September 7, 2023.Espresso drinks: their sizes start at 12 ounces with one shot of espresso and they’re medium size is 16 ounces with two shots. They were willing to make me a smaller eight or 10 ounce drink with two shots which I appreciated. I have a number of signature lattes, which combine to different flavor syrups.

~$12 for 20oz iced coffee, 12oz hot coffee, and a cinnamon roll. Short wait time with quick service. Enough to get something before getting on the ferry. Iced coffee tasted like water though. Hot coffee tasted burnt. Cinnamon roll was fine. I’ll avoid getting coffee at this place on the future, but pastries are fine for a quick snack.

The bakery definitely benefits from the iconic Black Dog name and the amazing fortune for being the first eatery you see coming off the ferry. But, as many know, that convenience usually comes at the cost of lower quality of just about everything. Please keep in mind, everyone's tastes are individual to themselves. However, we found our experience here as one that could have been much better. We find the coffee to be weak. My husband got hot coffee (points for temperature) and I got iced (major points for having simple syrup, although the ratio is off so it's more like sweet water than syrup. If you like your coffee sweet, be prepared to put a lot in there). My husband ordered an everything bagel with butter. He was given cream cheese instead because (not kidding) they were out of butter. Being located 50 feet from Stop and Shop, this was pretty disappointing. But on the other hand, given the poor bagel reviews, maybe he dodged a bullet. He got a coffeecake muffin instead (which was totally fine but nothing to rave about).I got a chocolate croissant, which looked like it would have been good if it was heated up but given to me cold... It was a hard, albeit sweet, not terribly enjoyable croissant with ends that were so hard and burnt you could only really eat the middle. The staff was nice, especially at the end of one of the hardest seasons imaginable. Dealing with loads of tourists streaming off ferries every day can't be easy even in a good year. All in all, my recommendation is if you need something to tide yourself over this is a fine place to go. But if you're going to be cranky about botched results or you're picky by nature either go somewhere else or know what you're getting into before ordering and then don't be a jerk if it's not up to your standards.

Opens at 6 a.m. for food they have a huge selection of coffee baked goods and make very tasty burritos on the grill. They also have a boatload of black dog gift items. And sell bread. Friendly staff. Kitchen closes at 2pm.

The Black Dog is religion on Martha's Vineyard, and it is not without cause! The entire complex is well designed and beautiful with creative products and an incredible, simple, brand. The bakery was great for a simple breakfast and good coffee drinks. The scramble bowl with hash was noteworthy. The chocolate croissant was actually a little too chocolatey and would benefit from heating, but I never asked them too. I have a lot of grace for young staff in a tourist madhouse so they were good.

Came in for a quick breakfast before our day started. Spinach and feta croissant was fantastic- pastry was perfect croissant texture and the spinach was moist without getting the croissant soggy. Iced coffee on point. The smoked salmon bagel was huge! Jam-packed with smoked salmon and delicious. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. There’s a reason it’s an icon, and a must-do - even if it’s just the coffee shop on Water St.

nice area. but very slow service. staff are not paying attention to orders on the shelf. just wandering around and rude to customers who ask simple questions. leaning on the counter and talking at a excessive volume. there’s food sitting on the grill not being touched. i waited 15 minutes for an online order.

I'm never coming back. The male worker who was working around 3:30pm on 7/23/2023 loudly made fun of me right after I paid for my order and another worker joined him and started laughing also. I was already having a bad day and don't understand how someone could be so cruel, when I was polite to everyone and I didn't exchange a single word with him before the incident.

I usually love visiting the black dog, well, anything. I just have a very warm view of the brand. However, this visit was terrible. There was a line and it moved pretty quickly. So that was good. The counter staff that waited on me looked miserable. I ordered a muffin and large coffee. She charged me, got my muffin and placed it on the counter in front of me and just walked away. I assumed to get my coffee. Then I saw her walking up and placing 2 small coffees further down, at another party of the counter. Then I noticed a large coffee sitting there. I asked the the other counter staff, "should I be waiting somewhere else for my coffee?" She was pleasant and said, "oh yes, it's over there," pointing toward where I saw the coffee sitting. I walked over, hung around and never heard anyone call my name or anything. So, I asked another customer, "how do you know which coffee is yours?" He responded, "we just guessed." So, I did the same and took the one that had been sitting on the counter. Then I go the the fixing station. It was dirty, most things were empty except the overspill bucket which was nearly overflowing itself. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I'll definitely not be going back. I'll walk up to Mocha Mott's next time.

Great breakfast sandwich, fast service (don't let the line fool you - it's a wait, but not as long as you think it will be), and they were able to accommodate a severe peanut allergy for a smoothie (the rest of the bakery goods were not safe, but we never expect that they are)! Thank you!

The service is terrible this year. The teens that are working there aren’t interested in helping customers. I stood in line for five minutes before someone from the kitchen reminded the cashiers to get back to work. They didn’t have skim milk or know how to make an iced coffee. Way too much milk even though I asked for light milk. They didn’t have large straws for the large cups. The food took forever. I would skip it if you can! Waterside Cafe up the street is excellent.

We stopped here before taking the ferry back to Woods Hole. I wasn't paying attention, and tried to order from the breakfast menu, and when I was told they were done serving breakfast, I panicked and said, "a sandwich? like ham and cheese, lettuce and tomato?"They didn't have that on the menu, so they improvised. I think they made me a BLT and added ham and put it on a ciabatta bun. FRIENDS. IT WAS SO GOOD. I took a bite, said "This is so good!" and then I would take another bite and I would say it again and I ain't even embarrassed, that sandwich was great

Great location and a nice vibe. They had closed the kitchen a bit early so my partner wasn't able to order. The coffee and croissant I had were good, nothing special but not bad!

Good but often crowded location. Have visited a few times over the years and have no real complaints. Its not uncommon to have your order mixed up though its really not a big deal given how many people are ordering at once and how quickly everyone is working. All in all this is a pretty good location worth visiting if you are in the area and are looking for a breakfast stop.

Americano was so watery it was almost flavorless. Our toasted bagel was two bagel bottoms (no top) that wasn’t toasted nor did it have cream cheese on the side. My salmon bagel was also not toasted and also did not have cream cheese. It had about a dozen flecks of seasoning, which apparently passes as a an “everything” bagel. Both bagels were super bland. What a complete waste of money. Never again.

Came in for a coffee and breakfast sandwich before my ferry on july 15 at around 7:45 am. The girl at the counter taking my order tells me that they aren't doing breakfast sandwiches because the grill is broken. I ordered a fritter instead and went to wait in the pickup line. Of course i had a clear view into the back kitchen where i could clearly see 2 young men cooking bacon and eggs in the grill, joking around and having no sense of urgency for getting orders out in a timely manner. I will not be coming back since having the girl at the counter lie right to my face has left a very bad taste in my mouth. The management/owners need to do a complete staff overhaul in my honest opinion. The fritter is terrible as well.

We were waiting for our ferry so had a quick bite. The Ham Biscuit was well worth the 6.00 and they have a great variety of branded merchandise. From stuffed animals to coffee mugs. The our pet friendly so our puppy Patches the wonder dog came in tow.

Coffees were okay. Our bagels were the store bought type, toasted but came out very soft and chewy. Cream cheese is Philadelphia cream cheese pod.

Convenient for coffee, avocado toast, and granola first thing in the morning. This location is ideal for those headed off on the ferry. There's a cute outdoor garden where you can enjoy your purchases.

2 breakfasts and 1 supper with 2 friends. That should be a 'hint'.At this Black Dog - (on Water St) they don't 'put on the dog'.There is no dress code and they don't take reservations - they don't need to.Good water view, noise level okay, service & food excellent withgenerous amounts. Wine by the glass or bottle.Perfect pancakes and perfectly cooked seafood dished (not overcooked whichseems to be a specialty at many restaurants). The bill/cost was in line.Note: we were there in May, i.e. not yet tourist season.

Great "Tug Boat" (chicken salad) sandwich, paired with friendly service and a half-apparel-front store for the Black Dog. The biggest issues I've found are that sometimes orders get mixed up, and that there are not enough seats so you'll often have to stand to eat inside.

Quaint shop offering limited breakfast and lunch options in the Black Dog Complex. Nice to have the choice when the Black Dog Tavern is booked! They have a small shop with various apparel choices included tee shirts, jackets and other items for your souvenir needs. The BD General Store is just a hundred feet away if you seek more options.

Perfect spot to pick up some bakery items or sandwiches before heading out onto the ferry. Seating can be somewhat limited depending on time of the day and time of the year.
