Great place, great people, great stock, store clerk knows a lot. Only real problem is the days that it is open. The guy working told me that they will change once the owner comes back. Would recommend.

Great model railroad hobby shop. They have a lot to look at and choose from. Lots of unique items, brass, and long-lost structure kits. I found that their prices are excellent too! Good selection of locomotives, rolling stock, and passenger cars new and used. He has an impressive stock of the "in color" railroad books for various local railroads such as the New Haven, Boston & Maine, Boston & Albany, Conrail, etc. I was very impressed by Palmer Hobbies. Thanks Bill, I'll be back. Would definitely recommend.

Enjoy shopping at Palmer Hobbies, great store and Bill is very knowledgeable and friendly. Has helped me order a few items and will take the time to answer any questions or point out items of interest. Experience is always unique there in a good way and you never know what you will find tucked away. The store has everything that a beginning modeler or experienced modeler could want. If you do not see something ask, they are usually able to order it. The store has become a regular stop for me and will continue to be. If you are out of the area the store is definitely worth the trip. He also has a great selection of railroad magazines and books, as well as previously owned or new items. I have seen him help numerous people and he will always take the time to explain something or give advice on a particular subject. When I started in this hobby in the eighties there weren't many hobby shops where you could go and get the advice or help to order something you needed. I am thankful that this store is there as it is a great place to shop.

I felt extremely uncomfortable today. The owner was extremely monotone and staring us down, refusing to answer questions clearly and seemed very prejudiced. He was also seemed uninterested in the questions I was asking. Very bad customer service and I will never be back

Great place to go for hard-to-find model railroad items and supplies. Bill has a good deal of items from all sources, and there is always something new to find. He has many contacts, and if he doesn't have an item, he can almost always find it. Prices are the best of all the hobby shops in the area.

Exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful owner and lots of difficult-to-find and consignment items. The owner will work harder than anyone to locate seemingly long-gone products. He's found things for me that I thought I'd never lay hands on. He'll also steer beginners toward quality product--no BS. VERY honest and straight-up guy.The model train business has changed dramatically in recent years. Manufacturers are releasing everything as "limited runs." I do pre-orders here rather than online because the owner gives great advice on product and jumps right on getting those preorders in to manufacturers and distributors. Once he knows a regular customer's model train interests, he'll nudge you when something good is coming up.This is a serious shop for serious and mature modelers. Being a respectful and responsible customer is part of the deal here and if you are, you have a solid ally for your hobby, which these days is a rare and priceless commodity.Four things you don't do at Palmer Hobbies (and I've personally witnessed all four, several times): don't special order or preorder an item--especially an expensive one--and not pick it up (no small shops can sustain that nonsense); don't haggle about prices like it's a Persian market; don't bring children in and let them run wild; and don't come in, with items to sell or put on consignment, full of contentiousness, attitude, and demands. I've several times witnessed people walk into the shop with boxes of filthy broken junk, full of entitlement, arrogantly *demanding* hundreds of dollars for the rubbish, and then getting nasty, offended, and vindictive, when the owner offers them a low (and by then, to me, far too generous) price.... and don't step on his dog.

If looks could kill. I felt offended upon entering the store. We were not received well, I believe it was due to my girlfriends ethnicity. Very cold shrewed looks were given making our transaction very uncomfortable. So uncomfortable she went to the car and refused to re-enter. I was also given an extremely low ball offer. I'f this store represents that nature, then I'll gladly take my business elsewhere. Suggesting others do the same, not supporting that type of discrimination.

Fairly decent model RR hobby shop. Lots and lots of dusty old stuff. Owner appears indifferent as to rather or not you purchase anything. Nice friendly old dog greets you at the door.

Was a regular customer until the owner made a racial slur at a delivery driver today. I like small businesses, but that was way out of line.
