We found ourselves looking for food in Wellfleet around 9PM on the night after Independence Day. Barely any restaurant near us was still serving food. We were turned away from trusty Mac’s Shack because it was too busy, so we ended up at The Fox and Crow unplanned. Our entire group left beyond glad about this after our meals. Smaller menu, better quality. The atmosphere is super welcoming with very big and open exterior and interior dining areas, nicely contrasted in design. Low ambient light lit the indoor room. Each table had a little lamp, a tiny salt and pepper shaker, and real plants and flowers. Bathrooms were spacious, clean, and tidy.Service was excellent, even above and beyond. Our table drank a lot of water and never had to wait for more, thanks to the efficiency of both server and bussers. Our server Farrah, on top of checking in with us at least a couple times each course, knew and shared the history of the restaurant’s location. We had appetizers, entrees, and dessert. This place aced the sauce game from first course to last. Lemon aioli with the calamari really was the star of that plate: super light and fluffy, just the right amount of lemon. Pickled Fresno pepper, a super spicy and fun surprise on the calamari, was not overly pickled; just enough to soften it up and add a hint of flavor.Carrot appetizer, as almost everything here from food to surroundings, was well thought out. Usually only pre-trimmed wedges of carrots end up on a plate, but here we got the entire carrot. Rich and balanced arugula pesto sauce framed the roots with a subtle twist of balsamic reduction. We couldn’t leave any of the sauce on the plate, it was that good. Even our friend who doesn’t usually like arugula enjoyed this pesto. The tomatoes were a delightful pairing.Papas bravas, served as little hemispheres of baby potatoes, turned out perfectly crispy with the choicest amount of seasoning. The papas were not tossed or evenly coated in seasoning but rather concentrated in a dust of seasoning on top that mellowed out when chewed. The mouth gets a pop and spreads it out. Best potatoes I’ve had so far the entire calendar year, hands down. One friend doesn’t usually like kimchi, but he was pleased with the kimchi on my fried chicken sandwich. Moved mountains there. It felt milder than other kimchis, so it didn’t clash. It provided a lively curveball to an old American staple. Sauce complimented the sandwich nicely, of course.Didn’t expect anything different at this point. Sauces were also fantastic on the burger and the lamb lollipops. Cole slaw was not soaked in mayo. It reminded me of curtido, the traditional accompanying slaw to pupusas. I was so happy to see this variation instead of the standard cookout style. No doubt everything about the dessert was homemade, including the jam. Blueberry cheesecake came out not as a slice but in a jar. Layers included, from the bottom up, graham, sweet jam, a custom cheesecake base more tangy than the standard, and fresh blueberries on top. We left nothing in the jar when we were done. The whole meal felt like it came from grandma’s house. Everything was so carefully considered, down to so many lovely details and special touches. A contrast to how haphazardly we made the decision to dine here. Sometimes things really do happen for a reason.

Had an excellent dinner the Fox and Crow! The bartender told us they recently opened in their new location, and it really does have a great vibe. Everything we ordered was great. Excellent espresso martinis, cod croquettes, fish sandwich, and spicy chicken sandwich! Service was a little slow as they were still figuring it out, but everyone was kind and gracious. Great experience overall!

We LOVE to come here for drinks and night just as much as we love dinner here. They thought of it all: not-too-expensive, unique and delicious cape items like the clam empanada, great drinks, beautiful old tavern that has been here forever. All that and they are open in the off season too.Dietary restrictions: Great for pescatarian and gluten free

Very cute place for breakfast or brunch. Plenty of outdoor seating available. I got the North by northwest sandwich and my SO got the avocado toast. Both were perfect! We also got a latte which we both enjoyed. They have a decent sized garden where they get some of their ingredients. I was very impressed by this place!

Tasty breakfast sandwiches and more than the usual run of the mill eggs and bacon variety. Coffee was ok and service a little spotty but still worth a visit

The Jerusalem Bagel and cheddar biscuit were amazing! Simply the only way to state that. We were craving a nice homemade pastry, and this place didn’t let us down. The service was also fantastic.

Truly an outstanding kitchen. . .a foodie must try . . . creative cuisine beautifully presented. We had four different apps and three different mains. Not one miss out of the seven. The Dirt Farm salad was the best salad we have had in years. The calamari were obviously fresh and the batter was very much like a fine tempura. A baby carrot app might not sound like much but the sauce/dressing made it a big hit. The braised short ribs are what you hope for but often don't get when you order them - super tender and flavorful. The cod main was lovely and the cod itself was a 5 star piece of fish. We did not have any vegans in our group but we all agreed that the eggplant confit was a beautiful medley of flavors and well worth ordering. Excellent vibe and service. The wine list is eclectic with friendly prices. Fox and Crow is fortunate to have one of Cape Cod's best chefs.Vegetarian options: Takes vegan options seriously

Great pre- & post-OysterFest pit stop to grab an early coffee, or after-oyster bite & beverage.Accommodating menu for adults and young kiddies (3 & 6) and laid back but attentive staff.

Best Mai Tai in all of Cape Cod (maybe Mass!) We weren't expecting to find a true Trader Vic's Mai Tai, but it really doesn't get any better. Floating island is a nice touch. Had the Avacado Toast as well; very tasty. We will definitely be back!

Just had dinner here, and it was a delight start to finish! Great service (thanks Farrah) Fabulous food (Thanks Matthew) Beautiful location. Trudy (sp?) has created a wonderful dining experience that really stands out on the Cape. My wife and I are hard to please at times, and we recommend this restaurant with no reservations at all! Thai you everybody at The Fox and Crow

This is a great restaurant with an incredibly dedicated team and owner. They’ve gone an amazing job with the place. The live music is a lovely touch and the food is delicious. If you’re looking for a simple, relaxed affair with creative (and reliable) food, this is the place to go. A wellfleet staple.

Live music on Sunday evening created a wonderful lively atmosphere and the food was spectacular! Farm to table vibe with locally sourced ingredients and dishes that are prepared with care and creativity. The vegetable mezze plate was particularly delightful. Will definitely be coming again!

Our first date night since welcoming our daughter to the world was amazing. We sat at the bar and absorbed the atmosphere. Theresa took wonderful care of us, made delicious drinks and served some of the best food we've had in Wellfleet. We had the charcuterie board (more than enough for the two of us) and split two pizzas. The dough was airy with a crisp undercarriage, the toppings were fresh and the cheese had the perfect snappy pull. They have a carefully and intelligently chosen assortment of local beers, matching their wine selection. We had one of their rotating special cocktails, a blood orange delicacy, that made for an excellent start to our experience. We finished the night, instead of having dessert, with a delicious espresso martini (or 2). I highly recommend this establishment for an all around wonderful evening.

We really enjoyed our breakfasts here. The outside has a beautiful garden and peaceful feel. The mezze plate, egg sandwiches, and quiche were all delicious. The grapefruit juice was very fresh. The coffee wasn't as good as everything else, but wasn't bad. Our servers were friendly and did a good job. Breakfast here is a great way to start the day!

Went in to old beautiful place for a drink and an appetizer.A scant . and when a say “scant” tequila - $25 , yes not a typo . And a skimpy eggplant app- $16….. are you kidding me?I can’t comprehend these prices as (2) drinks pay for a bottle! mind boggling

I have no idea how this place got a high rating. If I could have given it zero stars I would. My daughter and I ordered a pizza and fries, just wanted something quick before heading to the drive in. The fries were limp and slimy and Luke warm. I swear that they must have microwaved frozen fries. They were horrible. Same thing for the pizza, I have eaten much better frozen pizza. The pizza was hot though, I will give them that. They definitely microwaved that long enough. The waitress was nice, and the place has a nice outdoor setting, but the food sucks. I wish I had gone to stop and shop and bought a frozen pizza and fries and nuked them myself. It would have tasted better and cost one fourth as much.

Sunday night at Fox and Crow was a highlight of our Wellfleet weekend. Three of us ordered an assortment of offerings, from the veggie mezze plate, to burgers and cioppino.Every dish was farm to table quality, casually but beautifully presented, and delicious. Our server was friendly and “on it”. Delightful live Irish music only added to the warm ambience. A must return!

45 minutes to make 2 tiny $15 average sandwiches. Won't be coming back again anytime soon.Reply to the restaurant:- Yes. I talked to 2 servers. None of them offered any type of gesture. "Sorry" was the best we got. I still tipped.- It was dine in. And after 45 minutes, i asked for the food to go, because we had 2 babies and they don't handle that long of a wait with no food easily.- The sandwich was something with ham and eggs on a ciabatta or dare i say half a ciabatta?

Just finishing our first meal at this fantastic Wellfleet place. We had a delicious eggy lunch with really nice cold brew, and it was all terrific! Also, the people were super friendly and there was lovely shaded outdoor seating. Wonderful experience all around!

We wanted to like this place since menu looked very good. But unfortunately most of the food we got wasn’t flavorful and our pizza didn’t come out right. They seemed to be very understaffed so service wasn’t the best as well, we barely got checked on and our server looked very weeded. I’m not sure if they are short staffed at the kitchen too or we just came in on a bad night. Desserts were very good and patio looked nice (beware of mosquitoes at night). Overall, lots of room for improvement.

Breakfast sandwich was good, but the waitress was a bit rude when I asked for goat cheese to be left off. She asked if it was an allergy which I appreciated, but when I told her no it was just a preference she seemed offended. She then proceeded to tell me the kitchen would be upset if she put the order in with the missing ingredient, and that the sandwich was 'meant to be with all the ingredients'. I said again that I would prefer it minus that one ingredient and wasn't trying to make any substitutions. My friend I was with asked to copy my order and the waitress again curtly said 'you really need to try it how it comes. Trust me'. It was an uncomfortable situation to have to repeatedly ask for what we wanted and getting pushback. I can appreciate an opinion or suggestion, but don't tell me I'm making a mistake when I order food the way I do, or make a comment when you check back to see how everything came out.

This place is so great. Was working nearby and happened to " re find" it. The staff makes everyone feel like a " regular" and the food is truly splendid. I went in for muffins and ended up enjoying a hearty beef stew. Went back the next day for a repeat!!

Was hoping for nice dinner, but drinks came out wrong, and same with pizza. Beautiful and cute patio but so many mosquitoes. Farro salad barely has any greens, Mediterranean pizza was not flavorful but deserts and cheese pizza were great. Seems like place is understaffed, we waited very long to put our order in. Really want to like this place but I don’t think I would give it a second chance.

Great spot for brunch. They have a limited menu but lots of specials. The peach and ginger pastries were excellent, but I found the savory ones (though tasty) to be a bit greasy. The quiche is also very good. There is plenty of spacious outdoor seating.

Very disappointed with the presentation and preparation of my food. I ordered the breakfast mezze which comes on a bagel. I asked for a gluten free substiution, which was taken care of. When I received my meal it came in two takeout containers; one had the toast and the other had the toppings. My toppings consisted of three condiment containers with toast spreads and about 5 sticks of cucumber. For $13 I felt that the meal should have included more, and at least been prepared better. I shared my concern with the young lady behind the counter and she agreed with me. She was very nice, apologized, and took my meal into the kitchen to add some extra vegetables. Needless to say, I was very disappointed when I got my food back. They added about 5 more cucumber sticks, about 5 red bell pepper slices, and a very small condiment container of pickled red onion.I was informed that they omitted one of the spreads because it contained wheat. I would have preferred to know upon ordering or had more of the other spreads/vegetables. The only thing that saved my breakfast was the bacon which was $4.25 and acceptable. I am not sorry to say that 2 slices of toast, 4 slices of bacon, some fancy condiments and a few slices of "varying in season vegetables" is worth anywhere near $17.25 before tax and tip.None of this is what prompted me to write this review, though. While we were eating, another woman thanked me for raising my concern. I extended a courtesy and told her the food was very good (I wanted to be polite). Her reply was simply "I know it is." Her response was so unexpected and shocking that it pushed me over the edge and compelled me to share my experience.Basically, the girl at the counter was great. The kitchen staff was stingy. The woman who thinks the restaurant food is good should have been more humble and simply said "thank you."

This is a must-visit, especially for when you aren’t rushed. Breakfast is their strongest meal and all the evening dishes I’ve had also are unique, creative, and tasty. The owners and staff are dedicated to the community and ran a free meals program during the pandemic. There are a few kinks to work out here when it’s busy in high season, and they sometimes run out of items or run behind.

I don’t give 5 stars lightly though we had an incredible time at the Fox and Crow. True hospitality, let yourself be taken and served. The outdoor garden, great music, spot on food, great wine list, and attentive cocktails make for quite the date night. Be authentic and receive the authentic hospitality that is not a commodity. Bravo to staff and owners who made us feel truly at home. Cheers to Gavino ; )
