I have been here a couple of times now, and it's a great place to go for hike. Some trails are not well marked, but there are lots of scenic views. It's a very big place, so there's several places to go hiking.

Unfortunately there is no guidebook to this place :( B. Great place for some nice sport climbing! Bolts are awesome and safe. One downside in the summer is too many flies that bite :( when it gets colder will be amazing!

It's a very free-flowing very clean. Love it . I don't know how to explain it's wonderful it's like a scene out of Twilight. If I could built a cottage interrupt the environment I would definitely consider it. It's a beautiful place to go to. I would rate it a 20 if the scale went that far. I love nature and love water and this is my true destination in and my life

I drive through twice a week. Beaver dams occasionally cause flooding of roads during wet months like July 2023.Wickets Pond is a lovely place to kayak, or there's a loop trail, but this is July 2023 so parts of it may be underwater.Dog-friendliness: As long as your dog is on-lead it should be fine.Scoop your poops, and remember, even a young moose can break bones on a German Shepherd when startled. And if your dog is off-lead, Wendell coyotes eat small dogs. Just because your Jack Russell Terrier THINKS he's Tom Cruise is no protection.

Just found this great state park cruising around w the dogs looking for a new place and love it. They have a great combo of trails and roads very extensive because place is big. Plus they allow snowmobiling and have two small ponds for kayaking/swimming. Bring the bug juice as with any forest there are bugs. But good to see our tax dollars go to something this nice. But I'd like to know where the money from logging the forest goes to, especially with lumber so high and the state just can't have a resident firewood policy like CT.

Very quiet & Relaxing place. We stayed about 5 hours cooked some food on the grill.I gave it FOUR STARS, but then dropped it to a three because there is no way I would eve go swimming in that pond. Not sure about fishing it or putting a boat in there. Can anybody tell me if the gates close automatically on a timer???We thought it closed @ 5:00pm.By the time we started to leave it was 5:04 we then pulled over at the top to check everything.,Whe we drove by the gate upon leaving "THE GATE WAS CLOSED"And there was nobody around to close it.The car clock said 5:09.So I'll ask again.IS THE GATE ON A TIMER??

A nice little hidden gem in Northern MA. There is a beautiful Scenic Vista that is high enough up that you get a georgeous view, but not so high that it seems like you're going to be exhausted. Very nice wildlife, almost no litter. One thing though, is that sometimes the trail flairs aren't always the clearest-- so go during the day!

I hiked through on the New England Trail (former M&M trail) and the park was beautiful! The porta potty was very clean and appreciated, and I slept great in the shelter, listening to the babbling brook in front of the shelter. I'll definitely come back again!

A beautiful area for hikers and rock climbers alike. The trails are well marked and offer some wonderful views, and there is some of the best outdoor climbing I've seen on this side of Massachusetts. A true gem for group or solo hikes.

This state forest has got everything- bears, cool abandoned roads, beautiful camping area with a lean-to, and classic new England mountain biking (rocky, rooty and rugged). Enough trails and roads to spend years getting acquainted, and most of them barely trafficked. Connects to the M&M and New England trails.

Looks nice, the little swimming pond is not maintained at all. It will be gone soon. Too bad. May explain thr wonderful lack of people.

Went hunting today where my grandfather, father and I hunted for years. On the hill where Carlton Rd meets Dirth Rd.. I could not hunt on that hill. Most of the trees were cut down. Please do not destroy any more hunting grounds there. 😪

A hidden gem! Miles and miles of gorgeous trails and dirt roads for running, biking and more. Check out the views from the M&M trail above Jerusalem Rd as well as Wickett and Ruggles ponds!

Great place to be and wicked peaceful. Great for hiking, terrible for driving! Seriously do not traverse these roads unless you have the ground clearance!

Wendell state forest is a hidden gem. The forest is huge and mostly intact from more than 50 years of no logging. Yes, DCR did log a big chunk of woods there. It should serve as an example of Boston centric natural resource Mgt. We should learn from seeing the slow recovery, perhaps absent species that once flourished in these cuts. By examining the untouched portions we can learn from the mistakes and gain insights from the intact forests. Ruggles pond is quiet most days, uncrowded and swimmable for kids of all ages. There's camping on the New England trail in big lean to's. Every day I see wildlife.... fish, reptiles, birds, deer, moose, bears...up close and personal.

A fabulous family friendly park easily accessible by car. It's also a great rest spot for hikers along the 114-mile M-M Trail.

Visited on the 4th of July weekend and the forest was essentially empty. Some great trails, but also some built for bikes that are in desperate need of maintenance.

Just a short hike thru the woods and back on a road today. Felt supported by the earth and trees, the breeze and sky. Thank you to the CCC for creating this beautiful space.

Nice state park, with some good hiking trails that are spread out over some 65 acres, if I'm not mistaken. I also think that there are a couple of different park entrances as well.

While i enjoy forests in general i cant report on amenities and facility infrastructure as i tend to shy away from all that and just be in the forest. ..get outdoors visit all the parks and understand that you are the keeper of the forest . 😃👍

I love the Ruggles pond bench. Such a serene spot to get away from everything. Be careful of acorns falling if you parked up top at the ranger station.

Great state park that offers trails, camp sites, and water access. There are two very popular rock climbs in and near Wendell.
