needs a whole new staff and management. Very disappointing. Also not to mention, every single time we do go there busy or not the checkout takes forever. It is either they are too busy talking to each other or not knowing how to use their equipment it gets very frustrating

The selection is good and the prices are as well. Nearly all staff are Pleasant but lately there have been a couple that seemed like they would rather be any place else other then in Dollar General. If it continues I'll stop going there. If not I'll be happy to return again and again.

Store is messy, many items still on carts not being stocked. Not sure if she was the manager or an employee but she was very very rude. Do not shop here. This location is not worth your business.

I like this small town dollar general store. Usually a quick in and out stop. They carry most of the basics and frequently have special deals on clothes and pet products. I've never seen the store crowded and there is always plenty of parking. This is the first place I was able to use PayPal at the register to pay for my purchase without a card.

I don't go there very often because of the condition of this fairly new store. It started out great, was clean and well stocked. Now it is disgusting inside and out. It is cluttered, dirty, and out of several items. Not very good management as people can see. The outside has garbage everywhere and is embarrassing to our small town. Corporate/Management please read this review and help this store out!

The staff is always friendly. However, there is so much stuff in this store that it is overwhelming. It is hard to find what you need and most items are poorly organized. It looks and feels messy. I do feel the food area is organized.

This dollar general is a pleasant place to pick up a thing or two before heading home..the staff is always friendly, helpful if i have a question, its usually clean and looks well stocked. i shop their enough to know some of the staff by name. Its convenient for me and i like shopping there

Very messy and hard to get around aisles because of so much stuff in the way, there short staffed and seem to have a high turnover rate. There's one employee that never wears ppe and has been seen sneezing without properly covering there mouth, and doesn't keep her distance from customers.

This store is straight dirty!!! I went there tonight and when I left I realized my entire parking spot was literally covered in glass. And you can tell by the insane amount of cigarette buttes out there that noone cleans it. But glass... Really??!!?? If I end up with a flat tire, you owe me a new 1!!!

One of the worst stores I've been into. Its dirty, always out or stuff. Employees are very slow and un unwelcoming. I always end up standing in like about 10 people deep with one cashier. While the other ones are talking or one their phones.

Good store, good prices, just a few issues with things being broken; or not existing such as a speaker system for employees. Overall, if you're in Athens and don't want to drive to Battle Creek come here!

Some of the people that work there are nice , but today July 17th is a whole nother ball game, the girl that was working today was extremely rude to my 9 year old daughter and wife, she needs to be fired!What happened to actually working for your money? She was crying and whining because the cans which were bought from there wasn't separated! Aw , poor baby , at least they were cleaned out! Dollar General in Athens Michigan need to get ' good' people in there .People that actually treat the customers with respect.

There are some people who dont really wear masks but the parking is decent (sometimes) and they have really good employees

Its dollar general.. you've got 2 things that can happen, either their busy and have to wait in line forever... or their slow and have to wait for cashier that is off stocking shelves... not the employees fault.. corporate needs to hire more and not have employees do 3 jobs.
