The staff is wonderful there. My grandsons love to go there on the weekends to play with the kittens, they really enjoy going there. The staff is so patient with them. Excellent place to visit. You can take your pop bottles to donate they really appreciate them.

What a nightmare. Seen two dogs online. Applied for them both. Got approval but the dogs I requested was adopted and there was only one dog out of six left as an option. Unfortunately the dog i wanted was later posted the next day online again. I went to call and went to the shelter but apparently they were closed due to weather. That only means those animals were left without care. I was at the shelter myself and there was nobody there. I even called several times. Reached out via email and messenger only to be corrected. Telling me I was never approved. And the dog was readopted. And the employees couldn't make it to work on time etc. Excuses. No resolution. Just a "oh well that sucks" doesn't matter IfI qualified or if I was a good person or if I had money. This society is a scam. Whatever game they are playing ain't right. I missed two opportunities to adopt a dog. Poor animals are neglected. Cages are full of poop because the workers are too busy play8ng around in the office instead of going over my application

If only I could a zero star to this disgraceful place. They are nothing but a corrupted place that will do anything for a penny. Including adopting out other animals that have a home and will do nothing to return it to owner they belong too. I’ve heard multiple people be turned away from them for having “no room” but you look at their website and see a handful of cats. This place is a disgusting disgrace to our community. Support other local shelters that actually care for their animals they intake.

They will do anything to make any money, which includes adopting out cats that HAVE a home and when the RIGHTFUL owner comes forward to get THEIR cat back they do nothing to resolve the situation because it was easy money for them. I will not ever support this disgusting place and will continue to steer people clear of this horrible place. This place is a joke!

We can't say enough good things about this facility. The place is immaculate and not smelly at all. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and, most importantly, they REALLY care about the animals! The full face pic is our little Jack who we adopted in December 2019 and the guy riding the caregiver's shoulders is our Ebenezer aka Bennie who we adopted a year ago. In both cases we noticed that all the animals were clean and well fed, obviously well-cared for. Both were orphans from a nursing mother and had to be HAND fed every 2 hours around the clock. Today they are healthy, active, and happy and, indeed, a testament to the quality treatment they received at Huron Humane Society. Thank you all for the joy they bring to our lives! Your caring matters.

I donate to them (and of course visit the great cats) at their facility every few months on my trips up north. They’re very appreciative, and they have made a lot of changes in this place over the past few years - all for the betterment of animals. It’s been a couple of decades since my family have adopted from them, but during my visits, I can tell (also as a veterinary professional) that the pets are well cared for, the facility is clean, and the animals are socialized well. Thanks for taking all of the prescription food and supplies I dump on you! I couldn’t think of a better place for it to go to use.

Very great, caring, professional staff. My mom passed 1 1/2 years ago. Her little shitzu was becoming a little shitzu for my dad, whose health is not getting any better. They gladly took in little Bentley, kept great care of him, and found him a new owner in less than a week! Awesome! Thank you all! Donate to your local Humane Society, they are non-profit, and need our help, drop off cash, drop off your pops/cans for a bottle drive, or ask them what they need!

This place needs an employee overhaul IMMEDIATELY! They literally tell you that if you have animals in need of a home to just let them outside, that “they will fend for themselves” shame on you as human beings and a humane society. You should all be slapped in the face and fired 100%

We called for a kitten visit as we are seeing how our young son will do with a small kitten. The staff was so amazing and welcoming. They let us play with FOUR adorable kittens!!!! While it was incredibly difficult to leave without the kittens, we were able to see how our son was going to respond. Kind staff, welcoming environment, and KITTENS!!!!!!

Donated some unopened dog food to them. Had a few pouches as samples to have my dogs try. Their systems couldn't tolerate it, too rich I guess.

Cindy was nice but the other workers have no clue about there Jobs. Put a hold on a cat and they ended up setting up an appointment with someone else to come visit it, so we had to wait 4 days for a decision to be made who they would appoint the cat too. I would have gone elsewhere but the cat wasn't for me.

My husband and I went in to check it out, see what they had. The amazing person jumped right up to help us. We spent 2 hours there, checking out the pups, she was very knowledgeable, held nothing back very informative. The staff was very fun loving with one another they truly care about there animals. Even though she knew we were not interested in the cats she appeased my daughter's love for them and showed us them all. Friendliest cutest dang cats I've ever seen. Please these people are truly compassionate and are working very hard. People have bad days that does not warrent a low star rating. What it does do is make people think twice before going in to adopt. Be kind. We will be back another day and may have an addition to our family!

They are super friendly and take great care of the pets. It is a little smelly and not super clean. But I get it they are busy and probably need more help.

I have adopted numerous cats an dogs from various animal shelters and humane societies. Yesterday I adopted 2, 2 month old kittens and it was a wonderful experience. I and the kittens were treated kindly and with respect. Very helpful staff. Thank you to them.

I fostered 3 kittens from a few days old for the humane society. I bottle fed them every 2 hours and had a momma cat that adopted them as her own. I never asked them to pay for anything, I paid for milk replacement, soft food, crunchy food as they got older, and kitty litter. I was happy to do it to help out. After being with me for 12 weeks I decided to adopt them into my family. The shelter told me that I could pay a $100 adoption fee and then their spay and neuter was free as a thank you. Life got crazy and I didn’t make it in until just recently to pay and now they said it would be $200 or I have to bring them back! These kittens have been in my home since they were 3 days old, have not costed them anything, and nobody was concerned about them until I went in 6 months after I have had them. This came from Cindy who sits on the board. I guess I will have to pay another $100 to keep them from going to the shelter.

Staff was so patient and helpful when I got my pet..answering about an hours worth of questions while I made sure I was making the right selection. I love this place and that the animals were clearly all so loved, clean, and cared for. They are well taken care of and it shows.

When we decided to get a new dog we knew we wanted to give a rescue dog a home and not just get a puppy. We found a very timid 5 year old dog here that had been rescued from a puppy mill. Almost a year later she is the most loving, energetic pet you could ask for! So glad to have her as part of our family!!

Very poor service. Have attempted to turn in animals in need numerous times only to be turned away to animal control. Got hung up on more than once; very unprofessional staff. What’s the purpose of a humane society if you cannot take in animals that have no place else to go? Very unhappy with the way they treat animals that are suffering outside, obviously there’s no compassion that a humane society SHOULD have.

Very rude, very unprofessional staff at front desk. Brought a very ill stray cat in and was told to take it to animal control. NOTHING humane about their attitude, not one person cared or even looked at the sick animal. If you want to help animals, look elsewhere. This place needs to be shut down.

Highly unprofessional organization. They support backyard breeders by auctioning off a golden x poodle MUTT that a backyard breeder donated to them. The breeder admitted to doing ZERO health testing on her mutts also. Instead of emptying the shelter, they are encouraging mutt breeders to keep breeding their disaster dogs to make a profit. When you question what they are doing on the Fb post they also delete your comments and mute you. Avoid at all costs and take your money to a place that will actually try and clear the shelters and NOT support mutt profit breeders

The shelter is very clean and they're very concerned about their adopties and the health of the animals they take in I go there at least once a month just to see the kind of animals that they have available even though I can't adopt any it's still a very pleasant experience I think you will find these people are top notch for a shelter

Funny how all of these positive reviews just started to pop up within the last 4 days. Only after this facitily and its board members are under the watchful eye of the public for major wrong, illegal, and unethical behaviors. They don't even follow their own Bylaws!!! Do not trust them!
