Awesome coffee shop where you can hang out with a good book or notebook or sketchbook or friends (or all of the above). Inside and outside seating, incredible selection of pastries, cakes, pie, muffins. Flexible options for decaf drinkers (not always the way at other places!) Friendly staff, clean bathrooms, artwork on the wall, great ambience. Five stars.

Cool coffee shop, very good coffee and pastries. Less than ideal wifi situation, they offer a free hour via Time Warner. If you have a Time Warner account, you can have more than a free hour, otherwise is becomes $2.95 an hour after the first hour.

Tried both their dark and light roasts. Both were very good. Also indulged in one of their personal sized cakes - raspberry lemon cake - sooo good!

Cool location on the main road in town. Lots of out door covid safe seating. My cold brew was tasty. I purchased some beans which had a great floral flavor which had been roasted a week prior to purchase. It’s great to go to a coffee shop that has fresh roasted coffee. Check them out.

Busy coffee shop. Variety of baked goods. Arrived close to closing time. Staff were sweet and generous. Told us they would be closing in a few minutes and suggested to us that we could go across the street to the coffee shop in the new William's College bookshop (which is a Tunnel Cafe too.). The bookshop cafe is very modern, chock full of books, and open until 9 p.m.

Had a simple latte. It was excellent. Egg bagel was pretty good (skip the raspberry doughnut...not so much). Long line and I can see why based on how good the coffee is.Vegetarian options: Veggie egg bagel was not what I expected but I really liked it

Tunnel City is essential to Williamstown. An impressive array of baked goods, coffees, and teas served and prepared by a friendly and knowledgeable staff who are all blessed admirable senses of humor.I am glad that the owner, an affable man, upholds a policy of “no bare feet” as is common in most restaurants. The idiotic review on here by a barefoot man who felt hurt that he was asked to leave is exactly the sort of thing one would expect to find on the social media, especially in an age of fragility and the will to be a victim.I always enter coffee shops and, actually, everywhere with shoes as is my practice. And I am glad of establishments such as this one that still uphold vestiges of civilization.

Not just great coffee....As evidenced by my pic below, I sampled their Raspberry Corn muffin. Practically perfect in every way.

Best coffee ever ! I will add thirty minutes to my commute when I’m traveling just to get some. The flat whites are just the best. Quality of the bean will spoil you for other coffee shops. If you are a coffee aficionado you must try this spot!

Very hurtful experience. I visited the store without shoes as is my practice. The wife asked me about the health code, and I showed her a letter from Massachusetts state indicating there are no laws against barefoot. Then the owner came over and was incredibly hurtful and angry, ordering me to leave and not willing to listen to anything. As if I was a homeless person. What an angry man - something I would only have imagined on social media

Good and varied menu. Quick service. Excellent coffee. Good prices. We enjoyed the Williamstown Fourth of July parade from the seats inside the shop. Plenty of seating available both inside and outside (under shaded sidewalk roof).Breakfast egg sandwich was very good.

A few earlier reviews commented on the lack of a dedicated wifi, but I found the Williams College WiFi signal more than adequate at 120Mbs upload and download. Had a very good ice coffee and got my morning work done.

If I was on death row, I'd request a lemon bar from here as my last meal. It's that good. Good is not the right word. It was the best thing I've ever eaten. I'm smiling just thinking about it....

The BEST coffee shop I've ever been to! My fiancé and I are coffee lovers and we like to go around trying different places. Once we found this place we haven't been anywhere else! We live in NY about 30 minutes away but boy do I wish we lived closer! We drive here every weekend just to get a coffee. I always get an iced mocha and it never disappoints. Their baked goods are also heavenly! One of the best carrot cakes we've ever had! Also had a quiche, delicious! Perfectly cooked with broiled cheese on top to top it off. Thei everything bagel is the perfect amount of everything seasoning and even has oats which I find to be a nice touch. I would highly recommend this place! 🙂

This is not my first review of Tunnel City, a nice coffee house which serves uniformly excellent espresso.I first came here probably in 2005. I don't come often because I live in the Boston area, but I often come when I'm driving between my house and that of a close friend outside of Albany, NY (I take the backroads because they only take about an hour longer, and it actually feels much shorter because the scenery is so much more interesting and the driving so much more fun).Tunnel City has the most reliably good espresso of any establishment I've frequented. Their espresso has always put a big smile on my face, and kept it there while I nursed the latte for at least an hour. (Today I made the latte last all the way home, a distance of 125 miles, despite the numerous times I stopped to take photos in the Pioneer Valley, as well as once for a walk with my dog.) I can't think of another coffee house that has been so consistently excellent. They also can make the lattes with oat milk. That's good because oat milk allows me to keep drinking the espresso despite reflux, unlike regular milk.Additionally, the people who work there have been uniformly nice and welcoming. Today, they even gave my dog some water. If I lived in or near Williamstown, I'm sure I'd hang out there regularly.

1. Espresso was bad. They are either overextracting the espresso or using extremely dark beans. I did not try their drip coffee so I cannot comment on that.2. Only paper and plastic cups!!! Yuck! What kind of coffee shop does not have porcelain mugs? Please use porcelain mugs and steel silverware for dine-in customers and reduce the usage of single use plastic!I would not go there again for coffee.

I was planning on getting a coffee, but was flummoxed to find there were no prices listed on the menu. After asking and being told it was $3.50 for a small drip, I decided it wasn’t worth it. Maybe if there was more info on what the coffee was (organic? Fair trade?), or had been prepared knowing the price already. But local friends said the coffee here wasn’t great (bitter and burnt according to them), so I passed. Feels very exclusionary to hide pricing, especially for those who are not well off.

Service was nice, carrot cake pretty good. Both coffee and espresso tasted rather burned, the whoopie pie is not recommended. Unfortunately, the place offers only disposable cups und cutlery for non take-away, no sustainable option available.

I think he said his name was Erving? Anyway he made the most delightful latte. I don’t normally leave reviews except when the service is either extremely excellent or terrible. And it was definitely an excellent day after my latte! Will say that the egg sandwhiches need some work. Even if you’re going to reheat everything then keep the ingredients separate. It was like they stuffed all the ingredients into a muffin tin and then baked it to be reheated later. While it wasn’t even wide enough to cover an English muffin it was thick enough to where I could barely bite it. Definitely will not order one of those again.

Excellent atmosphere, free wifi, tables both in and out. Stay as long as you like. Other than the constant state of construction surrounding this place due to expansion and renovation work at Williams College, this is a wonderful spot. Clean and orderly with excellent service. A nice place to while away an afternoon or to grab a quick cup of your favorite beverage and a decadent treat.

Not kidding about the good Espresso. Tried a few of their pastries over the last few visits, too: Biscotti, scones, and muffins, -and they were all excellent, even if their proportions make them more a meal than a pick-me-up. Worth a stop for sure; a nice interlude to a relaxing ramble through town.
