I live around the corner, so I come here often. There has not been one time that the self checkout has not made an error and it’s extremely frustrating. The staff are nice, but understaffed and slow to respond. I wish more traditional cash registers were open.

I moved to this area not too long ago -- I had no idea how much I have been spoiled up until now in regards to grocery stores. This store showcases a pitiful selection and subpar produce. This is the only grocery I've ever visited where I felt justified in returning food which was either bland and tasteless, or even containing moldy and rotten items despite being bought before the expiration date. The staff are often rude and almost always clueless.It's unbelievable that Watertown can't do better.

I believe I received racial profiling vibes yesterday while shopping at your store. Please don't assume that I need to steal from your store because I am Black. The constant unwarranted staring actually made me feel very nauseous. Please train you staff to treat everyone with respect. This behavior shows that you were not properly raised.Also, please train your cashier's not to put bananas, at the bottom of the shopping bag, and then put heavy items, on top of the bananas or tomatoes. This causes bruising.

Sept2022: 4⭐: I stopped by this location to pick up a couple things I needed for my family visit to this area. I noted that there were handicap parking spaces available in front of the store. The parking lot is spacious and capable of having larger truck size vehicles. I entered the store and observed that everything was neat and appeared clean. Several workers were stocking up the produce areas and arranging the fruit and vegetables. I needed to also go to the service desk to get my card entered into the system. Apparently there's some glitch in the software that does not allow for this to happen.

Been trying to find out how to email the store directly.. just had a bad experience at the Watertown store and I really hate food shopping, now where Stop & Shop has become SOexpensive where it used to be cheaper than Star Mkt/Shaws, others in the area, .now it MORE expensive esp for things like juice, soup, bread..and more. I was frustrated while grabbing a few things b/c of this and then went to the self checkout and rung up bread I thought was 3.99 and rang up almost $6 ..absurd. I wanted the item taken off my sale and the woman there was walking away and told me & another customer waiting for help to stop calling her. I was already frustrated per the high prices..

Selection seems fine, and tons of parking is always nice!However, I will taking my shopping elsewhere because of my experience with the staff. The way that the power outage this morning was handled was unbelievably poor, and the staff were extremely rude about it.

Adjusting my previous review.There are seldom baskets at the door. Only massive shopping carts, no small ones like the other stop and shop across town. Everyone working always seems to be in the worst mood too. I had a price question (because the product was in the wrong spot.) But got attitude saying I grabbed the wrong one. No. I don't know if you need more workers, or what, but something needs to change. I'd rather drive across town to the other one, until it closes, or Roche Bros, just to not deal with this same nonsense. I've filled out the surveys before, it leads to nothing. I think I would rather this one close than the one across town.

First off, I used to work at Stop & shop, you had to join the union which pretty much worked for the company itself, So you had to pay union dues while working for minimum wage which put you below minimum wage, what a scam, secondly they get the best eggnog I've ever had in my life, considering I hate eggnog, somebody confided me who worked there that Garelic farms made eggnog for Stop & shop, the Stop & shop brand, every year they start putting it out in September when nobody drinks it, Then they used to run out three or four years ago just before Christmas, Then it was two weeks before Christmas, Then it was by December 3rd, Stop & shop is a family-owned business, some of the family members need to be fired they're incompetent. I asked the manager at both stores, Why does this happen every year, Not only do you run out before the holiday of when it's the stuff is actually used, but every year you run out earlier than you did the previous year, They ran out November this time around both stores, All the manager could say was, sir, I'll send your complaint up to corporate, The way I did last year, and the year before, Stop & shop only sells one thing I can't get someplace else and what do they do They run out of it earlier every single year for the last 4 or 5 years in a row, If this that isn't gross incompetence I don't know what is,

Packaged stuff is fine.Fruit is often less so. But I love the aisle cleaner, or whatever it does. Nothing like feeling something hovering over you and looking around to see the tall, dark "shopper's companion." By and large, this is a pretty good place for most shopping.

Everything that is store branded is garbage. It doesn't matter if it's cheese, or breadcrumbs. If it's got the stop and shop logo on it, don't buy it. This is not like Kirkland. The branded products are bottom tier.This specific store is also laid out in the most unintuituve way. If you go in for something specific, good luck finding it.The fact that it's clean gets it an extra star. I wish there was somewhere else closer by to shop than this place.Edit four months later - Downgrading my review. These people don't deserve 2 stars.The staff are rude, there are never any baskets by the door, the bike rack is a dangerous joke, and the layout is even worse than when I first started shopping here.Came in for one thing. Took me 10 minutes to find cooking oil. In the produce section. I would no more expect to find cooking oil by the fruit that I would in the freezer isle.This place is a bad joke run by mean, slack jawed, at times literally drooling, morons.Whatever corporate non-apology that might be made in response to this review is absolute pandering platitudes. They won't change anything to make the experience better. They just want to virtue signal as if they cared.Someone of actual competence needs to come run this place, armed with a whip and a chair like an old school lion tamer, if there is any chance to pull this place out of the minimum wage hellscape that it's descended into.

*update 2023-07-09*At LEAST a year after my original review. Downgraded my review to 1 star. They gave me some lip service response about how customer experience is so important. The bike rack has now pretty much disintegrated (see photos). C'mon, S&S. How hard is it to replace infrastructure like this?! You're RIGHT next to a bike path for goodness sake. Unacceptable.I recently rode my bike here to get some groceries and was appalled at the condition of the bike rack. Many of the bars are so rusted that they've fallen out of the rack, and the rest aren't far behind. Be careful where you lock your bike, because most of it's not secure.

This review is for the deli specifically. I will come out of my way specifically because of Kelly and Patrick. They actually follow your instructions and cut meat how you want it, and how much you want it. Everything is always in stock there too. Best Stop and Shop by far and one of the better grocery stores in the Watertown/ Cambridge area.

Really nice employees here. I needed help finding my favorite kombucha and they were right on it! Stop and shop has really stepped up their organic/nature's game recently and it has not gone unnoticed!

Great location and great parking. However, there are always very long and slow lines with only one or two registers open despite lots of customers waiting. Many products run out of stock so you cannot rely on finding what you need. Several of the employees look disgruntled. It seems very badly managed.

I am really grateful for Matt and the staff today. The battery of my car died unexpectedly and the staff in this store were very nice and kind. Matt willingly helped me out to get my car going again. I really appreciate the manager to allow him to help me as well. Great staff in this store!!

There are never handbaskets by the door, I went there for 2-3 years because it was just close, and I went back the other day and everything was just worse, still trying to find baskets for a good 5 minutes before I can start shopping, then god forbid you’re customer service counter can give out rolls of quarters. Your little bank in the store won’t either if you’re not a customer of theirs. This is a basic service every other supermarket provides.

People ask me where I shop and I tell them. I get the typical shout out " Damn their prices r outrageous." I don't mind paying a couple extra pennies to have a friendly atmosphere.And RITA should get a gold ✨️.Maybe 2gold 🌟's. She never loses her cool under pressure.

They're going through some supply-chain issues currently, clearly, but their selection is usually pretty good. Hit-or-miss, but definitely doable for basics.The reason they get 2 stars is, some time ago they decided to change their self-check-out machines. Now, they are calibrated for weight. Which anyone who has encountered these machine will know is a disaster.The machines constantly misidentify the weight of things, scream at you to "please place your item in the bag!" or chime "unidentified item in the bag!" when you haven't scanned anything. The customer service reps are constantly having to run over to assist people, though when I say "run," I mean casually saunter with all the attitude they can muster. They consistently staff self-check-out with the most useless, rude people they can find.Recently, when the machine of course malfunctioned before I had even scanned an item, no customer service rep was anywhere to be found. I moved over to a new machine to start over... Some time later, a customer service rep appeared. She said, "were you at this other machine?" I responded yes, and it had malfunctioned. She said "then come get me." What? Come get you? Who ARE you? This was the first time I'd ever seen this person, where and how would I "come get" her? But these are the folks they hire to staff this area. Sigh.They need to go back to the previous machines. Some of us appreciate getting to maintain privacy, pack our own items the way we'd like and at the pace we'd prefer without constant nonsense.

more like shop-and-go-broke. This place is more expensive than Trader Joes or Whole Foods.Also the worst customer service from the black self-check out lady. She was extremely rude. she degraded us for our product choices, and invasively went through our purchase more than one. She wouldn't let us bag our own groceries. She then walked away, then yelled at a customer just because he was a Hispanic man buying juice. She didn't believe he could afford it.

My mother and I have been coming here for quite some time, we love it every time! There are two or three employees that need to be more respectful but hey not everyone is gonna be nice in this world. Great location, great store.

Really one of the most expensive grocery stores in the area. I'm always disappointed when I have no choice but to visit this Stop & Shop as their prices start high and only get higher. Even a small rotisserie chicken costs $8, which is far higher than the typical price of ~$4.75 at most other groceries in the area.My main complaint with this Stop & Shop is its self-checkout lanes. They are extremely fiddly and I have never managed to use them without at least one issue for which a disgruntled employee needs to swipe a card and log in or something. I have never had any issues with their manned checkouts, however.The location of this store is good, and their selection is decent overall, but the extremely high prices and tedious self-checkout process usually make it worth my time to drive 20 minutes to the nearest Market Basket instead.
