Such an inexpensive way to kill some time on a beautiful day. Our go to for burning some energy. Lots of trails for hiking, walks etc. In the summer they have fish food in candy quarter dispensers to feed the fish. There are giant fish in there!

Nice place to stop and take a walk. Dogs are allowed so that was a bonus. You can feed the fish at the ponds. The ponds are filled with large trout and ducks. The water is clear so you can see everything! I probably spent a good 45 min with my dog walking around the trails, reading the educational signs, and feeding the fish. I would highly recommend it for kids of all ages.

Located in Oden this hatchery y has some amazing sights. They have a small museum in an old train car. They have a ton of gorgeous nature trails. The have and underground viewing area to view young fish in a stream. Plus two ponds with full size fish. Plus they have a fish food machine to buy feed. Toss is the pellets and watch the fish and ducks go berserk. It is both hilarious and amazing. I could easily spend an hour or 2 here.Overall to me a 5 star experience. Would I return? In a heartbeat!

The visitor center, trails and especially the tour at the Michigan DNR Oden Fish Hatchery are absolutely great with information about the trout that they raise and plant in Michigan. The visitor center has a nice little gift shop and information. The train car is a well preserved interactive historic display of the historic was trout were delivered by rail. The below stream level stream viewing area always has trout visible in their natural environment. The big trout pond with the biggest trout who no longer can produce brood stock is fun.(bring quarters to get fish food to throw to these largest of trout. The paved walk on the grounds is about a mile for the whole loop but about a tenth mile to the to the viewing area and another tenth to the pond. We drove by car the five minute ride to the tour at the rearing buildings. The staff and tour guides are friendly knowledgeable and willing to share so much information about this location’s nearly 100 years of raising trout as well as fishing biology and DNR activities. The tour was so informative with our group who is interested in the scientific details of the fish rearing. Our Guide (Larry) was so friendly shared details on the operations and answered all our questions. We are trout fisherman and could relate to all they do. They had multiple kids on a school trip who see it as an educational experience.

I have visited many times and it is always so much fun to go on the tour. Getting to feed the trout is tons fun for kids as well. Al you need to do is to bring a small bucket of dog food for feeding the fish at the trout ponds.

Absolutely a great day with the tour guide on 9-15. I learned so much from him. This is 5 star operation. I never realized as a chef, how much you could learn about fish, and what the State does for us. So well organized, a " must see".

My husband and I went there today. We arrived 10 minutes before the 2:00 tour. We were the only ones for the tour and what an experience. It was interesting to learn about the process at the hatchery and to walk around the trails and to feed the fish in the big ponds. Would definitely recommend this place for families or couples who want to experience something they normally wouldn't do.

Stopped here on a whim while driving by, made it just in time for the 3:00 tour. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. The gift shop was very reasonably priced. The viewing chamber and fish feeding stops are a short walk and excellent for small kids.
