It is with much dismay that I write this review. I used to love this place but in the last few years I’ve seen a decline in service and product. My friend and I have been ordering meat chicks twice a year (spring and fall) and turkeys from them for a few years. The first two years were great. This last year has been awful.This year my friend went to go pick up our 80 Cornish cross chicks. Upon arrival the older woman at the desk told him that they had a large amount of chicks die overnight and they were only able to give us 50. Well this certainly sucks to plan for 80 and only get a little more than half that.Yesterday I went in to pick up some feed. I asked the same woman if she had any extra meat chicks. She said oh no they’re all gone. I asked did you have any issues with them this year. She replied that they had not and that they had sold 800. I asked if any had died and she replied that it hadn’t been an issue. This really discouraged me. So then I asked why my friend and I had been shorted 30 chicks she claimed that the hatchery had shorted them about 100 chicks.I really loved coming here for my meat chicks but I thinks it’s time that we order right from the hatchery and cut out the middle man. I can understand if there was an issue with the chicks because they’re live animals and you can’t control what happens but I won’t tolerate being lied to.

Recently purchased some chicks. 2 out of 3 died within the first 18 hours. Called the shop and the lady who answered was rude, unprofessional and said it was on me. I breed my own chickens and have never had issues. This lady chose to be rude over a few dollars worth of chicks versus providing customer service.Be cautious when purchasing here, I question the quality of the chicks.

Had 50 bales of hay delivered, 28 of them are moldy and the owner refuses to remedy the situation in any way. What a massive waste of money. Absolutely horrible business practice, extremely unprofessional. Will be taking appropriate action towards a resolution for my losses. This place does NOT guarantee their hay, I recommend going elsewhere.Edit to add that I have stored my hay in the same spot of the same barn for 6+ years and have NEVER encountered ANY moldy hay not once, until now. This is not a storage issue on my end. Our barn is newer, water tight and never once been an issue. These bales appear to have been baled not fully dry as the mold was originally noticed on the INSIDE of the flakes and spread outward. This is the 1st and the last time we will purchase hay from Ventura as they will not guarantee the moldy hay that came from them... bales DO NOT get THIS moldy in 3 weeks kept in a dry barn and stored correctly unless they were already molded/wet within. It's really a shame that this store doesn't care about their customers or getting people's horses sick. They couldn't even have the common decency to even LOOK at the hay or call me back.

This company has been in business for years. We have used them for hay, greens and bird supplies. Great place to shop and the prices are fantastic. They also sell Coal for those that have Coal Stove’s.

Went here to buy some coal for my stove. They've got 3 or 4 different sizes. I've been here before for chicken feed abs straw/hay. These people are always nice and very helpful.

I grabbed a bale of hay from this store and it was of very poor quality. It was the one that cost roughly $14. Lots of sharp thistles which were too sharp to feed to the rabbits and Guinea pigs. The hay turned the Guinea pig’s poo black. I said ok well I’ll use it in the garden then to cover my seedlings. I’m not sure what you guys use in terms of broad leaf herbicides and such but whatever was sprayed on this hay destroyed a multitude of plants in my garden. I have never seen such damage before and it looks as it maybe targeted the nightshades. I am now remediating my soil due to this contamination. I would NOT recommend buying hay from this place. Such a shame.

You could (I suppose) shop for your agricultural needs in Iowa or Nebraska or you could stop by this local gem and get everything a farm could need right here in your neighborhood! Awesome selection of material, feed and property care items with outstanding staff always at the ready to assist. Two thumbs up!!

Their chicken feed prices are unbeatable and I don't have to worry about larger companies having difficulty with supply chains and replacing ingredients from shady suppliers. Ventura is consistent and reliable...and so are my layers! All of my ladies laid reliably all winter.

The girl working the front today was extremely rude. Wife drove over an hour to spend more than a grand on equipment. Asked if there was a restroom she could use. This girl said no, she should drive down the road. She also had an attitude and ignored her for several minutes with no other customers present. So wife went back to the truck to pee in a bottle. After, one of the guys who helped load up said "oh yeah I could show you the bathroom it's just through that door" 🙄

The crew here is fantastic! I’m always happy to see their faces. If you need any questions answered Deb is your girl! She is an encyclopedia of animal knowledge 💛. Feed is great! Tons of supplies and the feed is much better quality and fresher than any other you’ll buy. This is NOT tractor supply, these guys care about you, take pride in their products, and will go out of their way to make sure you and your animals are taken care of.

Prices here like every where have gone up quite a bit but it's nice to have everything bird feed, farm feed, shavings chicken coop supplies dog treats and food toys and so on. Very friendly staff and knowledgeable lady behind the counter

Got a few very tough and thick 4 by 6 foot rubber stall mats to use in home gym, they loaded them right in my SUV. Nice people would do business there again.

I bought six chicks from this store. Put them into a box in which I made two layer of space for them to eat, drink and sleep. I have been doing this for over six years and had never had any problem. Three days later, a first dead chick was found, another three days later, the second one died. I don't know how many will die before they can leave the box. I went back to the store asking for replacement. They refused！They asked me whether or not I used the heating lamp, I said yes. Then they said all the chick in their place are all fine. The only problem could be the transportation. In that case, the chicks will die the next day not to die three days later. I WILL NOT buy anything from them.Update：Thanks to the administration of Ventura Grain, My lost chicks were replaced. I will continue to be a frequent visitor to their lovely store.

Everything a farmer or farmer-wannabe could want. I'm the latter, and these folks have it all and are ready to help you do it right. I found a 36" galvanized fire ring that I couldn't locate in an internet search. I've been going to Ventura Grain since I was a teenager (5 decades?) and still find it amazing that it thrives in Taunton, which is not exactly Kansas. Stop buying the immitations at the box stores and GO!

I come here for bulk feed for our cows and chickens. They always have what we need in stock and are easy to get to and work with. You can back right up to the dock and start loading up whatever you need. If your animals need feed, come to Ventura.

The chicken feed here is the best that I could find. I get layer pellets for egg laying chickens. The chickens liked Ventura's feed more than other brands I tried and the price was the best too. Also bought winter rye seed here last fall and it germinated great. I checked on line and the price also was the best and because Ventura Grain in local for me, I didn't have to wait for the seed to be mailed to me. The staff is always helpful and they load the heavy feed bags in your trunk for you!
