This Petco recently held a "pet photos with Santa" afternoon. Customers could get a photo of their pet(s) with Santa (an affable Petco employee named Mark) in exchange for a donation to Cape Ann Animal Aid. I was there as a shelter volunteer and had the pleasure of working this event with Mark and the store manager, Alyssa. First, Mark was the best Santa, enthusiastically posing with everything from dogs and cats to emotional support rabbits, and being extremely patient when some animals needed time to warm up. Alyssa was a consummate manager, bouncing between being the official photographer and ringing up orders, answering customer questions, etc. The entire team seemed happy to be there, which is rare in a retail environment (especially around the holidays). I was so impressed with Alyssa, Mark and the rest of the crew at Peabody Petco that I felt the need to post this review. Finally, at the end of my shift, Alyssa and "Santa" sent me home with a cart's worth of donations to bring to Cape Ann Animal Aid. It was such a kind gesture after they had already spent three hours collecting donations. I can not speak highly enough of this store and its employees.

I don't understand why on earth the vets are not willing to trim pet nails anymore! I CAN say, if you need them done, definately for grooming & nails, Petco Grooming is the place to go. My dogs been going there for years & just brought my Mama's cats there(both have behavioral issues) , they got both cats all fours done in less than 20 minutes! I was so impressed I gave them a 10. The reason I'm giving it 5 stars is because of a guy named Jean, the fish guy, and most of the employees there are friendly and helpful. The only warning I give is a tall, skinny guy, white hair and glasses. Very rude... other than that tho 99.9% great place.

Jessica was wonderful and extremely helpful. We adopted a 2-yr old cat and purchased everything we needed there to make his new home safe and comfortable. She was so very friendly and explained your rewards program to us. We thank her very much, Pam and David M

Many items do not have price attached. Not enough staff available for assistance. The only person that seem to be available wasn’t really because she was roller skating around the entire store at maximum speeds. Which was actually awesome, Everybody should be able to rollerskate at work specially in retail …But I needed some help and couldn’t get it…. Left to go to Petsmart where none of these issues exist.

I went to this location today to purchase some fish for my tank. Upon looking in the tanks, there were a lot of fish that were dead and stuck to the filters. A few fish were even eating on the dead fish. I can totally understand a couple but the amount I seen is disturbing. Im curious when the last time they checked the tanks is because it's definitely not daily. As a customer, this was disgusting to witness for a place that supposedly prides itself on animals. I will not be going back.

When i took him in 2019 i paid for a bath and nail trim. The service and the customer service was OUTSTANDING. Not anymore. :(Today i took him for a buzz down. They don't give cats bath anymore. I ended up paying $80.00 for something that looked like I could've done it myself. The only style they do for cats is the lion look. I didn't know, they didn't tell me. Not only was uneven and patchy. They didn't clean under his paws and they didn't brush him down when they were done. I called to talk to them and the only explanation they offer was, "we don't do that".The ONLY reason i am giving them 3 stars is because of the manager, Orlando. I took videos and pictures of the cat and went to the store to talk to him. After he patiently listened and looked at the horrible job the groomers did he kindly offered to reimburse half of what i paid.The overall service of the store and the vet services are great. The store it's always clean and fully stocked.

I send my daughter in there to buy 75 crickets for our bearded dragon. The guy there says "they only eat 3 per day" and my daughter comes back with only 43 which was supposed to be 50.Does this employee not know how to count and not understand that many people buy crickets in bulk because they're cheaper etc. We have a separate tank for crickets and I even have special cricket food.Dude next time someone goes in and asks for 75-80-100 crickets just sell them wow. And bearded dragons eat way more than 3 crickets per day. F-

This store is huge! So much to look at and pick from! Fish and birds galore! I bought 5 bags of cat food and only spent $75. Craziness. I would drive here again just for this store!

Kyle was so nice and helped me buy all the needed healthy supplies for my puppy, gave me a great trick to freeze the king with peanut butter to help all the chewing. Another gentleman, showed me how to train my puppy on a leash and the cashier searched the whole store for a collapsible water bottle! All the staff there is so nice and helpful, I’m there once a week and everyone goes above and beyond to help. I will never return to petsmart. This petco staff cares about animals and it shows, very impressive.

I generally like Petco for product availability and prices. However, I am appalled at the conditions the bettas live in. Today, my daughter and I went in to get a fish. Out of the 6 baby females, 5 were dead. There were 6 other dead bettas on display. Most of the fish that were still alive were suffering from illnesses as a result of living in poor water conditions. I am angry at the blatant disregard for the well being of these fish, and sad that so many are suffering.

Peter!!!! What an amazing person.I went into the store tonight completely lost in what I was looking for to help my senior 15 year old dog with skin issues that the vet has no idea what it is.Peter saw me looking around and asked how he could help and I told him about my dogs sever skin issues.He sure does know his stuff! Peter told me that the wet food I had in my hand wouldn’t help, and explained why. He asked me try a different food, a dry kibble. My dog hasn’t eaten dry kibble in years - he promised me she would eat this new food, and educated me about skin allergies in senior dogs.I knew she wouldn’t eat the kibble, but I’ll try anything at this point.I gave it to her shortly after - she ate it up! I couldn’t believe it.Peter truly cares to listen and give his advice - and I’m so grateful he was there to help me tonight. Thank you, Peter!!

A man named Mark helped me today at this location and it couldn't have been a better experience!! He took the time to explain exactly what we needed etc. I could tell right off the bat when I saw him showing a small animal to a family that was interested too as he was patiently answering all the questions the mother and children had. I ended up buying some extra things even though I could've probably got them online cheaper. Very impressed with his authenticity and he genuinely seems like he cares about the animals and people looking to buy one. 5 Stars solely due to that employee.

I was horrified. Barely any water in the snake enclosures. Sick crested geckos. Don't even get me started on the bearded dragons enclosures with gross reptile carpet and no stimulation.Dog feces on the floor.This is the worst Petco I've been to.I intend to call customer service. No excuse for this. At all.

I’m a regular in this store & I absolutely adore Holly (she goes above & beyond). after going between this store & petsmart in Salem I will always come back to Petco Peabody. as an aquarium hobbyist they have the best people in the department. every time I’m in their store regardless of which pet I’m shopping for I’ve receive solid & sufficient advice.

They sold us expired dog food. Pretty much the first rule of selling food anywhere is make sure it’s not expired if it’s on the shelf. I should have checked but I am a brand new dog owner, and expected the best considering the other good reviews. Pretty ridiculous for any establishment

I recently had a disappointing experience at Petco, and I feel compelled to share my concerns regarding their customer service practices, specifically related to purchasing fish. (I have been caring for fish since I was 13) The store employees appeared to judge customers based on their knowledge about fishkeeping without considering the opportunity for education and guidance. Unfortunately, I seemed to have said something that did not meet their expectations, and as a result, they refused to sell me the fish I wanted.When I requested to speak with a manager to understand the situation better and seek clarification, the encounter took an even more distressing turn. Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, the manager responded with hostility. They raised their voice, accused me of dishonesty, and made derogatory remarks in front of my daughter. This behavior not only undermined my trust in Petco as a reputable retailer but also created an uncomfortable and embarrassing situation for my family.It is disheartening to encounter such unprofessional conduct from a company that claims to prioritize customer satisfaction. Customers should be treated with respect, regardless of their level of expertise or knowledge. Instead, my experience at Petco was marred by judgment, mistreatment, and an utter lack of empathy.As a result of this incident, I strongly advise potential customers to exercise caution when considering Petco for their pet supply needs. It is essential to feel valued and respected as a customer, and unfortunately, my experience did not align with these expectations. Also the employee who refused to sell me fish was named Gary. I called to figure out if my cat could get her nails trimmed no one ever answered the phone. When I finally did get through to a person the person was very rude and unprofessional she told me walks ins were not available for grooming when on the website it said there was walk ins available. In addition the person took down my number and the cats name and told me someone would call me back and I never received a call back. I have never had a problem with pet co in the past very dissatisfied with the service that the person provided. I will be going elsewhere.

We had a great experience with training our Chocolate Labrador while at Petco with Amber. She helped us with a very anxious, pulling puppy and trained us and our puppy. Cali now follows commands and will come when called both with verbal and visual cues.

I’ve visited the Petco stores both in Gloucester Ma (01930 where I reside), as well as the Petco in Peabody Ma, and both locations never ever have the items I’m looking to purchase or my dog! Especially the Zuke’s Treats as well as the Greenies, I had to go searching b deeply within the Petco Peabody Store until I found the Greenies that my dog prefers. My dog is a very picky dog so it’s incredibly important that I get her the treats she enjoys. I have shopped several times on Chewy and I have found it both quite reliable and convenient to shop on their site and to have everything delivered to my home than to go on a wild goose chase / scavenger hunt to shop through your stores.

Dylan, the manager in this location was so patient and helpful with me as I reinstated my Vital Care membership. He took the time to explain all the benefits. My dog died a month ago. He was very kind to explain how I could still use the program for my two cats. It was nice to get the personal customer attention that you wouldn’t get by shopping online. I will continue to shop their for all my pet’s needs as a result of this great experience. I can see why they hired him to manage the store!

Great experience. A worker named Gabi helped me out, and pointed me towards the right cat food. This store has a great selection, but I was overwhelmed. She helped find the right food for our cats dietary needs and carefully explained their return policy in case it didn’t work. I had no idea you could return cat food.
