Went for dinner on a very busy Saturday night. At first I was thinking the prices were high. But each meal came with an appetizer and a dessert. The food was good and plentiful, took home enough for lunch. The service was very good, impressive hard working staff. This was very close to getting 5 stars, but we got seated near the kitchen and kept hearing banging maybe from the dish washer. The room was full and very loud chatter too. The bathroom was clean. I don't get up that way often, but I would go back again.Food & drinks: As far as I know this is just a restaurant. I did not stay overnight. It is a very old large historic building. Nice porches.

The phrase “Eat Greatly at the Whately” is so true. I have been coming here for over 40 years and I can honestly say it is my favorite restaurant in the Pioneer Valley. The food is superior, the staff is phenomenal and the Kloc Family has kept the feeling of elegance and home for decades.Food & drinks: The food is phenomenal, four course meal a the appetizer a salad your main course with a choice of potatoe if you don’t get the au graten you are robbing yourself and the desserts delicious. They have speciality drinks and those we all know and they are reasonably priced.

Went there last night for a dinner and a surprise birthday for my sister..she doesn't like to be Fussed over..the hostess,and especially waitress were incredible. They took the gifts and flowers and cake to a hidden location. Brought the cake with candles on it..sang Happy birthday..then cut and served the cake with ice cream..just wonderful.The food was just perfect..sword fish so good..haddock so good...prime rib excellent as evidenced by my husband eating it all..soup and salad all nice portions and very good..thank you for the good food and just a great experience..birthday girl was surprised and had a great time..would come back often..thank you again..kate e will

Arrived for Easter dinner with 3 other guests. Food big disappointment. Chicken Capone was dry and rubbery. Chicken Parm was the same pasta and sauce were good though. Butternut Ravioli was Blaine and dry tasteless. Final dinner was Duck ordered well done came out med very chewy and lack of flavor.Been here several times meals were always great. Something changed. Very disappointing and highly overpriced for quality.Last trip to Whatley Inn.

Stopped in for birthday dinner, it was quiet due to the snow. Liam was attentive and the veal was cooked correctly and was tender. They even brought out a candle in my dessert to acknowledge my birthday, which was a small welcome gesture that I feel many restaurants would neglect. Will come back in the future

As always, we ate Greatly at the Whateley. It is our favorite restaurant. The food and service are second to none. Everything, rolls, aperitif, appetizer, salad or soup, entree, dessert, coffee or tea or other beverage, are included in the price of the meal.Food & drinks: Absolutely delicious!

Recently had the blackened sword fish with a cup of lobster bisque and a double order of scalloped potatoes. The meal was delicious and the lemon lush dessert to finish the meal was a great way to finish. Came in recently and had another phenomenal meal . Had the filet mignon with pan blackened scallops appetizer put together for dinner for the best surf and turf . Also had the butternut squash and a double order of the scalloped potatoes , and also had the lobster bisque and the homemade bread rolls and salad that comes with the meal.everything was fantastic and delicious . Thank you chip for the best meal and Lisa for the great service.

I took my dad here for his birthday a few weeks ago. The food is delicious and the service was absolutely amazing. She was so friendly and very attentive, as soon as we finished one course out came the other! I was very impressed. For how much food you are getting and how delicious it is, the price is totally worth it. Will certainly be making it a tradition to bring my old man here every year for his birthday!

We had a wonderful dinner sitting out on the porch with Melissa as our server. She is a fantastic server as I am in the business myself. She was very attentive and pleasant. We all enjoyed our drinks and dinners. Piping hot, just the way I like my food!! We all enjoyed our pleasant fall afternoon with the beautiful colorful mountain views. Keep doing what you do best!!

On 8/6/23, I brought my parents to the Whately Inn for dinner to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary. More recently, it seems that an extraordinary dining experience is an exception, rather than the norm. For this reason, as well as the fact that it was such a milestone celebration, I emailed the owner(Stephen) beforehand and shared that I was considering bringing my parents to his establishment for a special dinner and wanted reassurance that we would not be disappointed. He acknowledged my initial email and evidenced a certainty that left me feeling confident enough about moving forward and making a reservation(He even noted a server he recommended). In his return email to me, he had asked me a couple of questions, which I responded to in a return email, followed by one more email after I secured a reservation, but I never heard back from him thereafter. I telephoned the restaurant on 7/30/23 to make the reservation. I explained to Krista(I believe that was her name) that I had exchanged emails with the owner and that the reservation was for a very special occasion, being it was my parents' Anniversary. Our initial call was disconnected and when we re-connected(I called back), I made a point of telling her a couple more times that the reservation is for a special celebration and we would be coming for my parents' 60th Anniversary. She acknowledged this. When we arrived on 8/6, it was not very busy(reservation was for 4:30), we were promptly seated and our waiter Liam was timely greeting us and taking our drink order. From there, the customer service left a lot to be desired. We learned that Liam was the bartender that day, which was consuming his time, and likely the reason for our lackluster service. Never having personally been to the restaurant, it would have been helpful to receive a little tour of the menu, which we did not. We needed a napkin that I had to take from another table--we needed silverware replaced that had been taken away and I also had to take from another table. Our bread plates were taken and we had nowhere to put the family style veggie. I had to wait for a water refill, which is a biggie for me, but Liam did redeem himself there when he brought a pitcher of water(which I requested). After we received our meal, there was never a check back to see how the food was. Then, after we finished our meal, we sat with our dirty dishes for at least 20-25 minutes before a different server came and told us he was sent by Liam to take our dessert order. We then commented how that should have occurred a while ago. Things happen and we understand. Given it was necessary for Liam to tend to the bar that day, you'd have thought a different server would have been provided to us. We would have been more than happy to have someone who was going to be attentive. The dirty dishes still remained on the table until the dessert was brought and we had to point out that we would like them removed. To top it all off, there was never ever any mention of "Happy Anniversary" to my parents. Nothing!! Interestingly enough, when it came time to pay the bill though, Liam resurfaced quite promptly and started talking to my parents as though they were his regular customers, which they were not, and in fact they have only been to the restaurant one time, years ago. As for the food, it was good!! Sadly, the service is part of the whole experience and the fact that it fell short, overshadows everything. Very disappointing, especially having done my due diligence ahead of time, researching the restaurant(I read reviews) and having contacted the owner in an effort to avoid the very reason I am writing this review. I'd have thought he would have communicated something to his employees, particularly the fact that it was an anniversary dinner. Just like a thank you goes a long way, acknowledging a very special day, would have meant a lot to me. I really expected more.

What a great meal! My husband and I came for our anniversary. As mentioned by others, the price and portions can't be beat. Beautiful place, with a very traditional New England food. The dinners are basically a five course meal. You ought to go hungry! All the food was superb. And came out hot, which I find can be challenging with so many parts to the meal. I had the lamb, and my husband had a pork tenderloin special. He took enough home with him for two more meals. Our server was super nice and energetic. You could tell that she was really, really busy, but always came to us with a smile on her face and took her time with us.

Went with a couple of friends for a nice dinner out. I'd never been even though I used to live in the neighborhood. We had a fantastic meal. Our server said he was new but he still did an excellent job and was good on timing each course. I had scallops and mushrooms. The shared vegetables and garlic rolls were also very nice. Would come back again. Wonderful experience!
