Adopted Sophie Ann on April 9th 2023. Easter Sunday . With a lots of love, patience, training she is overcoming her fears. She came into our lives when we needed each other. Thank you Dakin and Betsy!. We love her so much!

Overall great place, helped with being able to get my mother's cat fixed, has been helpful with post-op check ups.The only reason it's not a 5☆ is because when bringing the cat to be dropped off, the woman in charge of getting the animals checked in, stated the day after when we picked the cat up, said we were supposed to pick up the cat the same day at 3pm, but she never said that at all. So we followed the instructions in the email sent to us prior the day of the appointment. Which stated to pick up the next day at 3pm. NOT the same day.

It's been going on 8 years since your staff and facility helped me with my rescued kitten Casper, so this long overdue. Thanks to your awesome staff for handling him with such care... He's the best!

I have never been so unsatisfied with a shelter. I had to make the unfortunate decision of surrendering my three year old cat, Pinga, and I was met with an array of different and unclear information. My biggest complaint is that after just two days of being there, they were already saying that she might need to be euthanized because she wasn't adapting well. The first day someone called me (because I was constantly contacting them to make sure Pinga was okay) to tell me that Pinga was doing great, that she is so cute, and Pinga let the employee pet her. As I said, the day after that, someone else was telling me that they most likely were going to put her down if she continued not eating and disobeying the rules. When I went to take her out of there today, she was given ANOTHER name, and employees were telling me other things related to Pinga that had nothing to do with what other employees were telling me via email and over the phone days prior, which were that Pinga was aggressive, growling, and even hissing. The best thing we did was to get Pinga out of there, and thankfully my family and my community were able to find a foster home AND a permanent home for our Pinga NOT through Dakin's erratic services. I got Pinga spayed at this location years ago and there were no issues there. I am sure Dakin is good at what they do in other regards, HOWEVER, I HIGHLY recommend you do not leave your precious babies at this killing factory! (Other comments like this confirm we are not the only ones who experienced this!) The photo shows the name they gave her instead 😡 -10/10 experience , GO ELSEWHERE

This animal clinic is top notch! It's amazing all the services it provides. Suggest you go online to there website to view all the services they provide. I also ask you to donate to support Dakin Humame Society. Make a small or larger donation to this amazing animal clinic. Prices for services are based on your needs and financial situation.

My experience was so wonderful, I just adopted Ari (Aurora), it's only been a couple of days but he's absolutely getting settled in. He is so precious, and the person who processed the adoption was so fantastic, thank you so much

I thought Dakin understood poverty among pet owners but after the way my Chihuahua "Prince" was treated I don't think Dakin is for my pets anymore.

Try to save a cats life, get told no based on personal opinion. Neutered male cat can't go to a home with non- spayed cat. first I've ever heard of that. Let the cats die before going to a good home, nice.

I feel sorry for the "poor" people that have to go here. It is so unfair to the animal that has to be euthanized without their loved one holding them for a final goodbye. When you can't afford to take your senior pet to the vet and pay upwards of $300 not only do you miss saying a proper farewell but your old friend has to die alone. My words cannot express the sorrow that my heart 💔feels. They are good enough to charge half of that price but not good enough to sympathize. May I never have to go there again.

Dakin Humane Society is a haven for animals in need. I adopted my furry friend from here, and the staff made the adoption process smooth and caring. They genuinely care for the animals' well-being and offer various programs to promote responsible pet ownership. A wonderful organization doing important work.

This was my first visit here and I must say, I highly recommend this place. I took my cat to get neutered and the process was easy from start to finish. They were friendly and I could tell that they really care about animals. The spay/neuter clinic did a great job caring for my kitty.I have never adopted an animal from Dakin however, many of my friends have and highly recommend this place for adoption as well.

An older woman with glasses and short white hair was very disrespectful towards my friends and I. She did not greet us when we walked in, and when we were looking to adopt she simply told us that since we weren’t looking to adopt that we should move aside and let other people look at the animals. She assumed we were not looking to adopt for reasons i’m not sure of.

Always a great experience. Adopted a cat rescued by them years ago and back for a health check after changing vet practices.

Formal, friendly team willing to ensure healthy adoptions and transfer of the family pets (Cats) we adopted. The adoption and legal fees can uproot to $300 but you have a chance of finding a new family added member that's healthier or mature. They will probably end up loving you or need time to trust

Purchasing multiple cats from Dakin, it is easy to give them a 5 star rating and recommend them to anyone looking for a cat or dog addition to your family. They go above and beyond to make sure the new addition to your family is going home with all the necessary equipment information and resources to ensure a smooth and comfortable transition! Thank you to Springfield and the Dakin team

Overall a good experience. Went in looking and walked out with two cats. So I'd say a good deal all around. Pickle and Hazel. Pickle came home that day. Hazel had to stay for observation cause of being spayed. Hopefully this weekend she'll reunite with her brother Pickle. This is Pickle in the pictures.

The staff was so kind and friendly. We were only there for spay/neuter surgeries for adopted kitties and they were so thoughtful. Wish we lived closer, we would switch to them for all our veterinary needs

Adopted my cat Cody here in 2011 and took him back for a vet visit. Dr. Kulow and staff were awesome, and Cody is feeling much better.

This is a great place with excellent medical care and programs. I respect them for the compassionate work they do helping animals. However I do wish that if I find an injured or stray animal in need could come to them for help without the judging. That the staff at Dakin would exercise unconditional positive regard for the animal and that person bringing the animal in. I shouldn't have been be made to feel like I shouldn't be there with an animal in need. The staff, all but one was very unwelcoming and some flat out rude.Dakin clearly did not want to accept this cat in need of medical attention for what appeared to be an infection as a result of being homeless. Then after taking custody of the cat the questioning and comments were suggestive that I know the owner or I am the owner but lying about this injured cat. Even after telling them that our town ACO told me to bring it there and that I know our town has a contract with them to accept and pay for these cats it still was an unwelcomed surrender. It is my hope that this review helps them become more aware and welcoming to people bringing in an animal off the street and actually glad they noticed it needed help. After all those homeless, discarded animals are the ones that need it most, and why most donate to your establishment for them! There should be something like a "safe haven" system for animals as it took days to figure out where and how to go about getting injured animal access to help. Dakin did take the animal in but I've yet to see it available for adoption. The cat even tho injured was friendly.Anyway I now understand why people either don't get involved or just leave the box outside the back door type of situation. So Dakin, if that's not what you want people to keep doing then you must create a better system for people who go way out of their way to helpanimals in need. Clearly, there isn't enough help on the outside where these animals roam for months on end starving, sick, injured, suffering from many easily treated conditions. No matter what city it came from or the way it got there, just kindly help it please!

Friendly efficient, informative staff! Doing a great service with low cost spay and neuter. It was a breeze. Pay attention to the videos they send, it makes it smooth in and out. My Archie dog was neutered there yesterday, they were wonderful we him and me. I appreciate you!

3 kittens were dropped off on my mother's door step. Dakin couldn't/wouldn't take them for almost 2 weeks. We fed, and bathed them& Socialized them. When we finally dropped them off, they asked " if we don't think they meet our standards for adoption, do you want to be notified before we euthanized them." We were like hell yes. We no longer made it back home, only to get a phone call saying our kittens were Feral and would be put down. We asked & payed for them to be spay and neutered. A few days after they were spay & neutered, we pickup them up, found them homes where they live happy lives. Ever since Leslie has left, & Karina King became the Director, Dakin has gone to hell. All I see are SPIRIT kittens available for adoption. Yet my socialized kittens who slept on our laps were Feral and needed to be euthanized. DON'T trust them to do the right thing by your pet. They are a low kill shelter. Yet they decided to kill 3 kittens they had for less than an hour. Thank God we were able to take them back and find them loving homes. I remember how Leslie was out working with the community. Everyone loved Leslie who made Dakin what it was. Now under the new Director I feel Dakin has gone to hell. The people are RUDE. I tried to reach out to , the director, but apparently she couldn't be bothered to reach back. I use to be a donor, now I donate to TJO. They at least are friendly, rescue and reunite animals, and return phone calls. Dakin went from being an amazing organization, to something I don't recognize. I personally blame the new director.

The Dakin center is amazing with what they do for all family members because our doggies and cats become part of us as soon as we lay eyes on them. Thank u Dakin

It was one of the easiest, rewarding process, due to a dedicated staff, there is a lot going on there, I met with the foster mom, who was just wonderful, and my advocate was Sara, who was just as wonderful, I met the vet, who spayed her to check her wound, I must say just as wonderful, as I sat there I observed the staff, what a caring group of people, I met a few foster parents, also a caring group of people, it was a clean environment, with many helpful people.

They pretty much give you directions on how not to help a stray on there website. There's a chart PDF file and saying pretty much everything you can do to not really help a stray. Then I called them, Leverett Dankin is shut down and Springfield only open 9am-3pm and people are coming from everywhere for services from DANKIN because now there's none up in another county or any help at all.You guys should really really change up your attitudes first of all about strays and in general, and second, how about offer more services for people who can't make a trip to get a carrier or whatever.Disappointed because y'all were good up in Leverett but after the call with Alana and her attitude with someone in panic mode and upset was very disappointing, and just looking at the website about strays, it was more like shoo shoo the stray away then anything, and that's heart breaking that's how they think it should be done.
