Wonderful place! The staff always make sure that the guinea pigs are as healthy and happy as possible. There is a large variety of piggies so whatever you’re looking for they will have. When adopting, they will make sure that the guinea pig you choose is a good fit for your situation, and prepare you for what you need as much as possible. You can come in and feed them, vegatables are provided (but you can also bring your own!). They allow boarding, and they have a gift shop. This place tries to have ways to bring the community together and are always offering fun opportunities for holidays. It’s a amazing place to volunteer at, and a great option if you’re looking to adopt!

The amount of work that you guys do is immeasurable. You provide care, shelter, and support for piggies that have been left outside in boxes, in dumpsters, and others that no one gave love and care to. We love our two boys and they are very happy to have been given a second chance. I have no idea how you are able to handle the tragic cases and loss involved with your rescue. We are all behind you and your efforts!

I loved the Guinea Pig Sanctuary. It was definitely worth a visit. So many guinea pigs to see and feed. You can bring your own vegetables to feed them.

The staff are very knowledgeable about Guinea pigs in their entirety (diet, behavior, environment, etc). You can tell that they take their jobs very seriously, and love all of the Guinea pigs that they take care of!We brought our male pig in to do some “speed dating”. Basically, one of the staff members handled our Guinea pig (gently) and introduced him to other Guinea pigs to see what would be a good match. She was thorough, patient, and above all very knowledgeable on any questions we had. I would absolutely recommend going here if I were to adopt again in the future.

This place is wonderful. What they do for these Guinea pigs is amazing! I went in not knowing what to expect and left with a full heart and a new family member. You can tell they put so much into saving these Guinea pigs and they really care about who takes them home. The owner was very helpful in making sure I had everything I needed for the piggy! Even if you’re not looking to adopt a piggy this is a great place to stop into! Highly recommended!!!

They are very knowledgeable and helpful. I appreciated their help finding a new friend who was a good match for our guinea pig when she lost her cage mate.

1. Grab some baby carrots, broccoli and romaine lettuce2. Go to this special sanctuary and enjoy every minute feeding Guinea pigs! This was my second visit here, such a wonderful experience. If you’re looking for a free thing to do with kids (well $10 for produce), while making a difference this is the place!

Absolutely amazing rescue for guinea pigs. They work tirelessly to keep all the guinea pigs happy and healthy. People keep dumping 2, 5, or 10 pigs off at a time and they make room for them and adopt them out. So many other rescues would just turn them away. But not here. Please go support the guinea pig sanctuary in any way you can, adopt, donate, volunteer. ❤️❤️❤️

Do you love piggies? Well, so do every volunteer we dealt with at the sanctuary. They were very friendly and informative. Walked away from our adoption wishing we could take more but happy knowing the piggies we had to leave behind were in good hands.

This was such a special visit! I visited for the first time today just to look around and was truly amazed. The owner was so sweet and clearly loves each guinea pig dearly. She had a food and toiletry free pantry at the front for those in need, and has buckets of food to give the pigs when you visit. There are bracelets, pins, and little trinkets available for anyone to take, which is so sweet. I found a beautiful special needs guinea pig named Tommie, and the owner was so patient and detailed answering all my questions about him, even when I told her I had to figure out if I would be able to adopt him. She sends each guinea pig home with a cage and veggies, and is clearly in this for her love of animals. Such a beautiful visit and I will definitely be back soon!

Kim is absolutely wonderful. She’ll do anything to help piggies and their owners. I adopted a guinea pig from petco who turned out to be pregnant and she took them in for emergency boarding for me. So thankful for all their help and making sure my girls were okay. Now I have a momma with 4 healthy babies, and a sister who got to eat well on her “vacation” at the sanctuary.

Guinea pigs are lucky to end up in such a caring shelter before finding their furever homes. Great place full of knowledgeable and kind volunteers. Excellent boarding service and fun community events as well!

Me and my boyfriend love going in to see the piggies. We always come in and bring in our own veggies for everyone. We enjoy feeding them, holding the piggies. Everyone is always so friendly and knowledgeable. I adopted my two girls Coco and Pandora there.

I recently adopted 2 female guinea pigs from the sanctuary, Fluffina and GingerSweet. I was looking to match up my two girls and brought them there with me . I was immediately introduced to two guinea pigs and the ladies there helped with my girls to make sure it was the right matches . I drove 2 hours up and 2 hours back and would do it all over again. The pigs are very well taken care of . Thank you Guinea Pig Sanctuary!

I love the guinea pig sanctuary and everything they do. We adopted our Echo from there a little less than a year ago and he's been thriving. The GPS does so much for guinea pigs and they deserve all the praise and more. We're so thankful for everything they do. And so thankful for introducing Echo into our lives.(When i say "we" i mean my family, of course)

It's very clear that they are doing very important work here, and I admire the dedication they have to their pigs.My partner and I lost one of our two pigs recently and decided it would be best that our one remaining pig, Pepper, be brought somewhere that we felt was safe and comfortable, knowing she'd be in good hands and with the company of other guinea pigs.Upon arriving, it was very clear that they were very busy and very much filled to the brim with pigs. It was also very clear that they're all dedicated to their jobs; there is no discredit there. The sanctuary takes donations; they tell you to bring all of their belongings with them, and we did just that, just for them to tell us to leave them outside on the ground in the rain (this was a cage, hay, treats, houses, etc.).I was very upset in the first place, having made this decision to bring my pig there, and I was emotional about the hand-off in general.I let the girl at the door know what we were there for, and she seemed kind at first. She saw Pepper, and I told her that she had been the smallest of our four, and her only response was to look at me with a fake smile of disgust and say, "Yeah, that's a fat pig." I attempted to explain to her what was happening, and she just kept passive aggressively saying "thank you so much" over and over again, not listening to me or caring at all about how this hand-off was effecting me.There was an older woman running around doing what seemed like intake information, pig care, etc.; she seemed busy and hardworking. However, she was extremely rude and essentially asked someone to take Pepper, and she was very quickly just snatched out of my hands by someone else. She never made eye contact once and seemed to have a bitter attitude toward her colleagues as well. She was asking me intake information and could not make eye contact, continuing with her crass attitude, only asking about the intake fee. My partner noticed her demeanor and tried to make small conversation, but she rudely brushed him off, only to struggle with the payment, finish it, and walk off. This entire interaction was all but 10 minutes, and it was extremely uncomfortable. For people to have such a lack of sympathy for the situations they take in, I felt misunderstood and disrespected. If there was a reason behind their behavior towards me, I would love to further understand. All I felt was consistent judgment, disrespect, and insensitivity from every person that interacted with me. If they had an issue with the state of my pig, or for the reasons I brought her there, it would've been much more appropriate to have a conversation with me; then let me leave thinking I did something wrong by her.Like many, I am grateful for the work that is done here at the Sanctuary, but I will not be recommending it to others. This sort of demeanor towards people who think they are doing what's best for their animals is disgusting and cruel. I have never experienced such a devastating interaction when handing over a beloved pet.Everyone that goes to the Sanctuary or even just visits the website knows how overrun and overworked they all are. This is not an excuse to lack human decency. I've been in animal rescue for years and brought my animal to this place, thinking it was the best option. If anyone I worked with to rescue treated a surrender this way, there would be problems. People deserve the benefit of the doubt and empathy for their hardships. Please talk to your clients about their situations. Please have empathy and understanding. This is not how someone should be treated when trying to do good by their animal. Please, do better.*Edit to reflect the comment by the sanctuary*- I gave my treatment 2 stars, while also stating the appreciation for the work done here. Its obviously clear none of you care how you make anyone feel unless they're adopting out or submitting to your abusive attitudes. Whoever responds to these reviews clearly needs a smack or discipline period.

Absolutely amazing! We have adopted two Guinea pigs from the sanctuary and the staff has been amazing every time we have gone there! They answered all of our questions and concerns. The owner showed us how to clip the piggy nails, recommend shampoos and gave us a whole folder with documentation on piggy care. The staff are always so welcoming and knowledgeable. This is a great place to bring kids to hold and feed the pigs. The staff work so hard to give these little animals a better chance at life. They are truly amazing people. We will forever be supporters of the Guinea pig sanctuary!

Absolutely loved this place. The owner adores every single one of the guinea pigs and you can tell that she takes very good care of them. Thanks to her, I have so much knowledge, and am able to properly care for my two new boys. Wouldn’t have given my business to anyone else.

They were so helpful and reassuring. Having to surrender a loved fur-baby is so hard, but they made me comfortable. And even though there were a few tears, I felt confident I left my guineas in good hands. Please support them!

We picked this place to adopted our first pair of guinea pigs. They were great with giving my son and I information and helping find a great pair of girls. They have been super helpful afterwards with any help or questions. The volunteers do a wonderful job daily of cleaning, caring for and loving the huge number of guinea pigs looking for homes. Definitely not an easy job. Wonderful people and an awesome place to visit and adopt from. They truly love each piggy and it shows.

Incredibly hard working volunteers. If you have taken care of one Guinea pig and found it a handful imagine taking care of hundreds every day. Many have medical issues and need special care. Many are pregnant or nursing mothers. Elderly pigs with sore joints. Babies struggling to gain weight. The heartbreak this kind souls endure when these sweet creatures need to be crossed over. No one else does it quite like them and nobody who hasn't done what they do has a right to judge. Here's an idea, before you wrote that harsh review about an animal RESCUE why not volunteer and put your feet in their shoes.

This Sanctuary does wonderful work for guinea pigs that are mistreated & abandoned. They are no nonsense when it comes to protecting these creatures. You can visit to feed the guinea pigs &/or adopt. They always make sure that the piggies are healthy and go to good homes. Adopt don't shop is their motto.

I came from Chicago to see this place and I was not disappointed! Me and my boyfriend spent over an hour petting guinea pigs, perusing the little gift shop, and speaking with the owner. She was patient and answered all our questions, (we had several). The guinea pigs were all well taken care of and the rooms were tight but very organized. I look forward to going back for another visit soon. xx

I am a “foster fail” mom to 2 old lady piggies that I found here. Kim is The Pig Whisperer. She can gauge the piggies and can match a person to the right piggie, (or match piggies together, which is what she did for my girls). I’ve never seen anything like it. She and the volunteers work tirelessly to create a safe space for the piggies so that each and every one feels loved until they find their forever home, or cross over the rainbow bridge. And she’s allergic to them! That’s dedication! You could buy a Guinea pig, but why would you when you can get a guaranteed healthy (as best as a vet can guarantee) piggie - or bonded pair - to love for very minimal money. You can even foster to see if the piggie life is for you, and that’s free! They even have a ton of free stuff outside. Need a bigger cage, or a ramp or anything? You might find it before you even walk inside. They even board piggies, and do nail trims. Their goal is for every piggie to be in a loving home. I’ve had Guinea pigs for 6 years now, and I’ve never been anywhere that cares more for piggies than here. Here’s a picture of my sweet girls. They are both 5 and I don’t know how much time I have left with them, but what I do know is when they cross the rainbow bridge, this is where I will go for (what I call) pet replacement therapy.

So thankful we found the Guinea Pig Sanctuary when looking to adopt a friend for our little piggie! Kim and Jamie are absolutely amazing people! They truly care for each guinea pig at the sanctuary and are always there to provide support and answer questions as they come up. We have been back to the Guinea Pig Sanctuary to visit multiple times and each time I leave feeling so lucky to have found them. THE BEST!
