Fantastic for high-quality groceries and specialty items. I don't live close by, but the Northampton location is near the highway, so I will keep finding ways to come back until I find a fully vegan grocery source.Note: If you have a pet with you or other reason to need well-shaded parking, the Easthampton location is better, as they have photovoltaic parking shades, and the Northampton location only has sanctimonious signs saying you can't bring your pet inside and also that you shouldn't leave them in the car, but offering no actual help to people traveling with pets for keeping them safe and comfortable while they are in the store.

Excellent! One of my primary places to shop. I don’t have any complaints. Always clean and courteous employees willing to help. So thankful for all their hard work during the pandemic in making the co-op a safe place to shop.

My BLT was delicious. And there was no extra cost to add guacamole! There was an ample amount of bacon and in that first bite, I saw God.I was also able to pick up an interesting apothecary item I haven’t seen anymore else: Poke Root Castor Oil Salve, at a very fair price might I add. I don’t often go here but so glad I decided to get lunch here today!

The cashiers are like characters from Portlandia: almost comically snobby and sanctimonious. But I try not to let it ruin the experience of what is otherwise a beautiful store! Wish their seafood selection was as good as the Big Y's (too much farmed fish). If it were, I would shop here much more often!

Other reviewers have posted great photos, but don't get how there's almost no people in them. This is a busy store. Worth a shopping stop anytime you're in the Pioneer Valley. Excellent, well-chosen inventory, every department. There are 2 locations, this one off I-91 in Northampton & the other in Easthampton (with Capt Jack's Shack)

Bins of grains and granola, jars of spices and a row of coffee bean options await. Went in for oregano and came out with celery, sushi and a baby stag horn fern. Stopped to look at the great artisanal cheese display. Holidays are coming, I'll be back for Four Fat Fowl, a creamy brie. Easy to find, parking lot has great view to the east (Rt. 91 & Connecticut River) Sit and have quick bite in or outside, grab and go or stroll the isles. Clean, fresh produce, well stocked. Friendly, thanks cheese guys.

Just a gorgeous grocery store full of delicious surprises, lots of locally sourced food, and helpful staff. The cheese case is not to be missed, I loved the breakfast on the hotbar, the bulk department is extensive and full of fun finds!

Horrible customer service ever!! the meat guy and the cashier were very unfriendly. the vibe of this place sucks!! it is funny because they have a black matter flag and a Rainbow flag at the entrance but I was the only brown person in the whole store and they treat me like I was from another planet.

Great atmosphere, great selection, and great staff. Don't come here on a budget though. They source locally and lean towards healthier selections but this does boost the costs making it pretty pricey. Make sure to pick and choose but you can find some produce here at cheaper prices and fresher than big y or stop n shop.

A cute food market with lots of great gluten free options. I like the bulk sections and the ability to buy just the amount of ingredients that I need because it reduces food waste. And I can try something new without having to commit to a large amount. The bakery has some delicious gluten free baked goods like muffins and cookies including these incredible ginger molasses cookies that I love. There is also a whole section of cute giftable items such as stuffed animals, cute candles, and other home goods. This CoOp is also very LGBTQ friendly and I have felt welcomed and comfortable shopping there. The location in Northampton is also super beautiful tucked right into the side of a mountain. The biggest downsides are that it can be a bit pricey, and it is tough taking a left turn in traffic to get into the parking lot because there is no traffic light.

Love it. All the vegan, gf, free range, healthy, humane stuff. All the dairy free and fake meat. All the organic veggies and fake cheese. All the rainbow flags.

Everything about it is great and you don't have to be a member to go shopping there but if you want the perks UT will run you around $100.00 a year. The patios here are fantastic, wonderfully woody. 😀

I love this store. Bright, well lit, laid out really well. Prices only a tiny bit over an average grocery store but you're paying for and getting quality. Staff is helpful and engaging.

On more than one occasion workers in the meat and grocery department have gone above and beyond to help me with special requests. A++ for customer service.

Amazing store!!! Clean, organized, well stocked, options, massive bulk section... Did I mention how clean it is!?!? I wish it was 45 minutes closer to The Berkshires. The store is inviting with plenty of open space, isles aren't cramped, great lighting, smells good, and did I mention how clean it is. And organized. A must stop whenever I am passing by.

I love shopping here when I am in the area. It makes me feel healthier just walking in. I always find something new and fun to try. The cheese shop is the best, and the butcher shop has excellent meats. The prices are on the higher side. I needed hamburger rolls, and I couldn't get myself to pay their price. The cost of the rolls was more than the beef.

Was in the area seeing family and stopped here to pick up a few supplies. Fell in love with this place walking in; it was spotless, the staff was friendly and helpful and the prices surprised me compared to where I live. We picked up a few bottles of wine, this amazing sourdough bread and a few cheeses. The selection of sushi caught my eye and would definitely return just for that!

We were LONG overdue for a visit to this WONDERFUL place...we particularly like the fact that some of the farms and bakeries we already go to are in the isles here...feel bad we didn't go sooner...but happy that we'll go back again

Visited River Valley Coop today and spent $94 on half of what I could have bought at any other store. As a college student this store is completely economically inaccessible. I appreciate what they are doing to support local farmers but I believe there could be much more affordable options. At the very least there should be an option for every item that is comparable to other stores. The prices at this store mean that it can really only be an option for wealthier people and I think that should be the exact opposite of what the food movement is trying to do. I would really like to see the shared owners of this store look for ways to make their products more accessible, it was pretty disappointing to see in a progressive area such as the Pioneer Valley. So many college students would like to support business and farms that this store carries, but the prices make it impossible. On a completely separate note, the bagels are bread-y and a bit sweet? Perhaps look into a new recipe?

I make a point of visiting Co-ops just about everywhere I go and can say this one is great. The vegetable selection is awesome, local, and always high quality. While I don't eat much meat these days, River Valley is my go-to for Pinelands steaks.

I'll change it to 5 starts when you make it cheaper to get coffee if you bring your own mug. I promise.

This is my idea of a great food store. It is community oriented in many ways. The staff treats one another well, and is very helpful.Wonderful local and organic produce. An excellent meat department, fresh bread, fabulous cheese and other dairy products. Then you have health, supplement and and beauty products which are sensitive to the environment, and people's needs. This store has been highly attentive to the covid 19 realities, and they continue to work hard to provide good protection.Thank you!John

Has most of the food I want at better prices than While Foods. Good selection of bulk food items. Produce is pricier than seems necessary, and some items are frequently or of stock.I shop here first, then pick up what I can't get at a conventional supermarket.
