Just not the same as the old Higgins. Used to feel like you were getting a lot of ice cream for the money. Now it just feels like any other ice cream place. Also, this is Michigan, home of the National Cherry festival, and there wasn't a single cherry ice cream in the line up. Come on, man!

Neat store with attached icecream stand. Not many flavors to choose, but enough to satisfy. Offers a handful of toppings. There is no "mixer" machine here, so only scoops, malts, shakes are available. Decently priced. There is outdoor seating and picnic in alley next to building.

Went into the store and noticed that they don’t take credit cards which let us be notified by a sign which was fine, It’s a small business it’s expected and that wasn’t the problem. As me, my fiancé and my best friend were staring at the sign the young man in the back said, “you guys going to get ice cream or not.” This Just surprise me because the way he said this was in a rude manner. But we were really wanting ice cream so we came back with some money and my friend ordered first and he was the last one to get his cone. When the young man made the ice cream cone he made another comment. This ice cream cone was for my fiancé. I tried to grab it for her because her hands were full but he would not let me grab it. I mean I went to go grab the cone and he pulled the cone away from my hand, And then right after said I hope you’re not making the girl pay! I mean really! I can see if the tone was in the joking fashion but this young man had been rude the entire time we were ordering. And this is coming from someone that runs a business.

GEY ICE CREAM ELSEWHERE! BESIDES being a hundred degrees in the ice cream shop. The owner was belittleing her employees in front of us, then looked at us started mumbling and walked off. There was 15 of us. She kept saying you need to break it in groups! We're like we are mamam there a lot of us.. she got frustrated and left. We decided to just leave and go 4 doors down to boomer's ice cream! AMazing people plus there were chairs for us all to sit!

While Higgins does sell alcohol, the best unkept secret in all of Alden is the ice cream shoppe tucked in the back corner; the price is not for the faint-hearted, but your rich reward will exceed all your expectations!

Best known for ice cream. Serves large portion sizes so go hungry. Also store has a bit of everything. Good liquor seletions and has some craft beers
