Two stars because they ask for tips on payment, NEVER coming back. I hate this so much, I'm a 20-50% tipper for good to outstanding service, but not for being served at the register, having to bring my own food to the table, and I having to clean up afterward. Are you out of your mind? The place is fine but pretentious, and the cookie and croissant were like from a supermarket. Chai was very good, though.Dietary restrictions: They have food that's worse than factory made. You can get more variety and better quality at the supermarket. And do not feel pressure to tip.

I came in and the people behind the counter were frowning and glaring at me at and other customers. I talked to another customer and she felt the same vibe. I have worked in restaurants all my life and we would not hire people that don’t smile and treat customers with respect kindness and warmth. I recommend Veracruzano down the street. Better food and the staff is always smiling and kind and welcoming. Better food and better prices too!

Have had tea here a couple times now when we are in the area. My tea is always excellent. The wife has had different coffee drinks each time and loved them all, the place is beyond cool inside. The old photos of what it use to be on the wall are intriguing. Everyone has always been friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back. We have been very pleased with our experiences.

Absolutely adorable cafe spot. I love the vibes, the aesthetic and the coffee. They really know what they are doing. Cute outdoor seating area during warm weather. Friendly staff. I'm not from there area but if I was I'd be there everyday. They even have awesome merch! The iced latte I had was really delicious.Vegetarian options: It looks like they had some vegan options with tempeh bacon & veggies. It'd been nice to add in a vegan egg or vegan cheese to expand those options perhaps in the future. Everything looked good, but I didn't taste anything this go 'round.Dietary restrictions: I don't think I saw any GF options, but I could be wrong.Parking: Paid app parking.

Just stopped in with my family and 15 month old niece. Was super excited to try this fun local shop and had an excellent experience until an extremely rude and passive aggressive worker (purple hair and tattoos- beware. She hates children I think!) made us feel super unwelcome. My niece was holding a bag of coffee beans and accidentally dropped it on the floor (it was counter culture so nothing special mind you) and the worker rudely asked “Uhm, would you like us to grind those beans for you?” When we said no she rolled her eyes, made a face, and promptly came out from the counter to straighten up the bags right in front of us.What the heck kind of place is passive aggressive toward adorable babies! For a place that screamed inclusivity with pride flags and an eclectic atmosphere they should make it known that the traditional family is not welcome. Do better Familiar Coffee! Maybe start with hiring nicer people that don’t hate kids :)As for the coffee, it was fine. My chai latte could have been spicier and the pour over was mid.

I wanted to be as enthused and enraptured as others were by Familiars, but I was not. Mind you, this was merely my experience and my own opinion. I’ll certainly return on a different day and order different items and update my review.The menu at Familiars is creative and whimsical; it certainly draws you into a far different expectation for flavor, but my breakfast lacked that in both my coffee and my bagel sandwich.My maple latte didn’t have too much of a punch of flavor, nor did the goat cheese and tempeh bacon.The service was superb- speedy and courteous. The restaurant itself is well-maintained, gleamingly clean, and the outdoor seating was spacious and comfortable.I look forward to heading back and giving Familiars a second chance.

YES!!! Love this place. So cool what they’ve done to an old diner. If you want a slightly more classy/jazzy Roost, come here. The food is SO good, lots of coffee choices, and really cool atmosphere. Plus, I get to enjoy while sitting on a high stool over looking the street and passers by right next to me :)

Super easy ordering from the QR tables, conveniently located on each of the outside tables. Very fast service but it didn’t change the quality of the food & drinks. I was so happy with my Spanish latte, that I needed to try another drink on our way out. My second coffee was as honey cinnamon latte and it was amazing! Those amazing drinks were outshined by the classic lox bagel. The bagel had the perfect amount of snap and chewiness. Their delicious salmon worked perfectly with the chive cream cheese and capers.ps. Top your coffee with the house made maple whipped cream.

Happy oat milk latte time for this veggie sometimes vegan. Also good selection of vegan muffins (always a treat to find) spent more time than expected here admiring the art and chatting with family because the atmosphere although cool was not stuffy or rushed-feeling. Music was awesome for this 80s baby and lover of 90s emo and alt rock. Also bought ginger syrup to fly back with a taste of home.

I have been coming to this adorable spot semi-regularly since the summertime. It’s incredibly delicious- I always feel like I had such a treat! Something that stands out to me about Familiars vs many other restaurants and cafes I have tried in the area is how FRIENDLY the staff are. Always extremely pleasant, helpful, and kind. I have ordering anxiety and I feel very at ease here. Recently I went in and a very lovely person remembered my name! There are so many little touches that make this place unique and the staff are really really cool. It’s my favorite spot!!

Reasonable prices for a great selection of drinks and food. The staff are wicked friendly and helpful with suggestions and explaining the menu. The atmosphere is comfortable and great for sunny afternoons. Can be great to come alone or with a friend or two, but the environment is generally a bit quieter.
