I've been shopping here for...oh, the past fifteen years, but I've been very intensely shopping here over the last two years, but my experiences have all been great! The staff I've interacted with have been lovely and efficient, and are always happy to order any books I would like. I wish their selection of science fiction/fantasy/horror was larger, since that's the majority of what I read, but since they will quickly order any book they don't have, that quibble barely registers!

Super cute book place with lots of personality. Really liked looking through the store and seeing what books and curiosities they had for sale. Super nice and helpful staff too!

Broadside Bookshop is one of my very favorite bookstores. I have shopped here for years, every time when I’m in town. The selection is great.However, after my last visit, I don’t think I’ll be coming back. After listening to (who I am assuming) is the owner berate his employee nonstop for thirty minutes, I put everything back and walked out. It is so disappointing to see a local spot I love so much treat their employees so terribly. I really hope that this young woman finds a better job somewhere where she isn’t being ridiculed in public every day.

Terrible store with low quality books owner deems successful based on own need to fulfill unachieved goal. Poor treatment of local self-published authors they were too dismissive of to promote/consider. Not surprised at the short-comings due to their unprofessional outlook & attitude. Outdated viewpoints. You’re better off shopping elsewhere. Avoid.

Very mediocre selection of books. Some items even seem to be above MSRP. I have been many times and only bought one thing (which was on clearance). You would be better off checking out Raven Used Books or the library.

Excellent small town book store. The staff is very knowledgeable and the variety and depth of the books they carry is quite remarkable. I've never failed to find an interesting read there. And they are strong supporters of local writers, the Smith College poetry series and other local literary events. A great place to support.

This is a very nice little bookstore. Not a huge selection, but they're quick to order anything they don't have.I enjoyed bringing my daughter here and picking out books for her. It was a very relaxed atmosphere, and pretty cozy.The staff was friendly. They allowed someone to bring their dog inside-- not sure if that's usual policy or not, but my daughter had fun meeting the dog.If you're wondering in town alone, then this is a good spot to kill some time. It's not particularly well suited for groups.

Very cute bookstore, and the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. It's an adorable place, although small. Don't expect a superstore. They will happily help you order anything that is not available in store, including used and out of print books.

This bookstore is awesome! They had advance copies of books of book I thought I would have to wait months for, for only a dollar each. The (giant) overall selection was great, plus lots of fun gifts and a nice atmosphere.

This store has long been one of my happy places in downtown NoHo! They have a great selection, and if you want something that isn't in the store, the staff can order it for you to be picked up at your convenience. Also, if you're just browsing the shelves and aren't sure what to buy, I recommend their staff picks, and the staff are just generally helpful as well!

Broadside is a trove of books, posters, maps and gifts related to books, reading and learning. Independent bookstores are thin on the ground in most places today. This one is a particular treasure.

Are you seriously still requiring masks? I looked in, saw a sign that masks are required, and a man standing next to the sign, flipping through a book, not wearing a mask. Would have liked to buy a book myself. It's 2022. Masks are an individual choice now, not a mandate.

A quaint and cozy establishment. Most reading materials may be found with ease. However, rumors that management as well as most employees inability to carry a sincere, meaningful conversation seem factual. Customer service is extremely important to me and is a determining factor in whether or not I return on a regular basis. Customer service could use improvement.

small selection and just as pricy as a chain bookstore. only reason to go is to support a loc business, but if recommend grey matter over broadside. one good thing about broadside is a good collection of contemporary fiction.

Great selection of books that you might not find elsewhere. Can't find what you want? The staff will happily find it online and order it for you. A great place for children's books as well.

We stopped here on our way through town. It's a tiny store, but it has a great book selection (fiction, but also a great selection of science and history books), plus some other things like calendars and jigsaw puzzles

Broadside Bookshop is a Northampton staple, like its trendy restaurants and lively nightlife. I discovered this beautiful shop during my early college years, when I happened to stumble upon it while searching for a cyber café (early 2000s). I love how they put the spotlight on literary authors and/or lesser known writers. I’ve uncovered amazing stories that way. James Patterson and John Grisham are set aside in favor of Joyce Carol Oates and Celeste Ng. Downside? Not enough YA. I write in the aforementioned genre, and I’d love to be represented in this wonderful shop. If you happen to be in the UMass area, be sure to visit the city of Northampton and this wondering bookstore.
